Chapter 109 - Chapter 100: The Deadlight Jinchuriki, The Mad King, and The Calamari Joke

[ Location: The Upside Down - Mirror Frostwell Lawn ]

[ Date: Subjective Time - The Final Showdown ]

"Get him," I ordered.

My army didn't hesitate.

A thousand Demodogs launched forward like a wave of grey muscle and teeth.

Right behind them, the Basilisk uncoiled like a green freight train, hissing a battle cry that rattled the dead trees.

The King in Yellow just stood there, his faceless mask tilted down.

Then, he laughed.

It sounded like scraping metal and drowning men.

"YOU SEND PAWN'S TO BITE A KING."

Hastur raised one hand and his ragged yellow sleeve slipped back.

He just grabbed the concept of gravity and dropped it on my front lawn.

SQUELCH.

The front line of Demodogs—at least two hundred of them—instantly flattened.

They didn't even get to scream.

The massive pressure slammed them into the dirt, turning them into creepy, grey pancakes.

The Basilisk reared up to strike, but the gravity wave hit her too.

The fifty-foot magical snake was swatted out of the air like a wet noodle.

She crashed backward, smashing right through the roof of the Mirror Creel House in an explosion of wood and shingles.

Then, the pressure hit me.

"Gah!"

My knees buckled and I hit the dirt hard.

The Void Blade slipped from my fingers, burying itself in the dead grass.

It felt like a dump truck had just parked on my spine and hot blood immediately poured from my nose, dripping off my chin.

'Okay, so he's heavy weight,' I thought, grinding my teeth.

I was annoyed.

I closed my eyes, letting my physical body stay pinned to the dirt.

'Mindscape. Now.'

[ Location: Vivan's Mindscape ]

The steel walls of my mental room were shaking because the pressure from outside was trying to crush my brain.

I walked over to the center of the room, to the massive iron cage wrapped in golden, glowing chains.

Behind the bars, two giant orange eyes were watching me.

"He's heavy, isn't he?" Pennywise giggled.

The Clown was sitting cross-legged, grinning a mile wide. "Told you. You're just meal to them."

"Shut up, Bozo," I spat, walking right up to the bars.

"Rent is due," I said, grabbing the giant padlock on the cage. "I need to borrow your power."

Pennywise's smile stretched into a terrifying, hungry look. "Oh? The little landlord wants to take the Deadlights for a spin? It might burn you up."

"I'll take my chances."

I grabbed the dial on the Eight Trigrams Seal and just twisted it.

A quarter turn to the left.

Click.

The seal opened just a tiny fraction.

A flood of bright, screaming orange light poured out of the cage, slamming right into my chest.

Pennywise threw his head back and cackled. "YES! LET'S PLAY!"

[ Location: The Upside Down - Reality ]

I was still pinned to the ground.

Jane and the other vampires were huddled near the edge of the yard, watching me get crushed.

Felix was holding his cracked ribs from where I punched him earlier, looking smug.

"He is losing," Felix grunted, stepping back. "The boy is dying."

"Good," Jane whispered, though her hands were shaking. "When he is dead, we run."

Hastur glided closer to my pinned body.

"YOU ARE NOTHING," the Yellow King hissed, raising a foot to crush my skull.

I opened my eyes.

They weren't brown anymore.

They were pitch black and right in the center, glowing like twin suns, were rings of pure, burning orange.

"Wrong answer," I whispered.

My voice didn't sound like me but it was layered.

Echoing.

Dark.

BOOM.

A pillar of violent, twisted fire erupted from my body.

It wasn't just my normal violet magic but it was swirling with sickening orange Deadlight energy.

The gravity hold shattered like thin glass.

Hastur was actually blown backward a few feet, shielding his faceless mask from the intense heat.

I stood up slowly.

The air around me crackled. Static electricity buzzed so hard it made the dirt float.

My skin had a faint, orange glow to it.

A cloak of pure, shifting energy wrapped around my shoulders, looking like liquid fire.

The vampires stopped breathing.

"What... what is he?" Alec gasped, his red eyes wide with absolute horror.

I cracked my neck.

CRACK.

Then, I laughed.

It was a manic, unhinged, deeply evil cackle that echoed across the dead dimension.

It sounded like a kid having the time of his life in a slaughterhouse.

"Oh, man," I grinned, showing teeth that felt just a little too sharp. "That feels good."

Hastur raised his hands.

Four massive, rotting yellow tentacles shot out of his sleeves, whipping toward me like missiles.

'Reality Warping.'

I just held out my hands.

The tentacles hit my palms, but they didn't pierce my skin.

I grabbed them and twisted my wrists.

SQUEAK. SQUEAK.

The cosmic, world-ending tentacles bent and warped under my hands. I twisted them together, folding them over each other in impossible angles.

Hastur froze, trying to pull back but He couldn't.

"There!" I laughed, stepping back to admire my work.

I had tied his tentacles into a giant, squeaky balloon animal.

It looked like a very ugly poodle.

"WHAT?!" Hastur's psychic voice actually sounded confused. "WHAT IS THIS MADNESS?"

"You know what your problem is, squiddy?" I sneered, walking slowly toward him. "You take yourself way too seriously, By the way has anyone ever told you look like a walking calamari ring!"

'Apparition.'

CRACK.

I just teleported right behind him.

"And I love deep-fried seafood!"

Before the Outer God could turn around, I grabbed his right arm, not the sleeve but the actual, cosmic flesh underneath.

My hands, fueled by the Deadlights and Aether , gripped him tight.

I put my boot square in the middle of his back.

And I pulled.

SSSHHH-RIP.

It sounded like tearing a massive piece of wet cardboard.

Hastur let out a shriek that shattered every remaining window on my street.

Black, starry sludge sprayed everywhere.

I stood there, panting, holding his torn-off right arm.

It was twitching.

"Stop hitting yourself!" I cackled.

I swung his own arm like a baseball bat, smashing it right into the side of his masked head.

WHAM.

The King in Yellow was launched sideways, crashing through a rusted pickup truck on the lawn.

I stood there, the orange aura blazing around me.

The power was intoxicating.

It was messing with my head, making me want to tear and eat the whole dimension apart just to see how it worked.

'Wow. Okay. This is a little too much fun.'

Hastur scrambled out of the wreckage.

He was missing an arm and was leaking cosmic fluid.

And for the first time since the dawn of creation... the Outer God felt fear.

He realized he wasn't fighting a normal human anymore.

"I... WILL RETURN," Hastur hissed, backing away in a panic.

He reached up with his good hand and clawed at the air.

RIIIP.

A rift opened.

It wasn't a gate to Hawkins.

It was a tear leading straight back into the dark Abyss and the Lake of Hali waited on the other side.

He was trying to run.

He dove for the portal.

'Oh no you don't.'

I blurred forward, moving faster than anything here.

Just as Hastur tried to squeeze through the crack in reality, I reached out with both glowing hands and grabbed the edges of the portal.

My boots dug into the dead dirt.

"Where do you think you're going, squiddy?" I grinned.

My smile was jagged, stretched way too wide across my face.

I looked right into his faceless mask.

"The party is just starting and I'm locking the doors."
