The Castellano Foundation launched in June.
Lucia had worked fast. Hired an executive director. Assembled a board of community leaders, former prosecutors, and advocates. Committed fifty million dollars to endowment.
The focus was specific: supporting families affected by organized crime violence in the New York area. Scholarships. Therapy.
Community centers in neighborhoods that had been controlled by crime families.
"We can't undo the violence," Lucia said at the launch event. "My family my husband, my son, my extended family we caused real harm. Destroyed lives. Devastated communities. This foundation won't erase that. But it's a start. An acknowledgment. An attempt to build something good from the ruins we created."
The media coverage was intense.
