Chapter 84 - chapter 75

Jay pov:

I woke up with the wave of nausea hit me. I bottled straight to washroom and throw up. I have been feeling nauseous for say but it is too much from last night.

I washed my mouth and face and went out of the washroom and saw keifer was not on bed then I heard kade giggles a s keifer's form lecture about eating ice cream on the morning.

I signed and headed out of the room and saw keifer was already ready in his suit and helping Kade on sitting on his high chair.

"First eat your omelet then then finish your milk and I'll think about giving you ice cream" keifer said while Kade pout but took a bite.

Keifer look up and see me and he smiled

"Morning sleepy head" he said walking towards me and pulled me in a hug ans kissed my head and I hugged him back feeling the warmth of his body.

He pulled back and take a look in my face and his expressions change.

"What happened?? Are you okay??" He asked worried

I gave a small smile "yeah it's just I'm not feeling well" I said and again hugged him burring my face in his chest. He stroke my head and kissed my temple.

"If you are not feeling well then I'm not going to office" he said tightening the hug.

I pulled back and look at him " it's nothing keifer it's just maybe I ate something wrong yesterday. You don't have to take off" I said giving him reassuring smile.

"But–" he started but I cut him off " if I feel weird I'll call you, I promise"

He sighed "fine, but don't do anything let's the maids do their jobs" he said and kissed my nose.

I grin "promise"

" Dada I finish my breakfast" Kade shouted

We pulled apart when Kade shouted from his high chair, and I couldn't help but laugh at the proud little expression on his face.

"Dada, I finish my breakfast!" he announced, lifting both hands like he had just accomplished something extraordinary.

Keifer turned toward him, his serious expression immediately returning as he looked at the nearly empty plate. "You actually finished it?" he asked, walking over to inspect the plate.

Kade nodded enthusiastically, his little curls bouncing with every movement. "All gone!"

"Good boy." Keifer picked up his glass of milk and handed it to him. "Now finish this."

Kade stared at the milk as if Keifer had personally betrayed him. "But Dada..."

"No."

"I want ice cream."

"You wanted ice cream five minutes ago too."

"Because I still want it."

I covered my mouth to hide my laugh.

Keifer glanced at me, narrowing his eyes. "Don't encourage him."

"I didn't say anything."

"Your face did."

I rolled my eyes and pulled out a chair beside Kade. "Come on, little troublemaker. Drink your milk."

Kade looked between us before taking the glass with both hands. "Mommy, tell Dada ice cream."

"Nope."

His mouth dropped open. "Mommy!"

I laughed. "You heard me. No ice cream for breakfast."

Kade dramatically dropped his head against the back of the chair, making a miserable little groan.

Keifer shook his head, but there was a small smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.

I was about to tease Kade when another wave of nausea suddenly rolled through me. The smile disappeared from my face. I swallowed hard and pressed my palm against my stomach.

Not again.

I tried breathing slowly, hoping it would pass before anyone noticed, but Keifer noticed immediately.

"Jay?"

"I'm fine," I said quickly.

He stopped beside me. "You just went pale."

"I'm okay. Really."

Kade looked up from his milk, his little face suddenly concerned. "Mommy sick?"

I forced a smile and reached over to squeeze his tiny hand. "Just a little."

Keifer crouched beside me, his attention completely fixed on my face. "You were sick last night, and now you're feeling nauseous again."

"I know."

"And you're telling me you're fine?"

"Because I am going to be fine."

He didn't look convinced.

I gave him a tired smile. "Maybe my stomach just hates me."

Kade immediately pointed at my stomach. "Mommy tummy bad?"

I couldn't help laughing. "Apparently."

Keifer stood up and looked toward the kitchen. "Can someone bring her some water and something light to eat?"

I opened my mouth to protest, but he was already giving instructions.

"Keifer, you really don't need to—"

"I know," he interrupted, looking back at me. "You don't need me to panic. I'm aware."

I raised an eyebrow. "You are absolutely panicking."

"I'm not."

"You have your worried face."

"I don't have a worried face."

"You do."

Kade suddenly giggled from his chair. "Dada worried!"

Keifer stared at him. "You stay out of this."

Kade burst into another fit of giggles.

I smiled despite the nausea, watching the two of them argue over something so ridiculous.

For a moment, everything felt normal.

Then that strange feeling returned again, stronger this time. I closed my eyes and took a slow breath.

Something was definitely wrong. I just didn't know what.

And somehow, I had a feeling this wasn't something I had eaten yesterday.

I watched Keifer stare at Kade for a few seconds, clearly trying to decide whether he should be amused or annoyed by our son announcing that he was worried about me. In the end, the corner of his mouth lifted slightly, but the concern in his eyes didn't disappear when he looked back at me.

Before either of us could say anything else, one of the maids placed a glass of water and a small plate of toast on the table in front of me. Keifer immediately pulled out the chair beside mine and gestured for me to sit.

"Come on, sit down for a minute," he said, his voice softer now. "You've been feeling sick since last night, and you're still trying to convince me that there's nothing wrong."

I sighed but sat down because I knew arguing with him when he got into this protective mood was completely pointless. The moment I settled into the chair, Keifer crouched beside me instead of going back to his breakfast. He rested one hand gently against my knee while his other hand pushed a loose strand of hair away from my face.

"I'm serious, Jay. If you're feeling worse today, I want you to rest. Don't worry about anything else."

I looked at him and couldn't help smiling a little. "You say that like I'm planning to run a marathon the second you leave."

"You would," he replied without hesitation. "You'd probably decide to reorganize half the house, start helping the maids, play with Kade for three hours, and then tell me at night that you're exhausted."

I opened my mouth to defend myself, but then I remembered the number of times he'd caught me doing exactly that.

"Okay, maybe I would," I admitted reluctantly.

His expression softened immediately, and his thumb moved slowly over my knee in a reassuring gesture. "Exactly. So today, you rest."

Before I could answer, Kade suddenly leaned forward in his high chair and waved his empty milk glass.

"Dada, finished!"

Keifer looked over his shoulder. "All of it?"

Kade nodded so hard that I thought his head might fall off.

"Good. Now you can have—"

"ICE CREAM!" Kade shouted excitedly.

Keifer stopped in the middle of his sentence and slowly turned his head toward him.

I pressed my lips together, trying desperately not to laugh.

Kade stared back at his father with the most innocent expression he could possibly make, as though he had absolutely no idea why Keifer was looking at him like that.

"I was going to say you can have fruit," Keifer said calmly.

Kade's face immediately fell. "Not ice cream?"

"No."

"But you said you'd think about it."

"I thought about it."

"And?"

"And the answer is no."

Kade crossed his tiny arms over his chest and frowned. "You're mean."

I couldn't hold my laughter anymore. A small laugh escaped me, and Keifer looked at me with an expression that clearly said I wasn't helping.

"You see what you've created?" he asked.

I put my hand over my mouth, still smiling. "He's your son."

"Unfortunately, I know."

Kade gasped dramatically. "Dada!"

Keifer's expression softened immediately when he saw the offended look on Kade's face. He walked over to the high chair and leaned down until they were almost at eye level.

"I'm teasing you, buddy."

Kade continued pouting for another few seconds before reaching his little arms toward him.

"Dada hug."

Keifer's entire face changed.

All that sternness disappeared as he picked Kade up from the high chair and settled him against his chest. Kade immediately wrapped his arms around his father's neck and rested his cheek against his shoulder as if the argument about ice cream had never happened.

I watched them quietly, feeling warmth spread through me despite how uncomfortable my stomach still felt.

Keifer had always been terrifying to everyone else. He could walk into a room and make grown men straighten their backs without saying more than a few words. But with Kade, he was completely different. The same man who could intimidate an entire room was now standing in the middle of the kitchen, gently rubbing his son's back while Kade played with the collar of his suit.

"Mommy," Kade called suddenly, turning his head toward me while still being held by Keifer.

"Yes, baby?"

"Come here."

I smiled and stood up.

The moment I took one step toward them, another wave of nausea hit me.

It came so suddenly that I had no time to prepare for it.

I stopped, instinctively pressing one hand against my stomach while the other gripped the edge of the table. My breathing became shallow as I tried to wait for the feeling to pass.

Keifer noticed immediately.

"Jay."

His voice changed so quickly that it made my heart jump.

He carefully placed Kade back into his chair and crossed the small distance between us. His hands settled around my arms, steadying me as he searched my face.

"Look at me."

I lifted my eyes toward him.

"I'm okay," I whispered.

"You don't look okay."

"I just feel a little nauseous."

"A little?"

I gave him an apologetic smile because I knew exactly where this was going.

"Okay. Maybe more than a little."

His jaw tightened. "That's it. I'm staying home."

"No."

"Jay."

"Keifer."

We stared at each other.

For a few seconds, neither of us moved.

Then Kade, apparently deciding that the silence was becoming far too serious for his liking, pointed at his father and announced, "Dada lose."

I looked at Kade.

Then I looked at Keifer.

And despite everything, I burst out laughing.

Keifer closed his eyes and slowly rubbed his forehead. "Your son has terrible timing."

I laughed harder, and even Keifer eventually gave up trying to look serious.

He looked at me for a moment, and the worry in his eyes softened when he saw me smiling.

"Fine," he murmured. "I'm not going to argue with you right now."

"Thank you."

"But I'm still calling the doctor."

My smile disappeared. "The doctor?"

"Yes."

"Keifer, it's just nausea."

"And you've been nauseous since last night."

"I probably ate something that didn't agree with me."

"Maybe."

The way he said that made me suspicious. "What does 'maybe' mean?"

He looked at me for a moment before answering. "It means I'm not going to assume it's nothing."

I rolled my eyes, but I didn't have the energy to argue anymore. He gently guided me back toward the chair and waited until I sat down before pushing the plate of toast closer to me.

"Eat something slowly."

I picked up a small piece of toast and took a bite, mostly because I knew he wouldn't stop watching me until I did.

Kade watched me too, his little eyebrows furrowed with concern. "Mommy, eat. Then feel better."

My heart melted.

I reached over and touched his cheek. "Okay, baby. Mommy will eat."

Keifer stood behind my chair for a moment, his hands resting lightly on my shoulders. I could feel the tension in him even though he was trying not to show it.

I leaned my head back slightly until it rested against his stomach. "I'm really okay," I whispered.

His hand moved through my hair slowly. "I know you think you are."

I frowned and looked up at him. "What is that supposed to mean?"

He gave me a small, almost reluctant smile. "It means I know you. You always say you're fine until you're practically collapsing."

"I do not."

"You absolutely do."

"I don't."

"You once had a fever and tried to convince me you were fine because you didn't want me to cancel a business meeting."

I looked away. "That was different."

"How?"

"I wanted you to make money."

He stared at me.

I smiled innocently.

He shook his head and leaned down, pressing a gentle kiss against my forehead. "You're impossible."

I smiled and closed my eyes for a second.

But beneath the warmth of his hand and the quiet sound of Kade playing with his spoon, that strange feeling in my stomach remained.

And for the first time that morning, a small thought slipped into my mind.

Maybe this wasn't something I had eaten.

Maybe there was another reason my body had been acting so strangely.

I immediately pushed the thought away.

There was no way.

At least, that's what I told myself.
