Chapter 145 - The Duel Arena Is Officially Complete

As the door swung fully open,

a small girl with twin ponytails came into Ron's view.

She had bright blue eyes, a petite and adorable build, and a dazed, innocent look about her.

Her short legs were plump and soft, wrapped in white stockings.

"Um… hello…"

"Excuse me, is Lady Tohru here?"

"A voice told me she's working at this tavern."

Her voice was soft and childish, carrying that uniquely sweet, milky tone of a young girl—extremely cute.

However…

What Ron was thinking was something entirely different.

If I punched this squeaky little thing once,

she'd probably cry for a long time, wouldn't she?

Of course!

That was just a random thought.

Ron absolutely did not have that kind of twisted hobby.

Absolutely not!

"Yes, Tohru is working here," Ron said with a smile.

"You're Kanna, right?"

This little girl was Kanna Kamui.

Like Tohru, she was a dragon from the Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid world.

She didn't carry the "teacher" trait.

She was a randomly invited guest from another world today.

The moment she got confirmation, Kanna's expression darkened.

She stomped over to the bar on her short legs, glaring straight at Ron with her blue eyes.

"You must've seduced Lady Tohru with your body!"

"Give Tohru back to me!"

"Hentai!"

"Make Lady Tohru return to her original world—"

As she spoke, Kanna's tiny fists started raining down on Ron.

It didn't hurt.

In fact… it was kind of comfortable.

Just then, Tohru's voice rang out.

"Kanna?"

Hearing that familiar voice, Kanna instantly turned around and threw herself into Tohru's arms—

even burrowing her face into the softest part.

"Lady Tohru! I finally found you~"

"Come back with me!"

Her chin rested against those peaks, her delicate face filled with sincerity.

"No…"

"I'm staying here."

Tohru shook her head and rejected her outright.

Working at the tavern made her happy.

She didn't have to take part in the endless wars between dragons and gods.

Every day was filled with interesting people and stories.

Without realizing it…

she had grown attached to this place.

Hearing that, Kanna's face immediately turned gloomy, as if water could drip from it.

She stepped away from Tohru and pointed at Ron.

"It must be him!"

"He seduced you, that's why you don't want to go back!"

"I'll kill him right now!"

"Shi—!"

Kanna puffed up her cheeks, clenched her fists, and started punching Ron again.

"Idiot! Idiot! Idiot…!"

After a while, she got tired.

She bent over, hands on her knees, panting heavily.

Seeing how weak she looked, Tohru frowned.

"…You can't go back, can you?"

"Tell me. What really happened?"

Kanna froze, then stammered.

"Well…"

"I got exiled because I made Dad angry with a prank."

"They told me to go out and reflect on myself."

Tohru slapped a hand to her face.

"What did you do this time?!"

Kanna shrank back timidly.

"I… I only broke a glass ball."

Tohru frowned, trying to recall something.

At that moment, Lucoa walked over from the backyard, yawning.

"You mean the Dragon Ball, right?"

"That thing was a magic storage artifact—also a myth-class weapon."

"I just peeked into Kanna's memories. After she broke it, she absorbed hundreds of years' worth of stored magic."

"Kamui God got furious and exiled her to the human world."

"And after a series of coincidences… she ended up here."

Tohru's golden slit pupils contracted sharply.

No wonder she was exiled.

Only because Kanna was a prodigy—and Kamui God's daughter—and had absorbed the magic herself did she survive.

If that were any other dragon…

there wouldn't even be ashes left.

"It's because Dad and the others wouldn't play with me…"

"If they did, I wouldn't have touched those things…"

Kanna poked her fingers together, lips trembling, looking utterly wronged.

She was just short of crying.

"That's how dragon society is," Ron sighed.

"War, or preparing for war."

He reached out and gently patted Kanna's head.

Despite being over a thousand years old,

Kanna's personality and appearance were still that of a child.

Greedy, playful, endlessly curious about the world.

Otherwise…

she wouldn't cling so desperately to her parents.

"Since you've already been exiled," Tohru sighed,

"even I can't take you back."

"So… what are you going to do now?"

Kanna shook her head.

"I don't know."

She had lived in dragon territory her entire life and had never gone outside.

Even if she left the tavern and returned to the human world,

she'd still have no home—just endless wandering.

Seeing her pitiful expression, Rem spoke softly.

"Master… maybe we can let her stay?"

Ram nodded vigorously beside her.

Ron shrugged.

"No problem."

"Raising two dragons or three dragons makes no real difference."

"It's just one more mouth to feed."

Kanna turned her head away, pretending to be disdainful.

"No!"

"I don't trust humans!"

Ron didn't force her, only said regretfully,

"As you wish."

"It's just a shame…"

"Tohru's cooking is really good."

"And there are creatures in the sea you've never seen before."

"Go on."

"Once you step through that door, you'll never be able to return to this world."

Kanna froze.

Hesitation filled her eyes.

If she left…

and Lady Tohru stayed here forever…

wouldn't she never see her again?

And besides…

What creatures was he talking about?

Were they edible?

"You really like teasing her," Lucoa chuckled.

She scooped Kanna into her arms and comforted her gently.

"Stay."

"It's normal not to trust anyone in an unfamiliar world."

"But aren't Tohru and I here?"

Kanna finally gave in, lowering her head.

"…Alright."

"I'll listen to Lady Lucoa."

The moment she finished speaking—

Lucoa moved like lightning.

She put Kanna down and dragged Ron straight into the backyard.

Kanna blinked blankly.

"Where did Lady Lucoa go?"

"Did something just fly past?"

Tohru realized what happened and ground her teeth.

"So that's why she was so eager to convince you…"

"That sly old fox!"

The Next Morning

As usual, Ron ate breakfast while reading the newspaper.

But today's paper had only one page—

and its content was utterly explosive.

[Shocking Revelation: Above the Five Elders Exists an Eight-Hundred-Year-Old Dictator!]

The author's signature read:

A Certain Warm-Hearted, Law-Abiding Citizen

To ensure credibility, Morgans even noted:

This will be the final issue of the World Economic Journal.

Just then—

The tavern door was kicked open.

Doflamingo strode in and sat at the bar with a grin.

"Boss."

"The duel arena is finished."

"It's ready to operate anytime."
