He could even permanently rewrite a rule.
Or maybe the real question was just how wide the scope of his rule changes could be.
If he could permanently alter the rules of an entire planet, then with a single sentence he could decide the life and death of everyone on it.
Dey's eyes immediately cleared. He raised the hatch of his ship himself to show he meant no harm, then forced out a smile and said, "Sir, after giving it careful thought, I've realized we were indeed in the wrong. You truly did nothing wrong at all!"
The moment those words came out, the other Nova Corps soldiers all drew deep breaths of relief. If no fight broke out, that would be for the best. Against a monster like this, they really couldn't guarantee they would survive.
Harry was noncommittal about Dey's surrender. He slowly waved his wand and traced a crest in the air before him, centered on the wand itself.
He held the emblem up for Dey to see and declared his identity.
"I come from Kamar-Taj. I am the current Sorcerer Supreme, though you may also call me the Godslayer."
The instant Harry revealed who he was, the atmosphere exploded into chaos.
Dey's face turned deathly pale. His slightly lowered head snapped up, his eyes went wide, and his face filled with disbelief and deep fear.
His body trembled faintly. His lips moved as if he wanted to say something, but not a single word came out.
As an administrative leader within the Nova Corps, he knew exactly what the title Godslayer represented. This time, he had truly provoked someone he never should have crossed.
The Nova Corps soldiers also broke into a commotion, their faces full of tension and unease.
They all unconsciously took a step back, whispering to one another, their eyes brimming with shock and confusion.
Even if people of their rank didn't know what the title Godslayer meant, they had certainly heard of the Sorcerer Supreme.
Just a short while ago, Xandar's biggest headline had been the new Sorcerer Supreme defeating the multiversal Dimensional Demon God Mephisto.
Without question, if Sorcerer Supreme Harry Potter had been able to defeat Mephisto, then his power had to be multiversal as well.
If someone that strong attacked Xandar, then Xandar would cease to exist.
Gamora, standing nearby, also drew in a deep breath as her suspicions were confirmed.
So it really was him, the Sorcerer Supreme Harry Potter, the one even the Mad Titan Thanos feared immensely.
This was bad. Not only was there no hope left of getting the Orb, but now she had fallen right into his hands too.
If she ended up in Harry Potter's custody, even Thanos probably wouldn't dare come rescue her.
After learning Harry's true identity, Dey's attitude changed yet again, completely and utterly.
He hurriedly jumped down from his ship, walked up to Harry with a humble smile plastered across his face, bowed his head, bent at the waist, and shook his hand.
"My apologies, Lord Harry. I failed to recognize greatness when I saw it and offended you. I hope you can forgive me.
I've already informed Nova Prime about what happened here. She'll be arriving soon to welcome you personally."
Nova Prime was the most powerful figure on Xandar, the leader of the Nova Corps.
And the Nova Corps was Xandar's main military and administrative force, responsible for maintaining peace and order on Xandar and throughout the surrounding sectors of space.
It was no exaggeration to say that Nova Prime was a major figure even on a cosmic scale.
And yet, someone of that status was now setting aside her busy duties just to come personally receive one man.
If it had been anyone else, people would have found it unbelievable.
But if that person was Harry, then it felt perfectly natural.
Harry, however, refused Dey's suggestion and said flatly, "There's no need to trouble Nova Prime. I came to Xandar only to look around. I have no other intentions."
Dey studied Harry's tone and judged that he was telling the truth, then let out a breath of relief. "Then the Nova Corps won't interfere with Lord Harry's sightseeing. To apologize for offending you earlier, all of your expenses on Xandar from this point forward will be covered by the Nova Corps."
This time, Harry did not refuse.
After all, if the Nova Corps was footing the bill, Harry had no intention of helping them save money.
So he took Groot and Rocket to all kinds of luxurious Nova Corps-affiliated venues and spent freely.
Compared to Rocket and Groot, however, Star-Lord and Gamora were having a much worse time.
That day, Harry sat in a chair, carefully examining the Orb in his hand as he considered how best to use the Power Stone.
At that moment, Star-Lord, still convinced Harry had no way to open the Orb, called out from inside his magical prison, "Hey, man, let me out and I can help you open the Orb!"
Harry glanced at him, then tightened his hand.
The Orb's shell, made of a material comparable to a starship hull, was crushed to pieces by Harry with ease.
Seeing that, Star-Lord said awkwardly, "Oh. Right. Okay, guess you don't need help after all. But you didn't go after me just because of Yondu's forty-thousand-credit bounty, did you?
I really don't think a reward like that matters to you. Compared to me, maybe you should pay more attention to Gamora. Add up the bounties from all the major empires in the galaxy, and she's worth a full million."
Gamora looked at Star-Lord in disbelief. Not long ago, he had been chatting her up, trying to flirt with her, even promising to help her escape.
And now he had sold her out without hesitation.
Harry slipped the Power Stone back into his Pocket dimension, then turned to look at the two of them. After a moment's thought, he dispelled the magical cage and let them out.
After observing them for a while, he had realized that although the two of them had bad reputations, they weren't bad people at heart. With the right guidance, maybe they could become some kind of cosmic cops one day, superheroes, even.
In fact, he had already thought of a name for them.
The Guardians of the Galaxy.
Harry drafted two Lending contracts and handed one to each of them. "Sign these, and you can leave."
Star-Lord accepted the contract with a horrified look. "This isn't some kind of devil's contract, is it? I'm not interested in selling my soul!"
Beside him, Gamora said with open disdain, "You brainless idiot. Think a little. It already put all the details in your head."
Star-Lord froze. Only then did he realize that the moment he touched the contract, a flood of information had appeared in his mind.
Every bit of it was the detailed content of the contract.
Ignoring Gamora's mockery, Star-Lord suddenly lit up. "Nice, one mission a month, and I get magic powers too? I'm in. Boss, don't worry, I'll be the best member of the Guardians of the Galaxy!"
Boom!
Just then, a deafening explosion roared from outside.
Harry was currently staying in a ten-star hotel. Its structure had excellent shock absorption, so if the tremors inside the room were still this intense, then had an interstellar war broken out?
He pulled open the curtain and looked outside, then paused in surprise.
At the edge of his vision, a starship the size of a small city floated high in the sky, launching repeated attacks on Xandar.
Anyone with even a basic understanding of cosmic affairs would recognize that ship's name.
The Dark Aster.
Its owner was Ronan the Accuser, a powerful and ruthless warlord of the Kree, and now he had turned his sights on Xandar.
As the Dark Aster bombarded the planet, massive explosions erupted all across Xandar.
The Nova Corps alarm blared throughout the entire world. The people in the cities panicked and fled in every direction.
The streets dissolved into chaos, vehicles crashed into one another, and the shouts and screams of the crowd mixed together until it felt as if the end of the world had arrived.
Star-Lord glared at the apocalyptic scene in the distance and shouted angrily, "Ronan's gone insane! He's launching a direct assault on Xandar? Isn't he afraid this will trigger a total war between the Kree and Xandar?"
Gamora rolled her eyes at him and sneered. "What an idiot. Ronan has always wanted to destroy the ceasefire agreement between the Nova Corps and the Kree Empire. He wants to wipe Xandar out completely.
And if I'm not mistaken, the reason he's launching an all-out assault right now is the Orb you took from that ancient ruin."
"The Orb?" Star-Lord and Gamora both turned to look at Harry.
Harry hadn't expected the main cause of this interstellar war to end up being connected to him. After a brief moment of thought, he decided without hesitation to help Xandar out.
That was right, he was just that kind-hearted a person. He simply couldn't stand by and watch too many innocent civilians die right in front of him.
This had absolutely nothing to do with Ronan wanting to steal the Power Stone from him.
The moment the Dark Aster appeared, Nova Corps commander Irani Rael reacted immediately. Over the communications channel, she issued an order to every member of the Nova Corps.
"All units, attention! Enter Level One combat status immediately! Activate the planetary defense system and stop Ronan's invasion!"
In an instant, Nova Corps fighters rose from bases across the planet like a swarm of bees and streaked toward the Dark Aster.
They carved brilliant trails of fire through space like fireworks in the night sky, but behind that beauty lay a struggle of life and death.
However, Ronan had clearly come prepared for this surprise assault.
The moment Xandar's defensive barrier began to form, a beam of energy overflowing with endless destructive force blasted out from the Dark Aster and slammed toward the planet.
The half-formed shield shattered instantly, crumbling into dust. The remaining energy continued rushing toward Xandar's defense system at terrifying speed.
If that beam hit the planetary defense network completely, then until the invaders were fully wiped out, Xandar would have no defensive measures left at all.
Damn it. Had the war with the Kree really spared Xandar's civilians only for tens of millions to die in this attack instead?
Irani Rael couldn't help closing her eyes, unable to bear the thought of witnessing the coming slaughter.
Yet the instant she shut them, one of her subordinates suddenly cried out in an excited voice, "Commander, that beam was stopped!"
The sudden reversal filled Irani Rael with excitement. "Who stopped it? I'm going to reward them personally!"
"Harry Potter! He stopped a city-destroying beam all by himself, without using any military equipment at all!"
