Chapter 244 - Chapter 244: The End of Imu and the Dawn of Change

Even Harry felt the strain of burning through that much power in such a short time.

For a brief moment, he entered an overloaded state. The disintegration sword formed from violent energy blazed over the land like a green sun.

Then, with a heavy, muffled boom, a powerful shockwave burst outward from Harry and spread in all directions.

Aside from Garp and the others at Admiral level, no one else could withstand such a force, and everyone else was blown away.

The next moment, a strange green radiance shot into the sky, carrying world-shattering power as it raced toward the Holy Land of Mary Geoise at dozens of times the speed of sound.

Where the Super Electromagnetic Cannon passed, the air ionized instantly, forming a long green plasma corridor. The space around it seemed to twist, giving off a sharp, sizzling sound that set people's teeth on edge.

At that very moment, Mary Geoise was still soaked in luxury and excess, completely unaware of the catastrophe about to fall on it.

In the plazas, the Celestial Dragons were leisurely enjoying the service of their slaves, while the palaces in the distance glittered under the sun with shameless extravagance.

Even though the Marine-pirate alliance below was fighting a decisive battle against the undead scourge, it did not affect them in the slightest.

In the blink of an eye, the green Super Electromagnetic Cannon arrived above Mary Geoise.

The disintegration sword, over half a mile long, now resembled a meteor from hell itself, crashing down upon this so-called holy land with endless destructive power.

Boom!

The instant the two made contact, the disintegration sword detonated. Glowing green disintegration energy, carrying the breath of death and the power to reduce anything to pieces, spread rapidly in every direction. A moment later, it had engulfed the entire Holy Land of Mary Geoise.

Because of the settings Harry had built into it beforehand, that glowing green force surged specifically toward the evil Celestial Dragons, avoiding both the slaves oppressed by them and the lavish buildings nearby, without harming either in the slightest.

The slaves could only stare in terror as the green radiance drifted past, and then watched every Celestial Dragon around them turn into black dust and scatter on the wind, while they themselves remained completely unharmed.

By the time they came back to their senses, there was no trace of the Celestial Dragons left anywhere in sight.

Sensing the results of his strike, Harry gave a slight nod. After his modifications, his magic now possessed a friend-or-foe recognition function.

This attack had targeted only the Celestial Dragons and absolutely no one else, and judging by the outcome, the experiment had been a clear success.

At the same time, the power of this attack was overwhelming. In the pirate world, it was the kind of assault that belonged to a completely higher tier. Even the Five Elders only had enough time to sense the terrifying omen of the incoming disintegration sword. The instant they tried to flee, the green radiance hit them and their bodies were directly broken down into nothingness.

But even though not even the Five Elders could resist the disintegration sword, there was still one Celestial Dragon inside the Holy Land of Mary Geoise who survived.

Just before the disintegration sword fell, Imu used the highest level of Observation Haki in the world to glimpse the future a few seconds ahead.

For a fighter at her level, that amount of time was enough to escape the sword's area of effect.

But because the disintegration sword was traveling so fast, she could only save herself. She did not even have time to rescue a single one of the Five Elders.

Not that it mattered. As long as she remained alive, the World Government remained alive. She could always build a new one.

What concerned her most now was not anything else, but the mysterious man who had launched such a devastating attack, Harry Potter.

That level of strength was several times greater than even Joy Boy's had been hundreds of years ago. Even she was no match for him.

So after evading the disintegration sword, Imu did not linger for even a moment and immediately fled into the distance.

Long ago, she had received the Perennial Youth Operation from a previous user of the Op-Op Fruit, which meant she had no lifespan limit. She could simply outlive Harry Potter, then reappear after his death and establish a new World Government.

Though her strength was inferior to that monster called Harry Potter, it still far surpassed that of an Admiral. She alone could crush the combined assault of an entire Emperor's crew.

So while Harry Potter's appearance had thrown her plans into chaos, Imu was not too shaken. Give it a century, and she could always start over from scratch.

Just as Imu was thinking about how, after Harry Potter's death, she would torment his descendants, kill off whatever powerful figures still roamed the seas at that time, and build a brand-new World Government, her expression suddenly changed. She threw herself to the side in a violent dodge.

The instant she moved, a dazzling green flying slash tore through the place where she had just been and carved a scar several miles long across the sea below.

Imu stared grimly at the man who twisted out of empty space before her.

Damn it, spatial magic.

She was not getting away.

Imu was who she was, a ruler who had controlled the world for centuries, exalted beyond compare. Even though she was immensely powerful, she had always avoided fighting personally whenever possible, precisely to avoid unexpected risks.

Now, faced with Harry, who was even stronger than she was, she immediately chose the indirect approach and did everything she could to avoid battling him head-on.

Trying to persuade him, Imu said, "Mr. Potter, there is no direct grudge between us. There's no reason for this to become a fight to the death. Why not work together instead? With the power of the two of us, we could rule the world in no time.

"At that point, you would be the supreme ruler of this world, and I would be nothing more than your second-in-command. You'd have all the wealth and glory you could ever want. Wouldn't that be far better than us fighting each other to the bitter end?"

Harry did not answer. Instead, he drew a disintegration sword straight out of the air.

Seeing that, Imu's pupils shrank sharply, and a terrible premonition rose in her chest.

Could it be that this man, like Joy Boy before him, was the sort of absolute idealist who would rather fight her to the death while shouting about justice and friendship than accept a better offer?

Damn it. Those were the kinds of enemies Imu hated most.

If Harry had been weaker than her, Imu would already have stopped restraining herself and killed him in fury.

But now she was the weaker one, so even though she was panicking internally, she kept her face calm and continued trying to convince him.

"Mr. Potter, if you insist on attacking me, then even if you manage to kill me, you will pay a terrible price.

"And if you end up badly wounded, those Marines and pirates won't spare you.

"So what are you even fighting so hard for? Your sacrifices will never truly matter to anyone. In the end, all you'll receive for your efforts is betrayal from others, nothing more, nothing less…"

Before Imu could finish, she suddenly clutched at her throat and let out a strangled sound.

Then, in the next instant, her head shifted out of place and dropped from her neck. A tiny green flying slash hit it immediately, breaking it apart into fragments that fell into the sea below.

Harry stood in the air, looking down at Imu's headless remains. The strongest being in the pirate world was now being eaten by ordinary fish.

A moment later, after confirming that Imu was completely dead, Harry shook his head and vanished once more into a warped spatial vortex.

"No, you got one thing wrong. You were never strong enough to cause me any real trouble. So the outcome was always fixed. You die, and I keep living without a scratch."

When Harry returned to the Sabaody Archipelago, Garp and the others were leading the Marines in the cleanup, killing the remaining undead.

He walked over to Nami and said, "Nami, I'm leaving."

Nami had expected this already, so she was not surprised. She just waved goodbye to him.

"Thank you, Harry. Without you, my world would have been in real danger. You also helped us overthrow the Celestial Dragons' rule. People's lives are going to get so much better now."

Harry smiled. "No need to thank me. I got plenty out of your world too."

After that, Harry left the pirate world with the Devil Fruits he had obtained from the Holy Land of Mary Geoise and the other major powers.

Stepping out of the wormhole, he returned once more to the training room in the floating city.

The first thing he did after returning was take out the Devil Fruits from his Pocket dimension and study them carefully.

The result was exactly what he had expected.

The moment they left the pirate world, the Devil Fruits lost their supernatural power and became nothing more than oddly shaped ordinary fruit.

After thinking it over for a moment, Harry opened another wormhole, sent the Devil Fruits back to Nami, and told her, "Nami, have some random person eat one and see whether they still gain a Devil Fruit ability."

Nami found that request a little strange, but she did not ask questions. She knew Harry was probably running one of his weird experiments again.

A short while later, she gave him an answer.

"I had an ordinary pirate eat one, and he gained its power. He became a Zoan Devil Fruit user."

After hearing that, Harry understood. His suspicion had been confirmed.

Just like the Infinity Stones, Devil Fruits were supernatural objects rooted in the existence of their world. The abilities inside them were not just normal powers, but part of the rules of the pirate world itself.

It was the same principle as the Infinity Stones. If they left their own universe and entered another one that also had Infinity Stones, they would lose their power. Devil Fruits were the same. Once brought into another world, they too became powerless.

But Harry did not care that Devil Fruits could not be used outside their home world.

His Analytical runes and observation runes had improved dramatically, and he could now analyze the rules contained within Devil Fruits.

Once he reproduced those rules through magic, he would be able to use them again in other worlds.

On top of that, because of the unique nature of chaos magic, and because Harry still had the help of the astonishing, high-level power of chaos origin, he could use his own magic even in other worlds. He did not need to worry about it becoming unusable the way Devil Fruit abilities did.

For Devil Fruits, they needed to adapt to the world.

For Harry, the world needed to adapt to him.

Over the next stretch of time, Harry kept receiving updates from Nami about the reforms in the pirate world, and every so often he went back to help.

With his support, a new World Government was established. This time, it adopted a council system, with many of the former Admiral-level fighters taking the lead and deciding policy together.

Of course, Kaido, Big Mom, and other vicious Admiral-level monsters were not part of it. During one of Harry's later trips back to the pirate world, he took time out of his day to kill them off.

He sorted through everything he had learned from the reforms in the pirate world and used those experiences to think through how the wizarding world should be reformed.

Once he had finished analyzing the abilities of those Devil Fruits, and had also drawn up a detailed plan for reforming the wizarding world, Harry walked to the door of the training room, pushed it open, and returned to the wizarding world.

This time, he was going back to strike at the rotten system of the wizarding world itself.

The moment he returned, Harry did not waste a second and went straight to find Dumbledore.

Pushing open the oak door at the top of the spiral staircase, carved with silver snakes and griffins, Harry stepped into the familiar headmaster's office.

Warm candlelight flickered among countless bronze instruments, throwing mottled shadows across the walls.

Fawkes's perch stood by the window, and now and then a few strands of golden-red fire drifted down from his tail feathers, staining the air around him with an amber glow.

Dumbledore himself sat in the headmaster's chair, smiling at Harry as if he had sensed his arrival long ago.

Harry was not surprised.

Hogwarts Castle was itself a powerful magical structure, and as headmaster, Dumbledore could observe most places within Hogwarts.

Looking at the young wizard before him, one even he could not see through, Dumbledore said with a smile, "What is it, Harry? Are you about to leave Hogwarts and came to say goodbye?"

Without standing on ceremony, Harry sat down in the chair across from the desk, pulled out a sheet of parchment from his Pocket dimension, and handed it over to Dumbledore.

Dumbledore looked puzzled, but took it and began reading.

The moment he understood what was written on it, his eyes contracted sharply, and the whole air about him gradually shifted from playful to serious.

"A very good plan," Dumbledore said, setting the parchment down on the desk and fixing Harry with a grave stare. "When do we begin?"

Harry thought for a moment.

"When I start third year. A single summer should be enough time for us to make all the preparations we need."

Dumbledore nodded. "Excellent. I never imagined that after all these decades, I would once again be changing the wizarding world. But the pressure brought by the Dimensional Demon Gods is too great. We have no choice but to change. It's time those pure-blood nobles got a taste of what's coming."

When the exam results came out, just like the year before, Harry once again earned Outstanding marks in every subject. And with that, Harry's second year at Hogwarts came to a satisfying end.

After saying goodbye to the older girl in the Chamber of Secrets, Harry boarded the train back to King's Cross Station.

A day later, the Hogwarts Express came to a stop. Harry, Ron, and Hermione got off, said their goodbyes, and Harry rode back home in Uncle Vernon's car to Number Four, Privet Drive, Little Whinging, Surrey.

Time passed quickly, and in the blink of an eye, more than a month had gone by. In just a few days, Hogwarts would reopen.

That morning, Harry had just gotten out of bed when he heard noise coming from downstairs.

Yawning, he slowly walked down the stairs and saw the guest who had come to the house, Aunt Marge.

Aunt Marge treated Harry even worse than the Dursleys ever had, so Harry had no intention of paying her any attention at all. He simply handed a form to Uncle Vernon and said lazily, "Uncle Vernon, sign this for me."

But while Harry had no interest in dealing with Aunt Marge, it was obvious Aunt Marge had no intention of letting Harry off so easily.
