Chapter 313 - Chapter 313: Sōsuke Aizen

Harry's gaze made the minor noble even angrier. He snapped viciously, "Filthy Rukongai soul, what are you looking at? It's only at a time like this that you get to stand in line with me. In the past, if you saw me, a noble, you would have had to kneel and bow."

Harry quietly studied the noble in front of him. Just as the noble was about to flare up again, Harry smiled and said, "Young master, you're actually a noble?"

"Of course. This young master is a noble who lives in the Seireitei!" the young noble said proudly, folding his arms across his chest.

"Then why are you standing in line with us? Don't nobles have their own special line for Reiatsu testing?" Harry asked with a confused look.

"Well... that..." The young noble's momentum immediately shriveled.

The reason he did not have the money to enter the nobles' special testing line was, of course, that his family had nearly fallen into complete decline.

If he went to the nobles' line, he would be mocked by other nobles, and he might even be driven out directly. It was better to just line up among the Rukongai souls.

At that moment, Harry seemed to suddenly realize something and said in surprise, "No way. Don't tell me your family has fallen? Otherwise, how could you possibly be standing in line with Rukongai souls?

"No way. Don't tell me you can't make it among the nobles anymore? Otherwise, why would you be staying with Rukongai souls?"

"You!" After being mocked by Harry like this, the young noble immediately flew into a rage and was about to lash out.

But before he realized it, they had already reached the front of the Rukongai line.

Just as he was about to make a move, the testing instructor noticed something was wrong with him and immediately glared at him fiercely.

Feeling the testing instructor's powerful Reiatsu, the young noble suddenly found it hard to breathe. He immediately restrained his arrogant and overbearing attitude and lowered his head.

But he was furious inside and swore that once the examination was over, he would make the person in front of him pay.

Although he was only a nobody among nobles, to ordinary Rukongai souls he was still a very important figure.

Teaching a newly enrolled Shin'o Academy student a lesson would be all too easy.

But what he did not notice was that when the testing instructor released his Reiatsu to suppress him, Harry and Momo Hinamori, who were also within the range of that Reiatsu, did not change expression at all. It was as if what rushed toward them was only a wisp of spring breeze, not spiritual pressure powerful enough to crush the breath from someone's lungs.

The testing instructor noticed this and his eyes lit up. Anyone who could remain calm under his Reiatsu definitely had a Reiatsu level above fifteenth-class.

Two more promising seedlings who would definitely be able to become seated officers.

Because he had noticed Momo Hinamori's unusual nature in advance, the testing instructor's attitude toward her became much better. "Come on, Hinamori. Place your hand on the Spirit Orb, and the result will appear after a few seconds."

Momo Hinamori was a little nervous. She turned back and looked at Harry, and Harry gave her an encouraging look. Momo Hinamori took a deep breath, gripped her sleeve, and stepped forward.

Her fingertips turned pale from the force of her grip, and her palm trembled slightly as she pressed it against the Spirit Orb.

The moment her palm touched the Spirit Orb, pale white light spread out like mist.

At first, only a faint halo floated inside the orb, but very soon, the entire Spirit Orb suddenly began to tremble.

The Reiatsu light swelled abruptly, like an inflating balloon. The light on the orb's surface flared wildly along the lines of her fingertips, weaving a glowing net across the dark testing platform.

"Seventh-class!" The instructor in charge of recording suddenly raised his head. His quill fell onto the record book with a slap, and ink spread into a dark blot over the "potential rating" column. "Seventh-class Reiatsu! She hasn't even enrolled and started training yet, but she was born with seventh-class Reiatsu!"

The surroundings instantly fell into dead silence, and in the next second, the sound of sharp intakes of breath exploded through the hall.

The new students standing in the front row subconsciously took half a step back, their gazes sweeping back and forth between the crystal orb and Momo Hinamori. Someone could not help whispering, "Seventh-class right after enrolling? That's even stronger than the red-haired one just now!"

"She looks so small. How can her Reiatsu be this..."

The discussions from the back row surged in like a tide. A few students who had been pleased with themselves after testing at twentieth-class Reiatsu now had stiff smiles on their faces, their fingers unconsciously twisting the hems of their clothes.

The testing instructor quickly walked up to the crystal orb and brushed his fingertips over the still-flowing tracks of light. His throat bobbed as he repeated, "Seventh-class Reiatsu, perfect control, top-tier Kidō talent... To think this year's new students would have a Kidō talent like this!"

Behind Harry, the arrogant young noble's face instantly turned deathly pale. He stared at Momo Hinamori's back in disbelief.

He clenched his fists and kept muttering to himself, "Impossible. How could a filthy Rukongai soul have seventh-class Reiatsu? It's fake. This has to be fake!"

When Momo Hinamori withdrew her hand, the glow inside the Spirit Orb was still pulsing slowly, like a tiny beating heart.

After learning her Reiatsu level, even she revealed a look of disbelief.

Although before the test, she already knew her Reiatsu was definitely ranked, she had not expected it to reach the single digits, or even to become the strongest result among all the new students tested so far.

Momo Hinamori naturally knew what seventh-class Reiatsu meant.

It meant that, if she underwent systematic training, she might very likely become a captain several decades later.

Thinking of this, Momo Hinamori turned to look at Harry, her eyes shining brightly.

She thought that her initial Reiatsu could not possibly have been this strong by itself. It was entirely because of Harry that she could have seventh-class Reiatsu.

When Harry was five years old, he had researched a special breathing method. If they breathed using that method, they became much more resistant to hunger, which saved their families a lot of money on food.

At the same time, Momo Hinamori had also discovered that if they kept using this special breathing method, the density of their spirit bodies became more compact. That was most likely the main reason her Reiatsu had reached seventh-class.

However, even though she knew that her current seventh-class Reiatsu was entirely Harry's achievement, Momo Hinamori did not publicize it.

This breathing method was obviously very precious. She absolutely could not let others know about it, especially not those greedy nobles.

Momo Hinamori walked toward the open space in the distance. As she passed Harry, she encouraged him, "Harry, do your best. I'll wait for you over there."

Because of Momo Hinamori's words, everyone shifted their attention to Harry. This was especially true of the testing instructor in front of Harry. He knew Harry had also ignored his Reiatsu just now, so he was very much looking forward to Harry's test result.

"It's your turn," the testing instructor said expectantly.

Harry stepped forward and stood in front of the Spirit Orb, then reached out and placed his palm on the cold orb.

Just like with Momo Hinamori, at first only a shallow white halo rippled inside the Spirit Orb, like thin smoke wrinkled by the wind.

But very soon, as Harry continued to input Reiatsu while deliberately controlling it, the Spirit Orb's light became more and more dazzling, until in the end it looked like a sun.

The sight made everyone stop talking. They stared at the scene with wide eyes and open mouths.

"Sixth-class!" The instructor's voice rose sharply again, so startled that his pen drew a long streak of ink across the record book.

The light inside the Spirit Orb seemed to burn, illuminating the entire hall.

The new students instantly erupted into chaos. The young noble behind Harry completely froze in place, his mouth hanging open in a perfect circle.

Off to the side, several young women holding Asauchi tugged at each other's sleeves, their eyes wide.

Others stood on tiptoe and squeezed forward, wanting to see the exact scene on the testing platform more clearly.

The teachers who had been talking quickly gathered around. One gray-haired female teacher reached out and touched the crystal orb, but the instant her fingertip touched the light patterns, she abruptly pulled her hand back.

"Wonderful. It really is sixth-class Reiatsu. I don't know how many years it's been since sixth-class Reiatsu appeared."

Aside from Kaien Shiba several decades ago, there had not been another new student who possessed sixth-class Reiatsu upon enrollment.

A teacher wearing a monocle pushed up his lens, his gaze constantly sweeping over Harry. "Another genius."

In the shadows of the hall, the headmaster slowly set down the teacup in his hand, and the bottom of the cup made a soft sound against the saucer.

A sharp light flashed through his eyes, and his fingers lightly tapped the handle of his cane. This was a habit he only showed when he encountered something that interested him greatly.

The teachers around him immediately sensed the headmaster's attention. The earlier discussions gradually quieted, turning into suppressed amazement.

Rangiku Matsumoto stood beside the headmaster, looking excitedly at Harry's figure as she said to the people around her, "Hahaha, look at this kid. He's actually sixth-class Reiatsu. I'm the one who found this talent, so once he graduates, he definitely has to join our Tenth Division."

Beside Rangiku Matsumoto, Sosuke Aizen stood slightly farther back in the shadows. The hem of his white haori hung to the floor like a still cloud.

He kept his gentle smile from beginning to end. Even when Harry tested at sixth-class Reiatsu, that smile did not waver in the slightest. Only the fingers adjusting his glasses paused almost imperceptibly, and the light reflected from his lenses just happened to conceal the brief flash of inquiry in his eyes.

"Sixth-class Reiatsu is indeed rare for a new student," he said softly to the Fifth Division member beside him. "Perhaps we can bring him into the Fifth Division."

Rangiku Matsumoto also heard Aizen's words, and she immediately pouted in dissatisfaction. "Captain Aizen, Harry is a talent I discovered. You can't steal him from me."

The smile on Aizen's face remained gentle. "Lieutenant Matsumoto, that's where you're mistaken. Soul Reapers also have the right to choose the division they wish to join. If he insists on choosing the Fifth Division, I certainly won't stop him."

"Hmph. He'll definitely choose the Tenth Division!" Rangiku Matsumoto said. Then she glanced at the white-haired man beside Aizen with a somewhat complicated expression and said no more.

After Harry finished the test, there were not many students left behind him.

However, after Harry, there was unexpectedly another student whose Reiatsu reached ninth-class.

It was a young man named Izuru Kira. He had golden hair of moderate length, with the hair on the left side longer than the rest, naturally falling like a curtain to cover his left eye.

After the Reiatsu test results came out, the class assignments were also quickly announced.

As expected, all the new students with ranked Reiatsu were placed into Class A.

At the entrance of Class A, Harry, Izuru Kira, Momo Hinamori, Renji Abarai, and Rukia Kuchiki stood together and chatted.

The few of them, all possessing astonishing talent, quickly became friends.

When the others learned that Harry and Momo Hinamori were actually childhood friends from the same place, they could not help exclaiming in surprise, "Wow, is your hometown really that amazing? Two geniuses appeared all at once."

The top student and second-ranked student of this class were born in the same place. This would surely become a much-told story.

Although Momo Hinamori did not tell everyone about the breathing method Harry had created, she still said proudly, "It isn't just us. Toshiro also has very strong talent. If he entered Shin'o Academy, his Reiatsu level might even surpass ours."

"Who's Toshiro?" Rukia Kuchiki asked curiously.

"He's our good friend. Right now he has to stay with his grandmother, so he didn't enroll in Shin'o Academy. But a long time ago, his Reiatsu was already strong enough to pressure ordinary spirit bodies around him," Momo Hinamori said.

The others looked at one another, then asked together, "Where were you and Harry born? We have to go visit!"

"I'm also very curious. Where were you two born? Could you tell me?" A gentle, refined voice sounded from the side.

The group turned their heads and immediately cried out in surprise, "Captain Aizen!"

The person who had arrived had short brown hair, neat and smooth, giving him a clean, polished, and refined impression.

His face was handsome and delicate, with distinct features, and the corners of his lips often carried a faint smile that seemed almost there and almost not.

This man was the captain of the Fifth Division, Sosuke Aizen, and also one of the two most popular captains in the Gotei 13.

At this moment, seeing Captain Aizen actually speak to them, everyone except Harry became very excited.

Momo Hinamori hurriedly said, "Captain Aizen, we were born in Junrinan, the First District of West Rukongai."

Aizen extended his slender fingers and pushed up his glasses, using them to hide his sharp gaze.

He thought through all kinds of information related to the First District of West Rukongai, but found nothing special about it.

Then why had three geniuses suddenly emerged there?

Unfortunately, the First District of West Rukongai was too close to the Seireitei. Some plans would be difficult to carry out there. Otherwise, perhaps he could conduct Hollowfication experiments in the First District.

After a brief pause, an extremely approachable smile appeared on Aizen's face. "Everyone, work hard in your studies. If possible, after graduation, you may join our Fifth Division. The Fifth Division very much welcomes talents like you."

The new students were all very excited that a captain had personally come to invite them, and they nodded repeatedly. "Captain Aizen, after we graduate, we'll definitely go to the Fifth Division."

However, Momo Hinamori felt somewhat troubled. She had already promised Rangiku Matsumoto that she would join the Tenth Division. How could she go to another division?

Still, she did not refuse either. After all, this was a captain, and she could not offend him. She only said she would carefully consider the Fifth Division.

As for Harry, he wore the same kind of smile as Aizen and said exactly the same thing as Momo Hinamori, that he would consider the Fifth Division in the future.

After Aizen left, everyone said Captain Aizen was truly a good captain.

Harry, however, had an unreadable expression.

In order to avoid alerting the will of the Bleach universe, he had not directly observed the timeline of this world.

But he could keenly sense that Captain Aizen was not nearly as simple as he appeared on the surface.
