Chapter 36 - Chapter 36

But since both he and Achilles had already begun to notice the effects or figure out their second ability, they were both way ahead of anyone else.

Originally, abilities were only known to people after they ranked up. But after Jamal, who he himself was taught it, had told them about it, anyone who was told about the method could actually choose what their ability was, as long as they could actually visualize, create the effects of it, and were able to make it.

Directly figuring out your skill with your desire to advance your understanding of your power was the simplest and greatest advantage Kimsung had for many, many resets. Now, he finally found out that it was Achilles who must've taught Jamal how the abilities could be predicted and visualized before they were gained.

But it was also terrifying to think that the man before him, who seemed like an idiot, was already aware of this strange ability of his. Achilles had said it allowed him to see the structure of something, as well as being able to see through things, and that was basically X-ray vision!

In combat, such a thing could help him kill monsters with ease, help him evacuate or save anyone in danger, and even defeat monsters by directly aiming at any structurally weak points in its body.

The more he learned about him, the more Kimsung was scared of him. Just what level had Achilles been at in the last resets? Was he already an F-rank? Perhaps, it was rare, but perhaps he might've reached E-rank, knowing the man's terrifying strength and cunning.

Already did Achilles possess such a great control over his skill, not to mention a great creativity and imagination, that he would practically become unmatched once he was F-rank.

Heidi took the time to speak, while Kimsung was thinking.

"Well, my skill allows me to create potions and all things related to Alchemy. I can basically be in charge of all the potions, healing items, and anything else we need for support, since we have no healer right now."

Achilles' eyes widened a bit in surprise and joy.

"Wow. Are you sure you're not a healing-type user?" He asked, a bit surprised an alchemical skill wasn't in the Healing category. Keido spoke next, summoning the Worm of Doubt.

"My skill lets me summon something called an Emotional Beast, and it lets me put a certain emotion in the minds of anything that attacks us."

Keido summoned his Worm of Doubt, and it flew behind him, then to his hand, coiling around his finger. The Worm was summoned at a small size, but Achilles still shot up in surprise.

"What the fuck! That shit behind you scared the fuck out of me…" He laid back down, rubbing his eyes.

"Alright, so what do you do again?" He asked Kimsung, looking at him. Kimsung sighed in disappointment, because his skill had to be the easiest to remember out of all three of them.

"My skill is in basic explanation, time manipulation. It lets me see some time into the future." He explained in an almost bored, mundane tone. Achilles felt impressed on the inside, his eyebrows raising.

"Well that'll be pretty fucking good in a fight."

The topic changed to their next steps, and delicately moving around the true reasons why they'd need a plan to leave the city in case they had to. Of course, the true reason was to travel to Chicago and find Jamal, then leave to the U.K. for Arthur.

A couple hours later of discussion, Achilles got off the bed and headed out to the mainroom, taking out various food items and cooking equipment, like a miniature stove, rice cooker and a container of rice. He himself before the disaster never did save rice, because he'd always made it to eat the same day, but now Achilles had the chance to do so without issue.

While Achilles was making his own food, the trio stayed in the room to talk.

"He's already started to figure out his F-rank Ability, and it hasn't even been a month. It's probably got to do with the North American Realm." Keido says, a bit impressed by how fast Achilles had progressed in a little under half a month.

Not much was known about the North American Realm, aside from the fact that regular mythological defenses had next to no effect here, so anything that wasn't protected by Native American protection charms was borderline ineffective. In essence, realms are the filters for each and every continent, usually drawn from either mythology or history.

Perhaps it was the absence of a filter which allowed people in the North American Realm to progress in power so quickly, reaching ranks that were far ahead of the Fifth Disaster, when at the time, the strongest were the A-ranks. It was a mystery, and unfortunately not one neither of the trio wanted to find out, lest they attract the attention of a being stronger than all of them.

"Limiting our time here is the right choice. We just grab Achilles and Jamal, kill David, and get out of this continent to Europe. That's the best course of action we can do right now. Other than that, we have to limit Achilles' growth as much as we can and find better equipment." Kimsung decided, standing up from the bed and also taking out food to make their dinner with.

The trio finished their talk and went to the fourteenth floor, helping make a large community dinner for the current residents inside of the hotel. As they ate and talked with the residents, Kimsung had asked where Achilles had gone off to after eating, since he couldn't find him, and wanted to ask about his skill.

One of the residents, a woman named Susan, told him that Achilles wanted to visit the thirty-third floor, but the stairwells going up to it were destroyed because of an airborne monster crashing down. However, Achilles still insisted on going up, and that's the last she'd seen of him for quite some time.

She brought him to the stairwell Achilles had gone up, and his first thoughts were that it would certainly be a climb up for anybody except for Achilles, since he'd seen that levitating barrier Achilles had used before.

Meanwhile, on the thirty-third floor, outside of a certain room, stood Achilles. Room 3327, a room he'd been meaning to visit for quite some time. He opened the door slowly and listened to the squeak of its hinges as it slowly swung open fully.

After a minute, Achilles took a deep breath and sighed, about to head into the room when he heard a voice.

"I might be a patient man, but you needn't stand out there for so long. It's only me, after all."
