Chapter 111 - Chapter 109: Doctor Marwyn

While Mufasa was eliminating the pests in The Reach, Daenerys Targaryen arrived at the Valyrian ruins with dozens of people, having also traveled by land.

They came here to try their luck as well, hoping to find some treasure like Mufasa did.

Although she didn't have a map, she had dragons—three small ones.

Relying on the little dragons' senses, Daenerys Targaryen actually found a small treasure cache.

Inside, there was a complete set of armor forged from valyrian steel.

There were also many ancient coins and gems.

"Ser Jorah, you have served me for so long. This set of valyrian steel armor is yours!" said Daenerys Targaryen.

She then rewarded the others with the treasures they deserved.

Just as everyone was leaving with their pockets full of jewels, they spotted a ship approaching from the sea.

"A ship in the Smoking Sea? Are they even human?" Jon Snow watched the vessel cautiously as it gradually approached the shore.

"That's the quiet isles!" Jorah Mormont was equally wary of the ship nearing the shore.

"the quiet isles? Who is the captain?" Daenerys Targaryen asked.

"The dreadful Euron Crows Eye. His ship is crewed entirely by mutes. It is truly remarkable that he managed to sail here safely from the sea, but we must leave!" said Ser Jorah.

He did not want to greet Euron Crows Eye. He knew this man well; he was an Ironborn from the Iron Islands, and Ser Jorah was a Bear Islander.

The first thing Bear Islanders learn from childhood is how to guard against Ironborn invasion.

This was because Bear Island had spent many years under the rule of the Iron Islands.

"khaleesi, we are few in number. If we don't leave, we might be in danger. Let's retreat from here!" said Ser Jorah.

"That's right, khaleesi. There are definitely hundreds of pirates on that ship; we are no match for them," Jon Snow also advised.

They looked at the ship anchored in the distance, with its dark red hull, black sails, and a Golden Kraken emblem.

Daenerys Targaryen finally ordered a retreat.

Shortly after they left, a group of people disembarked from the quiet isles. They came from all over the world: some were Summer Islanders as dark as ink, and others were Sothoryos Continentals, resembling apes.

Their leader was Euron Crows Eye, wearing an eye patch over one eye and a tricorn hat on his head.

"Valyrian ruins, I have finally arrived. But since others were here just now, it seems the horror stories about this place aren't entirely true."

"It is rumored that Mufasa found priceless treasures here. I wonder if I can find something even better."

Euron Crows Eye commanded all his crew members to start a thorough search.

Finally, after losing eighteen crew members, Euron Crows Eye found a large cache of gold artifacts and a mysterious horn.

Euron Crows Eye had a good eye; he could tell that the horn was the most valuable item.

"This trip wasn't wasted! However, the writing on this horn seems to be Valyrian Script. I need to capture someone who understands it to ask. Where should I go? Volantis, or Slavers Bay?"

Euron pondered for a long time and decided to head to Slavers Bay.

Daenerys and the others, who had left earlier, also planned to go to Slavers Bay to sell all the artifacts and gems they found, and then use that money to purchase an army: the Unsullied.

Daenerys Targaryen was even thinking about hiring a few mercenary companies! However, she estimated that she didn't have enough money, unless she could come across another windfall.

Daenerys and Euron Crows Eye were both heading to Slavers Bay coincidentally.

How will Meereen, Yuan Kai, and Astapor—these three cities—react to the arrival of both parties?

Oldtown, The Hightower.

House Hightower invited Mufasa here for a Magic Exchange Conference.

It was common knowledge that their family secretly researched magic, and some even claimed they were studying dreadful Necromancy.

Mufasa arrived in Oldtown with Margaery Tyrell and her mother, Alerie. They traveled along the Rose Road.

Along the way, they saw that the people affected by the Locust Plague had begun to resume their daily lives, despite losing a season's worth of grain.

However, crops in The Reach can be harvested three times a year, so as long as they sow seeds promptly, they can still reap another harvest.

"Mufasa, this is your first time in Oldtown, isn't it?" Margaery asked, sitting opposite Mufasa.

They were currently sitting in a carriage, with only half a day's journey remaining until they reached Oldtown.

"It is indeed my first time!" Mufasa replied.

"When we arrive in Oldtown, I can show you the famous sights!" she said, smiling cheerfully.

"What famous sights does Oldtown have?" Mufasa asked.

"The Hightower, the castle of House Hightower. It's eight hundred feet tall, significantly taller than The Wall."

"The Starry Sept. This is a sept that only the Great Sept of Baelor in King's Landing can compare to."

"The Citadel, where countless maesters and Doctors live, study diligently, and conduct experiments."

"And many Exotic Temples: the Sailor's Sept, the Lord's Sept, the Mother's House, and so on!" Margaery said.

To her, this was her mother's home, so she often visited since childhood and was very familiar with it. She was also very familiar with her uncles and aunts.

"Is there a Doctor named Marwyn at The Citadel?" Mufasa asked.

He really wanted to meet this Doctor, whom both Qyburn and Grand Maester Pycelle highly respected. Mufasa, however, had not had the chance to meet him.

"You will meet him when we get to The Citadel, trust me, Mufasa! Since he is a Doctor, he is naturally a member of the Conclave, holds a high position at The Citadel, and will be easy to find," Margaery said.

They arrived in Oldtown, a port city even larger than King's Landing. Yet, it was much cleaner and tidier than King's Landing, without any smell of horse urine. The air seemed to carry a sweet scent, perhaps because it was the mouth of the Honeywine River.

Mufasa first visited Lord Hightower with Margaery and her mother, and then Margaery took Mufasa to The Citadel to find Doctor Marwyn.

When Mufasa met Marwyn, he noticed the man had a thick, bull-like neck and a slab-like jaw.

He was short and stout, but his chest and shoulders were solid, and he had a round, beer belly. Stiff white hairs sprouted from his ears and nostrils.

Mufasa could tell his nose had been broken more than once, and when he introduced himself, he revealed teeth mottled red from Sourleaf.

Around his neck, he wore a Valyrian Steel Chain, symbolizing his profound expertise in magic and the arcane.
