Far away in Oldtown, Mufasa was in The Hightower, discussing magic with Lord Hightower and Marwyn.
Mufasa had never encountered Necromancy, but Lord Hightower possessed this most miraculous form of magic.
"Necromancy can indeed bring the dead back to life, but the price to be paid is not small," Lord Hightower said.
"Then how can one undo Necromancy?" Mufasa asked.
"Find the person who cast the magic and kill him, and the rest of the resurrected will die automatically."
"Is there any way to find the caster who is hiding?" Mufasa asked.
"You need an object that he has used," the Lord said.
"As far as I know, advanced Necromancy has long been lost. I didn't expect House Hightower to still possess such a secret manual," Marwyn said.
"No, I can at most resurrect a cat or a dog; I cannot resurrect a human. Moreover, the cats and dogs I experimented with resurrecting became feral, biting anyone they saw, and those bitten would contract rabies."
"That is why I have never used Necromancy since," the Lord said.
Mufasa stayed in Oldtown for a total of seven days before returning to King's Landing. After discussing matters regarding The Wall with Joffrey and the others, he set off once again, intending to return to The Wall.
Before leaving, Mufasa secretly instructed Tyrion to gather evidence of Baelish's murder of Jon Arryn and his illicit relationship with Lady Lysa. Once enough evidence was collected, they could be thrown into the dungeons.
Without Baelish stirring up trouble in the shadows, the rear should be much safer.
When Mufasa arrived at The Wall again, Lü Bu and his men had also returned and reported the situation to Mufasa.
"Craster has been killed by us. His wives all voluntarily chose to remain Beyond the Wall; they did not choose to return with us," Lü Bu said.
"That doesn't matter. But have you found the whereabouts of Mance Rayder?" Mufasa asked.
"He might be at Hardhome. There used to be a unique wildling town there, but for some reason, it was destroyed by something six hundred years ago," Aggo said.
"Tell those who govern Eastwatch-by-the-Sea to go there and check the situation," Mufasa said.
Afterward, Mufasa went to inspect the seven castles that were being repaired.
The largest of these was the Nightfort.
Mufasa looked at the soldiers working and asked.
"How much longer until the repairs are finished? Most importantly, the sleeping and eating areas?"
"General Mufasa, at least another month! We have enough manpower, but the weather is too cold, and sometimes people cannot work outside for long periods," said a knight in charge of supervision. He carried a shield on his back depicting a burning tree; he was from House Marbrand of the Westerlands.
"Keep up the good work!" Mufasa said.
He inspected the other castles under repair as well. The progress was generally fast; they had too much manpower this time.
When Mufasa returned to Castle Black, Lü Bu found him and requested a halberd forged from valyrian steel.
"No problem. I will borrow some of the forges here to craft a weapon for you," Mufasa said.
Mufasa fired up the forges again. Together with Gendry and the fire-breathing Charcoal Fire Dragon Colt, it took them three days to craft a valyrian steel halberd.
When Lü Bu took hold of the weapon, he felt something different.
"It's very light, dozens of pounds lighter than my previous weapon. With this, my attack speed will be even faster," Lü Bu said happily.
Seeing that Mufasa could forge valyrian steel weapons, Lord Commander Mormont of the Night's Watch sought him out.
"General Mufasa, I ask that you not fear the toil and forge a valyrian steel weapon for every soldier. That way, we can face the White Walkers in open battle."
Upon hearing this, Mufasa realized he was being treated like a tool and immediately refused.
However, he chose to have Gendry, Melisandre, and the Charcoal Fire Dragon Colt work together to mass-produce valyrian steel arrowheads.
Gendry possessed unique techniques, Melisandre could enchant them, and the Charcoal Fire Dragon Colt could breathe fire similar to dragonflame.
With these three working together, Mufasa could be a hands-off manager.
While Mufasa was being hands-off, he accompanied the navy of Eastwatch-by-the-Sea on a ship to Hardhome, but found no traces of large-scale wildling activity there.
"General Mufasa, have we come to the wrong place? It seems there are no wildlings here!" asked Ser William Manderly. He was the son of Lord Manderly of White Harbor.
Lord Manderly of White Harbor, Duke Mace Tyrell of Highgarden, and Brynden Tully of Riverrun were collectively known as the "Three Fish."
Duke Mace was the "Blowfish," Brynden was the "Blackfish," and Lord Manderly was the "Eel."
"Search around and see if there are any other clues," Mufasa said.
He did not bring Heraka this time. Heraka had been eating a lot and sleeping a lot lately, and he was growing very fast. He was a size larger than when they were in the Vale.
Several soldiers advanced along the mountain path. When they crested a ridge, they saw on the other side of the mountain a long procession, walking like the living dead.
"What is that!" the soldier, seeing the wights for the first time, said, trembling.
His companion replied, equally trembling.
"Perhaps that is our enemy, the Army of the Dead. But how can there be so many? I cannot even see the end of them."
Both of them felt a surge of fear in their hearts.
Although the army of corpses walking along the mountain path was lined up one by one, their beginning and end were not visible. Roughly counting, there were at least several thousand wights.
"Let's retreat slowly. Don't disturb them, and then go report to General Mufasa," one said.
"But my legs won't move; they seem frozen stiff. Brother, don't leave me alone," the other said, his face full of fear.
The former swallowed hard and ran off without looking back.
The man left behind gave a bitter smile, and finally, because of fear, he couldn't help but scream.
"Ahhh!! Help!"
Although the sound was very small, the Army of the Dead below heard it, not to mention the White Walker leading them.
They immediately rushed towards the source of the sound like a swarm of locusts.
Mufasa led the others in inspecting a few ruined thatched huts.
"Boom!"
"An earthquake?"
