Three years had passed since the fall of the Tower of Heaven.
The calendar had turned from X777 to X778 a few weeks after the Tower incident, and now rested firmly in the autumn of X781. Life in Magnolia had settled into a steady rhythm of growth and quiet strength. Erza's old friends from the Tower had all officially joined Fairy Tail and carved out lives for themselves among the rowdy mages. Especially Simon—he had gone on his own journey not long after settling in and returned months later with his little sister, Kagura, at his side. The young swordswoman quickly earned her place in the guild as well.
Jellal's path had been different. Not long after his friends found their footing, he had quietly left Magnolia on a solitary trip to atone for what he had done at the Tower and to help bring down Grimoire Heart from the shadows. They had not seen him since.
During those three years, Varion had taken Erza, Mira, Lucy, and Brandish on several S-class missions together. The high-stakes quests pushed every one of the girls to grow stronger, their teamwork sharpening into something seamless and powerful. Erza, in particular, had reached full S-class status during X780 after the trials that year—her biggest challenge had been beating Mira for the position.
The children had grown as well. Wendy, Sting, Rogue, Gajeel, Natsu, Lisanna, Elfman, and Meredy were no longer the small, clinging group that had once followed Varion everywhere. They had matured into capable young mages in their own right, and the older ones had begun taking missions themselves—first in small teams, then with growing confidence on solo jobs.
---
Varion had barely stepped through the guild doors when Makarov's voice carried down from the second-floor balcony.
"Varion. My office. Now."
The tone left no room for questions. Varion gave the girls a quick nod—Erza, Mira, Lucy, Brandish, and Ultear were already settling in at their usual table—and headed upstairs. The door clicked shut behind him.
Makarov sat behind his desk, hands folded, expression unusually grave. A single sheet of parchment lay in front of him, sealed with the official mark of the Magic Council.
"You've been requested by name," the Master said without preamble. "An SS-class quest. The 100 Year Quest on Giltena—to seal or defeat the five Dragon Gods."
Varion's eyes sharpened. He had heard about this quest before, but it had always felt too far from Fiore while the kids were still so young. Now things were different.
Makarov continued, voice low. "I've watched you grow these past three years, lad. You've surpassed Gildarts. Your control, your power, your judgment… I'm confident you're the only one in this guild who stands a real chance. But this quest will take a long time. Years, perhaps. It is completely up to you if you wish to take it."
Silence stretched for only a heartbeat.
"I'll take it," Varion said quietly. The thought of the challenges ahead ignited a quiet fire in his chest.
Makarov studied him for a long moment, then gave a slow nod. "Then it's yours. Good luck, my boy."
Varion left the office without another word. He found the five women waiting exactly where he'd left them, their easy morning chatter fading the instant they saw his face. Erza straightened first. Mira's playful smile slipped. Lucy's eyes widened. Brandish's lazy posture went rigid. Ultear tensed, though she said nothing.
He didn't draw it out.
"I've been given the 100 Year Quest on Giltena," he said, voice steady. "The quest to seal or defeat the Dragon Gods. I accepted. And I'm going alone."
The words landed like stones in still water.
Erza's hand tightened around the edge of the table. Mira's demonic aura flickered for half a second before she forced it down. Lucy's eyes shimmered with sudden worry. Brandish sat up straighter, her usual nonchalance cracking. Ultear looked stricken but remained silent.
Varion stepped closer, meeting each of their eyes in turn—his girlfriends, his family, the women who had stood beside him through every battle and every quiet night.
"I don't know how long I'll be gone," he said softly. "But this is something I have to do. Alone. I need you all here—keeping the guild strong, watching over the kids, being the heart of this family while I'm away."
The worry hit them in waves.
Erza's voice came first, tight with concern. "Alone? Varion, that continent is dangerous even for S-class mages. We've trained together for years. Let us come with you."
Mira crossed her arms, her tsundere mask slipping as real fear showed through. "You think we're just going to sit here and wait? What if something happens? We're stronger together."
Lucy bit her lip, fingers twisting in her skirt. "We just got used to doing missions as a team… I know you're strong, but… how long is 'a long time'? Months? Years?"
Brandish's lazy smirk faded completely. "This isn't some local job. You're talking about Dragon Gods. Even if you're the strongest here, going solo on something like that…"
Ultear spoke last, her voice quiet but steady. "I've only just started finding my place here. If you leave… we'll hold everything together. But please be careful. Come back to us."
Varion leaned in, giving each of them a kiss—some soft and lingering, others deeper with quiet intensity. He rested his forehead against Erza's for a moment, then Mira's, then Lucy's. Brandish caught his hand and squeezed it tightly. Ultear's fingers brushed his wrist in silent understanding.
"I'll come back," he promised, voice low and certain. "No matter how long it takes."

Varion stepped off the gangplank and onto the weathered docks of Giltena, the salt-heavy air thick with the scent of fish, spice, and distant magic. The 100 Year Quest had officially begun. Three years of preparation, of growing stronger with the girls, of watching the kids become mages in their own right—and now he stood alone on foreign soil, ready to face the Dragon Gods themselves.
He made it perhaps a hundred feet from the boat when the crowd began to part around a single figure.
She stood in the middle of the bustling pier like a mirage no one else could quite register. A woman in a flowing white kimono trimmed with luxurious black fur, the fabric clinging to every curve in a way that was both elegant and dangerously revealing. Golden embroidery and black floral patterns danced across the silk, a wide obi cinched at her waist, and an ornate crown-like headdress framed long, flowing blonde hair that shimmered like starlight. Her face… It looked so much like Anna Heartfilia that Varion's breath caught for half a second. (Selene)
But she wasn't human.
Power rolled off her in invisible waves—ancient, vast, and unmistakably draconic. The sailors and merchants around her unconsciously stepped aside, never noticing the space they created, never seeing her at all.
Before Varion could form a single thought, her lips curved into a small, knowing smile. A whisper brushed directly against his ear, soft and intimate, as though she stood right beside him.
"You aren't yet strong enough, child of Veldanava."
Her voice carried amusement and something ancient. "So enjoy where I am sending you. It will make you much stronger… I'm sure you will find your own way back when you are ready. I do need you to fight Acnologia for me after all."
The smile widened, playful and regal all at once.
A perfect circle of swirling violet light bloomed beneath Varion's boots. The dock vanished And a strong pulling sensation appeared below him. He had just enough time to say "you sneaky bitch". Then he fell through the portal without a chance to speak, the woman's soft laugh echoing behind him as the world dissolved into color and starlight.
Varion tumbled through the endless void between worlds.
There was no ground, no sky, no sound — only swirling violet light and distant, impossible stars rushing past him in streaks of color. The portal that had opened beneath his feet had swallowed him completely. He fell for what felt like eternity, weightless and helpless, the sensation stretching on without end.
Then, without warning, everything stopped.
His body locked in mid-air. He couldn't move. Not a finger, not a limb, not even his eyes. An invisible force held him suspended in the nothingness, as if the space itself had frozen him in place.
A cold, mechanical voice echoed directly inside his mind.
[Analysis in progress…]
[Unknown lifeform detected… attempting identification…]
[Error… re-analyzing…]
The voice paused, then changed tone — gaining a note of solemn recognition.
**"Recognized: Star Dragon King Factor."**
**"Varion Nava. Child of Star Dragon King Veldanava. Possible Status:Star Dragonoid. Status confirmed."**
**"Varion Nava. Star Dragonoid. Heir to Veldanava. Beginning dispersion of skills."**
A surge of raw information flooded Varion's mind. In that frozen moment, one clear thought rose above everything else:
*I really want to return home someday… to the girls, to the kids, to my family.*
The Voice of the World registered the deep emotional want behind the thought.
**"Request acknowledged. Granting skills in accordance with biological disposition and emotional wants."**
**"Intrinsic Skill acquired: Stellar Heart."**
***Intrinsic Skill acquired: unnatural status annulment & elemental resistances ***
***intrinsic skill acquired: hyper regeneration***
**"Unique Skill acquired: Stellar Domination."**
**"Unique Skill acquired: Cosmic Insight."**
**"Unique Skill acquired: Astral Gate."**
The overwhelming rush of power finally eased. The invisible restraints holding him vanished.
The void around him began to shift once more. A new bright light appeared far below, pulling him toward it.
---
Varion's eyes snapped open to sunlight filtering through thick green leaves of the trees. He lay on his back in a small clearing, soft grass cushioning him, the mouth of a shallow cave just a dozen paces away. The air smelled of earth, moss, and something far richer—alive in a way he had never known.
He pushed himself up slowly, head spinning from the fall through the void. No pain. No broken bones. Just the faint echo of that womens amused whisper still ringing in his ears.
*You aren't yet strong enough, child of Veldanava…*
Varion drew in a breath.
And froze.
It felt… wrong. No—*right*. More right than anything in his entire life. Every previous breath he had ever taken suddenly felt like it had been pulled through a heavy, suffocating filter that blocked out most of the air. This was different. Pure. Unfiltered.
He inhaled again, deeper this time.
Magicules he somehow knew the name instinctively.
Not ethernano. Not the thin, filtered magic he had known in Earthland. This was raw, living magicules flooding straight into his lungs, racing through his bloodstream, saturating every cell, every fiber of muscle and scale beneath his skin. It filled him from the inside out with a warm, humming fullness he had never imagined possible—like drinking from an endless spring after years of drought.
A wide, involuntary grin split his face.
He felt alive. More alive than he had ever been. Power thrummed in his veins, starlight flickering faintly along his arms as his Dragonoid nature responded to the new environment. The Cardinal World welcomed him like it had been waiting.
Then his mind caught up.
The voice…
Before the fall, that cold, mechanical presence, the Voice of the World he knew that's what it was called instinctively as well which was kind of weird, had spoken directly into his soul. It had recognized him. It had granted him skills.
'What did that even mean skills? How do I use them?'
The moment the question formed in his thoughts, something answered.
Not words. Not instructions. Just an instinctive nudge, as natural as flexing a muscle he had always possessed but never known was there. The knowledge simply *was*.
Varion lifted his right hand, palm up, and focused.
**Stellar Domination.**
The skill unfolded inside him like a constellation igniting. He could feel it—**Stardust Magicules**. Ultra-pure star energy, denser and more potent than anything he had ever wielded. The strongest energy in this world, the foundation of Star Magic itself. Only those with the true Star King Dragon Factor could touch it properly.
He tried to shape it.
A tiny spark of silver-white light flickered above his palm. It shimmered like captured starlight, swirling with impossible density. For half a second it held—a perfect, glowing orb no larger than a marble.
Then it wavered.
Varion gritted his teeth, pouring more focus into it. The spark fought him. It wanted to expand, to become something greater, but his control was too raw, too new. Sweat beaded on his forehead. The orb flickered again, dimmed, and collapsed into a harmless shower of glittering motes that dissolved into the air.
He exhaled sharply, lowering his hand.
Even that tiny effort had drained him more than he expected. But the skill had shown him more in that brief struggle—its true nature whispering through the connection.
**Stellar Domination** didn't just create Stardust Magicules. It granted him dominion over them in ways that felt almost godlike in potential. He could already sense the sub-abilities waiting beneath the surface: the power to bend and intensify starlight into beams or illusions, to crush or lift objects with stellar gravity, to summon star-core heat or cool it to absolute zero, and even a faint thread of minor life manipulation—the ability to nurture or wither living things on a small scale, as though the stars themselves could decide the fate of seeds and sparks of life.
All of it tied back to Stardust. All of it his birthright as Veldanava's son.
But right now it was barely a spark. The skill was there, humming eagerly inside him, yet his body and magicule reserves were still too new to this world to wield it properly. He would need time, training, and growth. He could feel that just by being in this world his energy reserves would expand rapidly to a certain point.
Varion laughed softly under his breath, the sound full of wonder instead of frustration. He rose to his feet, stretching his arms wide and taking another deep, greedy breath of pure magicules. His crimson hair caught the sunlight and shimmered with faint starlight.
He was in a new world. Alone. Cut off from everyone he loved.
And he had never felt more alive.
The cave mouth loomed nearby, dark and inviting, probably a good place to rest and test his new limits without drawing attention. Beyond the clearing, tall ancient trees stretched toward a sky that felt… different. Wilder. Full of power.
Varion rolled his shoulders.
"Alright," he murmured to the empty forest, voice steady and determined. "Let's see what I can really do."

Hey so I didn't want to spoil anything up top but I really hope you enjoyed the way I did this and if you have any ideas or serious complaints about varion skills please know he will get stronger over time I made it so his having lived in earthland has weakened him due to after a certain point he just wasn't receiving enough energy from magic in the air and magicules are mush more energy potent. Please leave ideas or changes. It will help a lot.
P.s. I hope yall like the r18 chapter being on its own rather than in chapter to appease all that I can.
