Seth elaborated, "Well because all of these companies are investing in AI they are buying up all of the computer parts and they are driving the prices up."
I then inquired, "So, you're saying that I should bet on computer part manufacturer stock going up?"
Seth said, "I don't really know about stocks but if anything is going to get more expensive it will be the ram. The AI basically runs on the stuff."
Nathan then said, "That's an interesting idea. The stock for computer parts, huh. I'll look into that."
The girls came over and urged us to get going.
We walked into the pumpkin field to start our search for pumpkins. The way it worked was that you would find and pick your own pumpkins, then bring the pumpkins to the front where you would test the size and that would determine the price.
We decided to split up into groups and wander around.
While we were walking around, Layla asked, "You know, I never asked if your family celebrates Halloween. You know about mine but I never asked about yours."
I responded, "Well, yeah we do? It's kind of hard to describe. My mom loves giving out candy to the neighborhood kids. She even gets full sized candy bars to be the cool house. But, she hates decorating for halloween.
Mainly because it creates a mess you have to clean up later. Not only that but Halloween decorations are crazy expensive for what they are."
"Yeah, they are unreasonably expensive. Just because you slap Halloween on it doesn't make it worth more."
"I agree, marketing really is stupid. I would actually buy more decorations if they were cheaper, but I guess that is only from my view point. If it's selling then it's working."
"So, you like Halloween?"
"Yeah. Though I like all holidays. When you celebrate holidays you can really feel the flow of time much better. It helps me realize how fast we are living our lives. I don't know when 10 years stopped feeling like a long time."
"Wow. That's depressing."
"Yeah. Let's talk about what kind of pumpkin we want to gut and carve into."
"Well, I like nice big pumpkins. So that I can carve out some ghoulish faces."
"I'm not really a fan of the carving because of how slimy the guts are but cutting out the faces is pretty fun. I like medium sized pumpkins more than the large ones."
"You mean you don't like the satisfying squish of pumpkin guts?"
"No, I would rather bang my knuckle on some metal piece because the wench slipped, in the cold, than dig out a pumpkin's guts."
"Gasp. You take that back, there is nothing worse than hitting your knuckle in the cold."
"No, pain is momentary, gross is forever."
"Ha, so you hate the slime stuff then?"
"Yeah. I could never understand why so many people like playing with something so unhygienic."
"You just don't know how to have fun."
We continued walking and talking while looking at the pumpkins.
Layla saw a few that she liked but seemed like she had no intention of getting one. I know her family will get mad at her for it, and I guess that is enough of a reason not to get one.
I got a little peeved so I went and got a wheelbarrow. Then I got a large pumpkin and two medium pumpkins.
While we were walking over to the checkout area Layla tried to say something but I cut her off.
"I-"
I stopped, turned to look at her and slapped the large pumpkin, "If you want to crave him up you can do it at my house. I'll keep it there."
With that said I picked the wheelbarrow back up and kept moving.
We were the second group done, Mariana and Seth finished first and got a few mini pumpkins.
I paid for the pumpkins and put them into the trunk of the car. I keep a moving blanket in the back of the car just for situations like this where I don't want to get the carpet dirty.
We then sat down and started talking to Mariana and Seth, which didn't last long because Samantha came over and asked me if I would help her grab her pumpkins.
I agree and we each grab a wheelbarrow.
When we got a distance from them Samantha said, "So, what exactly are you playing at?"
"Huh? What do you mean?"
"I heard from Layla about the whole little business you're planning."
"Ok, and?"
"What are you thinking? Surely you are not just spending all of that money just to try to get into Layla's pants. You have to be planning more."
"I see what you mean but I do genuinely think I can make it profitable."
"Really? Why do I find that hard to believe? I know you are doing most of this for Layla. You obviously overheard us in the bathroom at the diner. You aren't that sneaky."
"Well, I don't think that I'm sneaky. And I guess you're right. I didn't just do it for her. I also think I will make money on this deal."
"How? It's definitely not from selling cars or the Metube."
"Thats true, both of those are to help Layla get her legs under herself. Has she told you about the patents?"
"Patents? I heard that she was going to be doing tests and making prototype parts in her free time."
"Right, any new patents will be in her name, but ownership will be my company's. Which means profits will be managed by my company."
"So, you're stealing her patent rights?"
"No, she will still be getting a lot of money from the patents she has but in the form of a monthly bonus."
"That still sounds shady and like you're trying to rip her off."
"You do know that some of the machines she will be using cost more than $1,000,000, right?"
"Holy- How much?"
"Yeah it's a lot of money. I need some way to make back the money spent on this business. Plus I can act like a buffer to keep other companies from harassing Layla for whatever she creates. Additionally Layla gets to live her dream life quickly. Working on cars, designing new parts, and making lots of money."
"How do you figure that she will be making lots quickly?"
"Metube. All I have to do is pay for targeted advertising and the rest will happen naturally."
"Do you think that will be enough?"
"Layla is extremely attractive and passionate about cars. Any guy that is a car nut will fall head over heels at first sight. I think she would struggle to fail."
"You have a point."
