Chapter 54 - Pumpkin Date [3]

Once we were done talking, I decided to show her the rest of the house.

We walked upstairs and I began showing Layla the house.

Layla made the comment, "Wow, it's big."

"Yeah, it definitely looks small on the outside."

While Layla and I were looking at each room my mom showed up saying, "You must be my son's friend, my goodness you're pretty."

I could only cringe and introduce Layla, "Mom, this is Layla and Layla this is my mom."

Layla gave a short wave and said, "Hello, it's nice to meet you."

Mom responded, "It's nice to meet you too."

I then continued the conversation, "Mom, Layla and I will be carving the pumpkins we got today. Her family is really religious so they don't like this kind of thing."

Mom, "Oh, that must be rough. People like that can be pretty tiring."

Layla, "Yeah, they can get a bit much. But they are good people at heart."

With that started a conversation that I wasn't a part of, I said that I was going to get the pumpkins and carving tools and the only response I got was an ok and a head nod.

I went downstairs, out to the car and retrieved the pumpkins and placed them on the picnic table we had. I can't remember where it came from.

I walked back inside and to my storage room, it had all of my tools. I rummaged around looking for tools that would be good for carving a pumpkin. I had a reciprocating saw, a jigsaw, and a drywall saw. I could also grab a kitchen knife or just use my pocket knife.

I got everything out of storage and onto the picnic table outside I went back upstairs to get Layla.

Once I got there I saw that they were still engrossed in conversation, now they were talking about Tarot cards or something? How did they even get to this topic.

I waited for a minute waiting for a break in the conversation to tell them that I had everything ready.

But when I did Layla said, "Ok, I'll be there in a minute."

I was shocked. Sidelined by my own mother.

Well I wasn't going to just stand around waiting for their conversation to be over. So I descended back into the depths of my lair.

Back to my office.

I threw on the AR glasses and got to work using the AI to get information on the other volatile stocks. As well as stress test the computers and their abilities.

I also gathered the data on rug pulls and other stock dumping data. I wanted the AI to have a bunch of information to prepare for Tuesday.

It took nearly 3 hours for Layla and mom to finish their conversation and it was nearing 5:00.

While they were talking I made a few discoveries.

One, I was severely underestimating the supercomputer's capabilities. A modern supercomputer can process data at speeds exceeding one quintillion calculations per second.

Honestly one supercomputer could probably handle what I'm asking it to but I have 7 computers and 1 laptop.

I should be able to handle 123 volatile stocks across 7 supercomputers.

When I did the simulated testing it proved to be right. The largest problem being the storage once again limiting the AI's abilities. I have 95.2 PB of storage but across 123 stocks that wouldn't be enough.

However if I think about it, the previous data of the stock is irrelevant because it would be inapplicable to the current stock fluctuation. So the data that I really need is not data for the stock specifically, but in how inflated stocks fall.

I believe I have enough storage for that. But if I don't it shouldn't really matter because I have an upgrade coming up. The third upgrade for the new stuff, which will give all the storage I could need.

While I was checking the latest simulated run on inflated stock crashing, Layla stopped in the doorway to my office.

I didn't see her because of all of the pop ups and monitors covering my desk, but she could see me.

I didn't know she was there until she said, "You know, you're actually pretty hot when you work."

"Huh? What?"

I was surprised to hear someone talking and didn't even register what was said.

Layla said, "Oh, nothing. Just that I finished talking to your mom and she is awesome. I wish my mom was like her."

"Huh? Oh, yeah, everyone says that. Just give me a minute to close this."

I realized that she must have been looking at me looking at screens and mumbling to myself about data and predictions.

Which is kind of embarrassing.

I closed out of everything and got up to go outside with Layla.

As it was late October the sun set pretty early. The sun was going down but we still had about an hour of daylight left.

Though, even if it set, we had outdoor lighting.

So we had nothing to worry about.

Layla looked at the collection of tools and said, "These seem kind of over kill for pumpkins."

"Maybe so. But it will be easier and more satisfying using electric tools for this. Plus my hand wont cramp using those crappy small plastic tools they sell now."

"I actually think it's genius. I'm going to be way better at using these than a hand saw."

"So, how do we start this? I mean I have done this before but only as a kid."

"Well, first you need to find a design. I actually have a few designs saved on my phone. I just have to decide on which to use."

Layla looked through her phone and found the pictures, she decided on a witch design.

She held up her phone and looked at the pumpkin and said, "Now, the hard part. Drawing the design on the pumpkin. I wish there was an easier way to do this."

I got an idea and said, "Hold on, can you send me the picture?"
