Chapter 110 - Chapter 109 The Fall Of The World Eater

Chapter 109 The Fall Of The World Eater

A cold wind swept across the battlefield as they all stood outside, weapons in hand, eyes fixed on the suffocating wall of mist that coiled unnaturally before them. The fog rolled and twisted like a living thing, thick and heavy, swallowing the horizon.

Felldir stepped forward, his robes fluttering around his legs. He tightened his grip on his staff, jaw set with determination. "Dragonborn," he called out firmly, his voice steady despite the tension in the air, "we must dispel this mist and then force him to come down and face us!"

Beside him, Hakon adjusted his stance, planting his boots firmly into the ground as if bracing against an invisible storm. His gaze sharpened, calculating. "We must combine our Clear Skies Thu'um at the exact same moment," he said, raising his chin slightly. "If we shout together, Alduin's fog will vanish."

Gormlaith drew her bow halfway, glaring into the swirling haze as though she could pierce it with sheer will. Her teeth clenched. "Alduin!!!" she roared into the mist, her voice echoing. "You will not hide behind this fog forever!"

Behind the three ancient heroes, Alex and Emma stood side by side, watching closely. Emma's fingers hovered near the hilts of her twin swords, her shoulders tense. Alex narrowed his eyes, studying the movement of the fog, his mind already preparing for the next threat.

Astrid stepped forward to stand with Felldir, Hakon, and Gormlaith. She inhaled deeply, closing her eyes for a brief second as she steadied her racing heart. When she opened them again, they burned with resolve.

"Alright," she said, lifting her head. "On one… two… three!"

All four drew in breath simultaneously, their chests expanding.

"LOK VAH KOOR!"

The Clear Skies Thu'um exploded from them in a unified shockwave. The air itself seemed to tremble. The thick fog shuddered violently then tore apart, blown backward as if struck by an invisible hurricane. The sky above briefly cleared, revealing distant clouds swirling in confusion.

For a heartbeat, there was silence.

Then, from far beyond the mountains, a thunderous roar shook the heavens.

The mist began to crawl back.

Dark vapor poured in once more, thicker than before, spreading across the field in seconds.

"Again!" Gormlaith shouted, already drawing breath, her face lit with fierce excitement. "I knew it would work!"

The four did not hesitate.

"One… two… three!"

"LOK VAH KOOR!"

Another blast of Clear Skies tore through the fog. It scattered again, only to slowly seep back like black smoke rising from unseen cracks in the earth.

Felldir grimaced, his brows furrowing. Sweat began to bead at his temple. "Again!" he urged, lifting his staff for balance. "Do not falter! I know he cannot keep creating this mist forever!"

Astrid clenched her fists, nodding sharply. Hakon steadied his breathing. Gormlaith spat to the side and lifted her chin defiantly toward the sky.

For the third time, they inhaled together lungs burning, voices strained but unyielding.

"LOK VAH KOOR!"

The Thu'um burst forth with even greater force. The shockwave ripped across the battlefield, tearing the fog apart at its very core. The dark mist twisted violently, thinning, shredding, scattering into nothingness

And this time… it did not return.

The air became clear. The sky opened above them, vast and empty.

For a brief moment, only the sound of wind remained.

Then, somewhere in the distance, a deep, rhythmic thoom… thoom… thoom began to echo across the open sky.

The sound of colossal wings beating against the air rolled toward them like distant thunder. The ground trembled faintly beneath their boots. A powerful gust of wind followed, whipping cloaks and hair violently around their bodies.

A shadow passed over them.

And then came the roar.

Alduin's deafening bellow tore through the heavens, so loud it felt as though it clawed at their very bones.

Gormlaith stepped forward, feet planted wide, bow raised high toward the sky. Her eyes blazed with battle hunger. "Alduin!" she shouted back, her voice fierce and unyielding. "Today is your last day!!!"

Above them, the World-Eater descended from the clouds.

Alex tilted his head upward and froze.

His pupils shrank.

Astrid wasn't exaggerating.

Alduin looked even larger than before. His scales seemed darker, almost absorbing the light around him. Jagged horns framed his monstrous head, and his wings stretched across the sky like a living storm.

"Astrid wasn't lying…" Alex muttered, tension creeping into his voice. His fingers twitched slightly as he assessed the dragon's overwhelming presence. "He's bigger than before. If we delay this any longer, he'll only grow stronger."

Emma slowly rolled her shoulders, loosening the stiffness in her arms. With a smooth motion, she reached behind her back and drew both swords in one fluid pull. The steel gleamed under the pale light.

A faint smirk tugged at her lips. "Heh. Flying lizard."

High above, Alduin circled them leisurely, as if savoring the moment. Each beat of his wings sent powerful currents of wind spiraling downward, forcing them to brace themselves.

His massive head lowered slightly as he spoke, his voice reverberating like rumbling mountains.

"Are you ready… for the second round?"

His burning, molten eyes locked onto the Dragonborn.

"Had you arrived any later," he continued, smoke curling from his nostrils, "I would have ensured my victory one hundred percent."

Then his gaze shifted slowly toward the others. Alex. Emma. The ancient heroes.

"But no matter," he growled, lips curling to reveal rows of enormous fangs. "With my current power… I can sweep you all aside."

Without further warning, his chest expanded.

The air grew unbearably hot.

"GET DOWN!" someone shouted

Alduin unleashed a massive torrent of fire.

It was far greater than before. A raging inferno poured from his jaws, wide enough to swallow them whole. The flames roared like a collapsing sun, scorching the ground instantly and turning stone red-hot.

Alex reacted on instinct.

His eyes flashed with focus as he thrust his hand forward. Invisible force surged outward.

The air around them distorted

Telekinesis exploded outward, shoving everyone violently to the sides just as the fire crashed down where they had been standing. The flames consumed the ground, leaving behind molten cracks and rising smoke.

They rolled across the earth before scrambling back to their feet.

"Hey!" Alex called out, breathing slightly heavier, his arm still extended from the strain. "Are you all alright? Don't even think about blocking that with a shield your hands will burn off!"

Above the smoke, Alduin's massive head slowly turned.

His eyes narrowed.

They locked directly onto Alex.

"YOU!!!"

The word boomed like a thunderclap.

"Otherworldly one… who dares to interfere in the affairs of this world!!!"

The fury in his voice shook the air itself.

Alex straightened his coat casually, flicking dust from his sleeve as though this were nothing more than a minor inconvenience. He tilted his head slightly, lips curling into a teasing grin.

"Heh." He met Alduin's burning gaze without fear. "Miss me?"

For a split second, silence.

Then Alduin roared in pure rage.

With explosive force, he folded his wings and dove straight toward Alex, jaws wide open, fangs glistening with heat and saliva.

The speed was terrifying.

The ground cracked beneath the pressure of his descent.

At the last possible moment, Alex twisted his body sideways, barely avoiding the snapping jaws that crushed the earth where he had stood.

"Too slow!" Alex shot back

His free hand sparked with crackling energy.

"Chain Lightning!"

A bolt of blue-white electricity erupted from his palm, splitting into multiple arcs that slammed into Alduin's body. The lightning crawled across the dragon's scales, flashing brilliantly.

For a brief moment, Alduin's body jerked from the impact.

But then

The electricity faded.

The damage was minimal.

Alduin's massive wings beat once, twice he lifted back into the air effortlessly.

A deep, mocking rumble escaped his throat.

He didn't stay grounded.

Instead, he began circling again faster this time. Diving low for quick strikes, then retreating upward before anyone could properly counter.

Hit.

Retreat.

Circle.

The warriors tried to track him, but every time they prepared to strike, he was already back in the sky.

His massive form blurred against the clouds, making it nearly impossible to land a decisive blow.

Above them, Alduin laughed a dark, ancient sound.

The hunt had begun.

"Astrid!" Alex's voice cut sharply through the chaos, urgency clear as he ducked beneath another sweep of wind from Alduin's wings. He pointed up toward the circling dragon. "Use Dragonrend! He's too dominant in the sky we have to weaken him!"

Gormlaith loosed an arrow that vanished uselessly past Alduin's flank, her expression tightening in frustration. She lowered her bow just enough to shout, "Your friend is right! Even my arrows struggle to hit him because of those wings!" She spat to the side, already reaching for another arrow. "He moves the air itself!"

Astrid inhaled slowly, forcing her heartbeat to steady despite the thunder overhead. She planted her boots firmly into the scorched ground, rolling her shoulders back. Her fingers tightened around her weapon as she lifted her chin toward the sky, eyes locking onto Alduin's massive silhouette.

The wind whipped her hair across her face, but she didn't blink.

She drew in a deep breath

"JOOR… ZAH… FRUL!"

The Dragonrend tore from her throat with raw force, the sound vibrating through the battlefield like a crack in reality itself.

For a split second, it seemed the shout might connect

But Alduin twisted midair with unnatural agility. His enormous wings snapped sharply to one side, his body rolling away as the Thu'um grazed past him and shattered harmlessly against distant clouds.

A deep, mocking chuckle rumbled from his chest.

"You think I am so slow," Alduin sneered, smoke curling from between his fangs, "as to be struck by that shout?"

His chest expanded again.

Astrid's eyes widened. " !"

A torrent of fire erupted from his jaws, blazing straight toward her.

"Damn it!" she hissed, bracing instinctively, knowing she couldn't fully evade in time.

"ASTRID!" Emma shouted.

Without hesitation, Emma sprinted forward, blades in hand. She crossed them defensively as she threw herself toward Astrid, trying to shove her out of the fire's path.

But the flames were enormous far wider and faster than before. The heat alone stung their skin from meters away.

"This is bad !" Emma muttered through gritted teeth, realizing they wouldn't make it.

The fire crashed downward

And just before impact, the air distorted violently around them.

An invisible force seized both women.

They were yanked sideways in an instant, boots scraping against the ground as telekinetic energy hurled them clear of the inferno. The flames slammed into the earth where they had stood, exploding into a storm of embers and molten cracks.

Astrid and Emma tumbled across the dirt before coming to a stop several meters away.

Smoke rose between them and the blazing impact site.

Alex stood with one arm extended, fingers splayed, veins slightly visible along his temple from the strain. The faint shimmer of telekinetic energy faded around his hand.

He exhaled sharply, lowering his arm with a half-smirk.

"Hey," he called out, trying to mask his relief with casual arrogance. "Did you forget about my power?"

Astrid pushed herself up onto one knee, catching her breath. She turned her head toward Emma, who was also rising slowly, brushing soot from her shoulder.

For a brief moment, the tension between them softened.

Astrid gave her a small nod, sincerity in her eyes despite the chaos around them. "Thank you. Even if it didn't work… I appreciate your intention."

Emma blinked, slightly surprised, then gave a faint, almost shy smile as she adjusted her grip on her swords. "You're welcome."

Above them, Alduin's shadow passed once more.

And the battle was far from over.

"Astrid!" Alex called out sharply, turning toward her while narrowly sidestepping a gust from Alduin's passing wings. His eyes were calculating even in the middle of chaos. "We need a plan to make sure Dragonrend hits him!"

Astrid wiped soot from her cheek with the back of her hand, breathing hard. "I know," she replied, frustration flickering across her face as she tracked Alduin's relentless circling. "He's too fast."

Alex's gaze sharpened.

Then an idea sparked.

His lips curved slightly.

"Gormlaith, Hakon, Felldir come with me!" he shouted, gesturing for them to close in. "We'll distract Alduin. Keep him focused on us so the Dragonborn can land Dragonrend!"

Gormlaith grinned fiercely, already understanding. "Heh. Now you're talking."

Hakon gave a firm nod, adjusting his grip on his weapon. Felldir raised his staff, stepping into formation without hesitation.

The four of them spread out deliberately, making themselves obvious targets.

Alex stepped forward first, lifting his hand toward the sky as Alduin swept low in another pass.

"Hey! Over here!" Alex taunted loudly, raising both arms. "Damn lizard!"

Alduin's burning eyes narrowed at the insult.

Alex clenched his fist.

The air around Alduin shimmered as telekinetic force surged upward, wrapping invisibly around the dragon's massive body. Muscles strained in Alex's arm as he tried to yank him down.

"Come on… move!" Alex growled under his breath.

For a split second, Alduin's descent wavered slightly

but then his wings beat violently.

The sheer weight and power of the World-Eater overwhelmed the telekinetic pull. The strain made Alex's boots grind into the dirt as he resisted the backlash.

Alduin hovered midair, glaring down at him with fury.

"You think that power can drag me down again?" he thundered. "Huh?!"

With a roar, Alduin folded his wings and lunged straight toward Alex, jaws snapping open, claws extended.

Alex didn't move.

Instead

"Good," he muttered under his breath.

Because this was exactly what he wanted.

From the side, Gormlaith had already anticipated Alduin's dive. She inhaled once, steady and precise, her movements smooth despite the chaos.

She drew an arrow back fully, the bowstring tight near her cheek. Her sharp eyes tracked the angle of Alduin's descent, calculating the arc.

"Got you…" she whispered.

She released.

The arrow sliced through the air with deadly precision.

It struck.

Right into Alduin's eye.

A roar of pain ripped from his throat as his head jerked violently to the side. His trajectory faltered mid-dive, wings flaring unevenly as his massive body veered off course.

Black blood splattered through the air.

"AARGH !"

That single moment of imbalance

That flicker of vulnerability

Astrid saw it.

Her eyes widened. This was it.

The opportunity that might never come again.

She planted her feet, ignoring the heat, the wind, the fear. She inhaled deeply, summoning every ounce of strength left within her lungs and soul.

"JOOR… ZAH… FRUL!!!"

The Dragonrend exploded from her in a thunderous wave.

This time

Alduin couldn't evade.

The Thu'um struck him directly.

The ancient power wrapped around his massive form like invisible chains, forcing the concept of mortality upon him.

Alduin's roar shifted from rage… to shock.

His wings faltered.

His body trembled.

And then

He began to fall.

The sky itself seemed to shake as the World-Eater crashed violently onto the battlefield, earth shattering beneath his immense weight.

Dust and debris exploded outward in a shockwave.

Gormlaith threw her head back and laughed fiercely, adrenaline surging through her veins.

"Good!!!" she roared, already nocking another arrow. "Now we slaughter him!"

Gormlaith was the first to move.

With a fierce battle cry, she sprinted toward the fallen dragon, boots pounding against the fractured earth. Hakon followed close behind, his weapon raised high, while Felldir advanced with surprising speed for a mage, frost already gathering at the tip of his staff.

"Do not let him rise!" Hakon roared.

Alduin struggled against the invisible weight of Dragonrend, his massive claws gouging deep trenches into the ground as he tried to push himself up. His wings twitched violently, but they no longer obeyed him fully.

Alex dashed in from the side, coat whipping behind him. Astrid and Emma flanked him without needing to exchange words. They had fought enough now to move as one.

The assault began.

Gormlaith slid low beneath a snapping claw and slammed her bow against it, deflecting the strike just enough to throw Alduin's balance off. "Now!" she barked.

Emma surged forward the instant the opening appeared. Her twin blades flashed in a cross-slash across Alduin's scaled foreleg, sparks bursting on impact before the steel bit through at a weaker joint. She gritted her teeth as resistance vibrated through her arms. "He's tougher than steel !"

Felldir raised his staff high. Frost spiraled outward in a chilling vortex. "FROST TAKE HIM!" he shouted, hurling multiple ice spears toward Alduin's wings.

The spears struck with sharp cracks, embedding into the membrane and freezing across the surface. Frost spread rapidly, stiffening the wings and weighing them down.

Alduin roared and thrashed.

Behind them, Alex extended both hands, invisible force pressing down on Alduin's torso and wings. His jaw tightened with strain. "You're not flying anywhere!" he growled, boots grinding into the dirt as he increased the telekinetic pressure.

Astrid stepped forward beside Hakon.

They exchanged a brief nod.

Together, they inhaled

"FUS RO DAH!"

Their Thu'um exploded in unison, the shockwave slamming directly into Alduin's chest and forcing him back down just as he tried to lift himself.

The ground shattered beneath his weight.

For several intense moments, it was a relentless barrage.

Gormlaith darted in and out, striking at exposed joints. Emma's blades carved deep cuts along his flank. Felldir's frost magic continued targeting his wings. Alex maintained constant pressure from behind, adjusting his telekinesis whenever Alduin tried to rise. Astrid and Hakon alternated their shouts to keep him unbalanced.

Alduin was like a trapped beast.

He snapped and clawed wildly, but every attempt to rise was countered. Every movement was punished.

Black blood began to spill freely across the battlefield.

Deep gashes marked his scales. Ice clung to his wings. One eye bled heavily from Gormlaith's arrow.

His roars grew harsher. Slower.

For a fleeting moment

It felt like victory.

Emma panted, wiping sweat from her brow with her forearm. "He's weakening!"

"Press him!" Gormlaith shouted, loosing another arrow into his shoulder.

Alex allowed himself the smallest grin. "We've got him "

Then

Something changed.

A strange pulse rippled through Alduin's body.

The air grew heavier.

The wounds along his torso began to steam.

"…What?" Astrid whispered.

Before their eyes, torn flesh began knitting itself back together. Gashes sealed. Blood flow slowed. Ice shattered and fell away as scales regenerated beneath it.

The arrow lodged in his eye was forced out as new tissue formed around it.

"You've got to be kidding me…" Alex muttered, his voice hollow with disbelief.

It wasn't just him.

Gormlaith stepped back, lowering her bow slightly in stunned silence.

Felldir's staff trembled in his hand.

Emma's grip tightened unconsciously on her swords as she stared at the regenerating dragon. "No… that's not possible…"

Within seconds, Alduin's wounds were closing at an alarming rate.

The damage they had struggled so desperately to inflict was vanishing.

Hope, which had burned so brightly moments ago, flickered.

Their breathing grew heavier.

Arms trembled from exhaustion. Legs felt like lead. Even maintaining stances required effort now.

Alex's telekinetic hold wavered slightly as fatigue crept into his muscles.

Alduin's chest expanded slowly as he lifted his head again.

And this time

There was no pain in his eyes.

Only ancient fury.

The realization settled over them like a crushing weight.

They were nearly out of stamina.

And he… was not.

But Alex refused to give up.

Even as exhaustion weighed on his limbs and Alduin's regenerated body rose before them, his eyes burned with stubborn resolve.

"…Not like this," he muttered under his breath.

Without warning, he stepped toward Astrid and grabbed the hilt of her Daedric Sword from her hand.

"Alex, what are you " Astrid began, startled by the sudden movement.

But the words died in her throat.

She saw his expression.

Focused. Calm. Dangerous.

Alex didn't grip the sword normally.

Instead, he released it midair.

The blade hovered.

Then

It began to spin.

At first, slowly. A controlled rotation, suspended by invisible force.

Alex raised both hands, fingers twitching as threads of telekinetic energy wrapped tightly around the weapon. His jaw clenched, veins standing faintly along his neck.

Faster.

The Daedric blade rotated quicker, the sharp crimson edges blurring into a circular arc.

Faster.

The air around it began to vibrate.

Wind stirred at their feet.

Faster.

The spinning blade created a sharp whirring sound that grew louder with every second. Dust and debris were pulled inward. Loose stones skittered across the ground toward the vortex forming around the weapon.

The centrifugal force intensified, dragging the surrounding air into a spiraling current. Cloaks snapped violently. Emma had to brace herself against the sudden wind. Gormlaith shielded her face with her arm.

A miniature cyclone formed around the spinning sword.

This technique required buildup time to accumulate rotational force. That was why Alex had never used it in earlier exchanges.

But now

Alduin was distracted, focused on completing his regeneration.

This was the only window.

Sweat trickled down Alex's temple. His arms trembled slightly as he poured more energy into maintaining and accelerating the rotation.

"Astrid!" he shouted over the roaring wind. "Use your final Dragonrend on him! I'm sure he's burning his last strength to heal so I'll burn all of mine in this attack!"

The sword spun faster.

The sound became a piercing scream of metal cutting air.

Astrid staggered, nearly collapsing from fatigue. Her legs shook. Her lungs burned from repeated Thu'um.

But she looked at Alex

And saw that he was risking everything.

She forced herself upright.

Hakon moved slightly as if to steady her, but she raised a hand to stop him. This was her burden.

She inhaled.

It hurt.

Every breath felt like swallowing fire.

But she drew in as much air as her body would allow.

"JOOR… ZAH… FRUL!!!"

Her final Dragonrend tore from her throat with raw desperation.

The shout struck Alduin squarely.

The ancient concept of mortality slammed into him once more.

His wings faltered.

His massive body stiffened.

At that moment

Alduin's burning gaze shifted.

He looked directly at Alex.

He saw the spiraling vortex of wind.

He saw the sword rotating at impossible speed.

And for the first time

There was realization in his eyes.

Too late.

With a sharp motion of both hands, Alex released the telekinetic hold.

The spinning Daedric Sword shot forward.

It didn't fly like a thrown weapon.

It launched like a drill fired from a catapult, propelled by immense stored centrifugal force. The air cracked around it as it pierced through the battlefield in a straight, unstoppable line.

Alduin tried to move

But Dragonrend held him.

The blade struck.

It punched straight through his chest, drilling through scale, bone, and ancient flesh in a single violent burst.

Alduin's roar shattered the sky.

Black ichor exploded outward from the wound, spraying across the scorched earth. The spinning blade tore through him completely before embedding itself deep into the ground behind.

Alduin staggered.

The hole in his torso oozed thick, dark slime.

Then

Cracks of shadow spread across his entire body.

Black ichor began leaking from his eyes, his mouth, between every scale.

"What is happening ?!" his voice thundered, now laced with disbelief. "No… NO!!! Defeated by a mortal?! Impossible!!!"

His body began to disintegrate from within.

Fragments of shadow peeled away like burning ash.

His roar twisted into a fading echo

And then

Alduin vanished.

No corpse.

No remains.

Only silence.

The wind died.

The battlefield grew still.

Alex's arms dropped heavily to his sides as he fell to one knee, breathing raggedly.

Emma stared at the empty space where the World-Eater had stood moments ago. Her fingers loosened around her swords.

"Did… did we win?" she asked weakly, almost afraid of the answer.

For a heartbeat, no one moved.

Then Gormlaith threw her head back and burst into booming laughter.

"HAHAHAHA!!!" she roared triumphantly, slamming her fist against her chest. "The doom of Alduin has finally come true!"

Hakon exhaled deeply, lowering his weapon.

Felldir closed his eyes in solemn relief.

Astrid swayed slightly, exhaustion finally catching up to her but a small, disbelieving smile formed on her lips.

They had done it.

Against the World-Eater himself.

Slowly, cheers broke out among them.

Not just for survival

But for the Dragonborn.

For the end of Alduin.

For a victory that would echo through legend.
