Chapter 259 - Chapter 646: The Choice!

Axel stayed on the rooftop for a while. When there was no one passing below, he leapt down from the roof and slowly walked toward Megalo Tower.

"Vanilla cake! Fresh out of the oven today, half price! Once it's sold out, I'm going home to sleep!"

"Bro, need a ride? My car's top spec, got a simulated mini sun installed inside. Your skin looks so healthy, get some sun and you'll turn wheat-colored!"

"Selling Berries! Legendary Berries from other regions, only five thousand each."

"They say this fruit can heal Ultra Beasts. Maybe if you run into an injured Ultra Beast in the wild, it'll recognize you as its master!"

"Handsome guy, want one?"

"No," Axel waved them off, turning down the vendors and taxis, and couldn't help but laugh.

For some reason, this place always gave him the feeling of the Unova region.

The same high technology, the same city that never sleeps. The only difference was that the people here didn't have Pokémon by their side.

And aside from their skin and eye colors, they didn't look that different from him.

As long as he stayed out of the lights and walked through dim areas, even if members of the Ultra Recon Squad were three to five meters away, it would be hard for them to notice him.

More importantly, Axel was skilled and bold. Even if a few people spotted him, he could hypnotize them instantly with his psychic power.

"Handsome, want to have some fun?"

"Hm?", Axel suddenly felt someone watching him. His psychic power instinctively spread out, and only then did he notice a small pink light glowing in the corner.

Under that light, behind a floor-to-ceiling glass window, sat a young woman in a black long dress, a red ribbon tied over her eyes.

She looked very classical, completely different from the mechanical cyber style of the buildings here.

If someone lacked willpower, they'd probably already be asking about the price.

Seeing Axel turn around, the young woman lightly tapped her lips with her index finger and showed off her proud figure.

"Since you're so handsome, just one thousand."

Climb!

Axel quickly pulled his gaze back and waved to refuse her, almost blurting out, 'Go ask around in the Pokémon world, when has anyone not paid me instead!'

"Hey, don't go, 500 is fine. If that's not okay, I'll give you 500… Ah~!"

'Showing off her voice?'

Axel curled his lips. He didn't deny she was a good girl, but he was a proper gentleman. Showing off her voice was useless.

But right after that, Axel heard metallic grinding sounds, clank clank, and a chunk of iron shot past, grazing the tip of his nose.

He instinctively released his psychic power, then was shocked to find that nearly all the buildings here were breaking apart.

The little room where that good girl was had already fallen into pieces. The building materials and metal structure above were disintegrating, about to smash her into minced meat.

Not just here. The entire street was like this.

It was as if the whole street's buildings were grabbed by an invisible giant hand, twisted, and torn apart.

Skyscrapers let out teeth-grinding groans. Glass curtain walls shattered like fragile ice crystals, the fragments turning into deadly rain pouring down.

After the metal was extracted, the massive concrete structures bent and snapped like crumpled paper, falling from high above with sharp whistling sounds, crashing into the chaotic streets.

The ground shook violently and split apart, asphalt roads bulging or collapsing.

The air filled with choking dust and the scorching smell of metal friction. Sirens, explosions, the roar of collapsing buildings, and people's desperate screams instantly tore apart the city's fake prosperity and calm.

Like a natural disaster.

The street fell into chaos at once. Whether vendors or drivers running operations, everyone ran frantically toward the direction of the Ultra Recon Squad.

"Run! It's another earthquake!"

"My food cart, my food cart fell in!"

"Save me, handsome, please save me!"

Amid the wails, Axel narrowed his eyes. Forgetting about hiding, his psychic power burst out like a tidal wave.

Axel narrowed his eyes. He cursed under his breath, but his movements didn't hesitate at all. Forgetting about hiding, his psychic power surged out overwhelmingly.

The invisible psychic force instantly turned into a tangible barrier, precisely covering the black-dressed young woman who was about to be swallowed by the collapsing room.

Boom!

Huge chunks of concrete and twisted steel bars slammed down hard, but less than half a meter above her head, they were firmly blocked by a visible, slightly distorted ripple in the air.

Debris flew and dust filled the air, but the deadly impact was completely cut off.

"Ah!", The young woman's scream got stuck in her throat, turning into a sharp gasp of disbelief.

The red ribbon on her face had already slipped off, revealing frightened yet unusually bright eyes, staring at the inhuman energy aura flowing around Axel.

"Go!", Axel shouted in a low voice. His voice cut through the noise and exploded directly in her mind.

At the same time, he used his psychic power again, pushing the unstable floor beneath her along with her whole body, gently yet swiftly, toward the relatively safer middle of the street.

Just as he finished here, a food cart vendor whose calf was stuck in a crack in the overturned road let out a heart-wrenching scream.

A huge neon sign, sparking with broken wires, was crashing down on his head.

"Wasn't this supposed to be high tech? How can't it even withstand an earthquake?"

Axel frowned tightly. He instinctively felt something was wrong and began conserving his psychic power.

His figure left a faint afterimage on the spot, while strands of psychic force had already shot out ahead of him.

Instead of resisting head-on, he cleverly wrapped around the edge of the falling sign and used its massive downward momentum, yanking it sharply to the side.

Boom!

The sign brushed past the vendor's nose and smashed hard into the crack beside him, sending shards of stone and sparks flying everywhere.

The vendor was scared out of his mind and scrambled away.

However, Axel's two moves stood out in the chaos like a lighthouse in the night.

"Th… what is that?"

"Is that a psychic from the movies?nSince when does our metropolis have someone like that!"

"My god, he blocked a building!"

At the same time, urgent mechanical alarms rang out.

"Alert! Unknown psychic energy fluctuation detected! Coordinates locked!"

Among the crowd that had just been fleeing in panic, sharp-eyed individuals or members of the Ultra Recon Squad wearing special communication devices immediately cried out.

Several gazes from different directions, filled with scrutiny and hostility, instantly locked onto Axel.

"Reporting to headquarters, reporting to headquarters. Anomalies detected, metal extracted from buildings. Possible intrusion by a psychic from the Pokémon world."

Following the voice, Axel's psychic senses swept out like radar, clearly capturing at least three directions where people wearing Recon Squad emblems were pushing through the crowd and rushing toward him, holding attack devices he didn't recognize.

Farther away, the low rumble of engines approached, clearly patrol vehicles rushing over.

"Damn, I'm exposed!"
