Chapter 230 - Chapter 230: Everyone Has a Few Secrets, Right?

"Aladdin's Lamp?"

Ethan looked at the golden, shining teapot, and only one thought came to mind.

'Could the programmer who designed this world be any more casual when naming things?'

'What the hell kind of Aladdin's Lamp is this?'

'Why not just call it the Seven Dragon Balls already?'

But… Ethan rubbed his chin.

Thinking back to when he used to watch Dragon Ball, he always had one wish.

'Is today finally the day I can make it come true?'

["Oh! Oh! Oh!"]

Ethan grabbed another long bamboo pole.

He directly poked it into the Scarecrow's only remaining head. That's right, everything below its head had already been cut off.

The part below its stomach had been sliced off by the painting monster, and the part below its head had been cut off by the Shadow Guard.

Anyway, now it was just a head.

Ethan stuck the pole under its head, making it look like a giant lollipop.

Tap! Tap! Tap!

After getting its "body" set up, the Scarecrow started hopping around again.

But this time it looked even creepier.

A bamboo pole with a head on top, bouncing around on the ground. That feeling, if this were in the middle of the night on some street, it would probably scare a bunch of passersby to death.

["Alright! Hehehe, thank you, Lord."]

The Scarecrow happily hopped in place a few times, spinning as it bounced.

Seeing that it was about to trigger a trap, Ethan quickly shouted, "Wait—"

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

However, before Ethan could finish speaking, it was already too late.

Because the Scarecrow had stepped right into a trap, and then from all around the walls of the pit, countless poisoned arrows shot wildly toward it.

It instantly turned the Scarecrow into a straw man borrowing arrows.

["Ahhhhhh!"]

The Scarecrow let out a long string of delayed screams.

Ethan said helplessly, "Do you even feel pain? I don't get what you're screaming for."

["You've gotta add some sound effects, otherwise what sense of achievement would these traps have!"], The Scarecrow chuckled, then hopped back toward Ethan, ["By the way…"]

["Lord, did you already know there was a trap over there?"]

["You just didn't tell me on purpose so I'd scout the way for you?"]

The Scarecrow stared at Ethan suspiciously.

Ethan raised an eyebrow and casually collected the arrows stuck in the Scarecrow, "Do I need you to scout for me?"

"I'll tell you the truth. I can see through all the traps at a glance. Unlike you, who can't see anything but still loves to mess around. The fact that you're not dead already is pure luck."

[Poisoned Arrows +98]

'Not bad. At least the Scarecrow didn't get shot for nothing.'

Ethan got nearly a hundred poisoned arrows for free. Who knows, they might come in handy later.

["Tch!"]

The Scarecrow didn't believe him at all and just thought he was bragging, ["If you've got the guts, then go! As long as you can perfectly avoid all these traps, I'll believe you!"]

"You're not a girl. I don't need you to believe me."

Ethan curled his lip, totally uninterested.

The Scarecrow rolled its eyes and said, ["Fine then! If you can perfectly avoid the traps, not only will I believe you, I've got a way to help you bring that stone guy guarding the door outside back with you. How's that for a benefit?"]

"You've got a way to make that big dumb stone guy listen to me?"

Ethan looked at the Scarecrow in a new light.

The Scarecrow grinned proudly, ["Getting him to listen to you is definitely impossible. But getting him to guard the door for you, that I can manage! Isn't that a big enough benefit?"]

"That's definitely big enough!"

Just thinking about having a stone man as strong as a Magus guarding his door, the benefits were obvious.

At the very least, those damn Wilderness Witches wouldn't be able to just walk in whenever they felt like it anymore.

As for what method the Scarecrow would use to make that big dummy obey, Ethan wasn't that concerned.

After all, everyone has their own secrets.

You can ask, but they might not tell you. And even if they tell you, you might not be able to do it anyway.

Take Ethan for example. If he told the Scarecrow that he had a cheat ability that let him see "prompts," so what?

The Scarecrow couldn't copy his ability, right?

["As long as it's big enough,"] The Scarecrow grinned, ["But let's make this clear first! If you accidentally trigger even one trap later, just trigger it, okay? Even if you don't get hurt, as long as it's triggered, you lose!"]

"Fine. And if I lose?"

["If you lose, you have to promise to let the attendant lady take care of me for a year. No switching people halfway,"] The Scarecrow immediately started listing conditions, ["And you're not allowed to force me to come out and adventure with you anymore. Just let me stand in the garden."]

["Then every day, let the attendant lady go to the garden to grow vegetables and flowers. Anyway, just let her keep walking around the garden."]

["At night, she has to carry me back to the room to sleep. It'd be best if you even held a wedding for me and the attendant lady."]

["I've already thought of names for our future kids!"]

["If it's a girl, call her Daisy. If it's a boy, call him Dave!"]

["So, what do you think?"]

"I think you're dreaming. Actually no, you can't even eat farts," Ethan looked at the Scarecrow with disdain, "The attendant lady may be my servant, but she's still a person."

"I will absolutely not force them to do something they're unwilling to do."

"I can let the attendant lady spend more time working in the garden, but forget about the rest."

"Uh…"

The Scarecrow shut its mouth. After a while, it said, ["You won't allow this, you won't allow that! Then what's the point of betting with you? Do you know you're bound to lose, so you don't dare to bet?"]

"Heh! I know I'll definitely win. But even so, there are things that cross my bottom line, and I still won't agree to them."

["You have a bottom line?"], The Scarecrow rolled its eyes, ["Forget it. Talking about a bottom line with someone who has none isn't scientific. Fine, how about this. If you lose, you just tell my story to the attendant lady, and then help me bring up the idea that I want to marry her. That's acceptable, right?"]

"This…", Ethan rubbed his chin. Thinking that bringing the stone man home still depended on the Scarecrow, he finally nodded, "Alright, I agree to that proposal!"

"Oh, right!", The Scarecrow suddenly said, "And one more thing…"

Ethan glared at it, "One more thing? Didn't we agree on just one condition? If you add things at the last minute, I'm not playing anymore."

["Don't be so impatient!"], The Scarecrow chuckled, ["How about this. Whether you win or not, I'll still help you bring that big dummy back! But you have to promise me one last thing, which is to help me chat with the attendant lady."]
