Chapter 409 - Chapter 409: Funeral

Ethan wasn't listening to Nostradamus's sincere advice at all. Instead, he wandered around the living room by himself.

After searching for about a minute, he finally discovered, a space door the size of a grain of rice floating in midair in the hall.

"This really is huge!"

Ethan rolled his eyes, 'Is my talent for space magic really this bad?'

But thankfully, after casting the space door once, he also noticed experience points appear behind the skill description.

[Space Door: EXP 1/100]

He only needed to open a hundred doors to level it up. That wasn't too unreasonable.

If talent wasn't enough, then he'd make up for it with experience.

Anyway, at worst, he'd just grind it a few more times.

This was the confidence of a cheater.

"Hey!", Seeing Ethan completely ignoring him, Nostradamus immediately got angry and said, "Are you even listening to what I'm saying?"

"Aren't those words meant for people who can never become space magicians?", Ethan shrugged, "Then why should I, a proper space magician, listen to your nonsense?"

Nostradamus said with disdain, "You? A space magician? Who are you trying to make laugh?"

"What? You don't believe me?", Ethan rolled his eyes at him and said, "Then come over and look."

Hearing that, Nostradamus walked over and looked around, "Look at what?"

"This!"

Ethan quickly pointed at his tiny space door and said, "Here, can you see it?"

Buzz~ Buzz~

But right at that moment, because the space door had existed for too long, it flickered twice and disappeared directly.

Now Nostradamus naturally couldn't see anything anymore, "What are you trying to show me? There's nothing here. Do you want me to look at you?"

"Uh…"

When Ethan saw his space door suddenly vanish, he immediately felt awkward.

He waved the Starry Sky Wand again, preparing to cast another space spell, but Nostradamus suddenly snatched the wand away from him and said, "Alright! Alright! Stop messing around. This Starry Sky Wand really doesn't suit you. I promise if I get any good stuff later, I'll save a share for you, alright?"

"…"

Ethan looked speechlessly at the Starry Sky Wand that had somehow returned to Nostradamus's hand again.

But honestly, his sesame-seed-sized space door, the kind that needed a magnifying glass just to see, really was too embarrassing to show people.

Maybe, he should secretly work hard first, then wait until he leveled up his space magic before amazing everyone in front of them all.

"Lord, the funeral is ready."

Cook Four had been waiting downstairs for a long time. Seeing Ethan still not coming down, he could only go upstairs again to invite him.

Hearing this, Ethan nodded and said, "Alright! I'll come down now."

———

While walking downstairs, Ethan simply took out his instant-cast wand and secretly cast the Space Door skill toward the sky.

"Space Door!"

[EXP: 2/100]

"Space Door! Space Door!!"

[EXP: 4/100]

"Space Door! Space Door! Space Door!"

He trained it over and over again. At this moment, Ethan was the hardest-working guy in the universe.

The result was just a little awkward.

Because, without the boost from the Starry Sky Wand, Ethan discovered that the space doors he created weren't even as big as a sesame seed. Some were only the size of a needle hole.

'Damn it! These really are things you couldn't even see with a magnifying glass.'

'Still, this instant-cast wand really is amazing.'

Although it didn't boost space magic, its casting speed for Space Door magic was extremely fast. It was just a bit small.

The kind that was both fast and small.

If it could combine with the Starry Sky Wand, then it would become both big and strong.

Unfortunately, he still hadn't gotten the Starry Sky Wand yet.

'Seriously…'

'What wishful thinking!"

"Where did you get that wand?", The Genie Sylas had appeared beside Ethan at some point. He narrowed his eyes and stared at the wand in Ethan's hand, "This wand looks pretty good. It's no worse than that Starry Sky Wand. And when I watched you cast magic, it looked like you even skipped the chanting process. Want to trade it with me? I've got other good stuff here too, magic equipment, necklaces, high spirit recovery earrings, and so on…"

"No!"

Ethan refused without hesitation.

By the time Ethan reached the bottom floor of the dormitory building, his Space Door experience had already reached 66 points. He only needed 34 more points to level up.

It was just that this Space Door consumed an absurd amount of mental power. If his mental strength wasn't already thick enough, it probably would've been completely drained by now.

"Lord, why does your face look so pale?"

Cook Four, who had been waiting downstairs for Ethan, quickly stepped forward with concern when he saw Ethan's pale face, "You look really tired. Is it because all these things have been too mentally exhausting?"

"Of course not. You try casting a spell with every step you take down the stairs."

Ethan waved his hand to show he was fine, then walked toward the funeral.

Cook Four immediately chased after him in disappointment.

Clearly…

She had finally created a chance to be alone with the Lord, but Lord still didn't respond to her feelings.

'Why is this happening?'

Cook Four felt wronged.

"Lord!"

When everyone saw Ethan appear, they immediately bowed to him.

The funeral was still being held at the cemetery. This piece of land had originally been marked out by Ethan inside the villa grounds specifically for burying dead citizens.

Later, after the manor was upgraded, this land was still kept, and its area had even grown much larger.

At this moment, i the empty space in the middle of the cemetery, there was a wooden bed. Under the bed was a large pile of stacked wood.

And on top of the bed were countless flowers.

Part of these flowers had been planted by Attendant Five, while the rest had grown wild in the cemetery.

Back when Ethan designated this place as a cemetery, Attendant Five had planted many flowers around it. Although the heavy snow later buried many flowers, some flowers that weren't afraid of the cold still survived.

So Attendant Five split the flowers she gathered into two portions. One portion had already been placed in a full circle around the deceased. The other portion was placed in a large flower basket so everyone who came forward to pay their respects could take one flower and offer it to the deceased.

"Lord!"

Attendant Five took a flower from the basket and handed it to Ethan.

Ethan nodded to her before taking the pink flower. He didn't know what kind of flower it was. It looked a little like a carnation, but the blossom was smaller, and the color was very pretty.

He slowly walked to Nana's body and bowed to her, "I've already done what you entrusted me with."

After saying that, Ethan placed the flower beside Nana's pile of wood.

Nini beside him deeply bowed to Ethan and said, "Thank you, Lord!"

After Ethan was the first to offer a flower, everyone else also stepped forward one after another to place flowers, while Nini seriously bowed to every single person.

The funeral continued for about an hour before finally ending.

And as the Life Source pendant around Ethan's neck continuously sent Life Source into him, his mental power quickly recovered fully again.

Ethan lowered his head and looked at the emerald-green droplet-shaped pendant, immediately feeling surprised.

He didn't expect, this pendant could even speed up mental power recovery. He really picked up a treasure.

'Looks like that Genie Sylas still has quite a few good things on him,' Ethan immediately started making calculations in his heart, thinking about how to get all of Sylas's good stuff into his own hands.
