"Yellow-Cap Goblins? High defense and they can charge too?"
Looking at the long, narrow tunnel, Ethan immediately got some ideas.
While these long tunnels were indeed well-suited for charging monsters or creatures that relied on brute force, they were also easy to defend. As long as one person was strong enough, ten thousand others wouldn't get through.
Since that was the case, Ethan could use this chance to try out his newly acquired skill.
'Maybe it would have an unexpected effect here.'
"Bird One and Bird Two, go to the Guard Hall a hundred meters ahead. Make a deliberate loop around it, then throw down two compressed bombs."
Ethan instructed, "The moment you throw them, run immediately. Pull as much distance from the goblins as possible. Don't get hurt!"
"But don't get too far away. Make sure the goblins can still see you. Fire a few arrows now and then. Accuracy doesn't matter, but make sure you keep their aggro."
"Understood?"
"Understood, Lord," Bird One immediately replied, "We're luring monsters, right?"
"Smart!"
Ethan nodded.
Bird One and Bird Two immediately flew toward the hall a hundred meters away.
The tunnel was about three meters wide and over four meters high, just enough for two Birdmen to fly inside without restrictions. If the White Eagle came here, its wings would probably hit the walls before they could fully spread.
That was also the main reason Ethan hadn't brought it.
While Bird One and Bird Two were flying toward the Guard Hall, Ethan immediately jogged to the middle section of the tunnel and started setting up traps.
His goal was to take advantage of the goblins' blind spot, where those in the back couldn't see what was happening ahead. Killing one batch was still killing a batch.
"Spatial Gate!"
"Spatial Gate!"
Whoosh!
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Ethan continuously cast level-one Spatial Gates.
He even deliberately avoided using the Starry Sky Staff and switched to the Instant-Cast Wand instead.
His purpose was simple: create a huge number of tiny Spatial Gates, then wait for those Yellow-Cap Goblins who had complete confidence in their defense to run into Void Bullets themselves and die without even knowing how.
BOOM!
Just after Ethan finished setting up a hundred miniature Spatial Gates, he heard a loud explosion from deep inside the tunnel.
It was the sound of Bird One and Bird Two throwing their bombs.
"Bird Three!"
The reason Ethan had kept Bird Three behind was naturally to send messages to Bird One and Bird Two.
Bird One and Bird Two didn't know where Ethan had placed the miniature Spatial Gates.
And before Ethan started setting them up, even he didn't know exactly where they would end up.
So he could only wait until everything was nearly finished before sending Bird Three to notify them.
"Yes, Lord."
"Go find Bird One and Bird Two. Tell them that when they pass through this section, they must fly close to the ceiling, understand?", Ethan repeatedly emphasized, "I'll leave a Sun Worm at every point where they absolutely have to fly high. The moment you see a Sun Worm, you must gain altitude! Got it?"
"Yes, Lord!"
Bird Three answered and flew away.
Ethan estimated the preparations were nearly complete. He then took out the Shadow Guard and sent it through a level-two Spatial Gate to a position deeper inside the tunnel.
The purpose was obvious.
Once the Yellow-Cap Goblins realized something was wrong, he would use the Shadow Guard's ability to harvest them in large numbers.
He refused to believe that several hundred goblins inside a Guard Hall couldn't be wiped out.
"
Thump! Thump!
Rumble! Rumble!
The footsteps started with only a few, then became many, and finally sounded like war drums, creating endless echoes inside the narrow tunnel.
Perhaps because too many goblins were charging into the tunnel at once, Ethan could even feel the entire tunnel shaking.
"Here they come!"
Ethan's eyes brightened.
He immediately instructed Daji, "Stay here. After the Birdmen return, you'll be responsible for the final aggro pull and monster lure."
"Meow!"
Daji responded.
Only then did Ethan begin retreating toward the tunnel entrance.
He needed to control the overall situation, so he couldn't stay at a single point attracting monsters.
Instead, he hid in the middle section of the tunnel, where he had placed a large number of Spatial Gates, and took charge from there.
Before long, Ethan first saw rolling clouds of dust pouring into the tunnel, making people cough repeatedly.
Only then, using his exceptional eyesight, did he spot Bird Three leading Bird One and Bird Two back through the dust.
The moment Bird Three noticed the areas glowing faintly yellow within the dust, she immediately shouted, "Fly close to the ceiling! Quickly! Don't drop down no matter what! There's danger below!"
"Okay!!"
"Got it!"
The two Birdwomen answered.
The three Birdmen then flew past not far from Ethan.
But none of them noticed his presence.
After all, Ethan was not only hiding in a recess in the tunnel, but was also wearing an invisibility cloak.
Not to mention the Birdmen squad, even an Archmage might not discover him.
Rumble!
"Kill them!"
"Take down those damned Rakshasas!" [T/N: Rakshasas = Monsters]
"They dared come to goblin territory and cause trouble! I'll knock every one of them down and screw them to death!"
"Screw them to death!"
The stout Yellow-Cap Goblins were extremely excited.
Holding huge axes in their hands, they charged toward the tunnel entrance.
The more excited they were, the more excited Ethan became.
After all, if these Yellow-Cap Goblins advanced cautiously and slowly, Ethan really wouldn't have much he could do.
But the faster they charged, the harder it would be for them to stop.
And even if the goblins in front discovered the traps and wanted to stop, the goblins rushing up from behind would slam into them one after another, and then...
Pfft!
The first Yellow-Cap Goblin was hit in the neck by a bullet (Spatial Gate).
And it had run into it by itself.
But a Spatial Gate only the size of a grain of rice was incredibly difficult to notice amid all the dust and inside such a dark tunnel.
To prevent the Yellow-Cap Goblins' hats and skulls from having too much defense, Ethan had deliberately placed the Spatial Gates at neck level.
After all, the neck was one of the softest parts of the body.
And it was also difficult to protect.
Then, that Yellow-Cap Goblin clutched its neck and dropped straight to its knees.
The Yellow-Cap Goblins beside it had only just noticed their companion kneeling and hadn't even had time to ask what happened before they also ran into the grain-sized Spatial Gates.
The leading group of Yellow-Cap Goblins all died one after another.
The goblins behind them naturally realized something was wrong.
But when they tried to stop, they discovered they couldn't stop at all.
Because the goblins behind them were still surging forward and pressing into them one after another.
