Chapter 583 - Chapter 582: Clue 2

Ethan poked his head out and looked downstairs, only to see a little black-and-white dog digging through the pockets of the school uniform pants Ethan had thrown down.

Not long after, Ethan saw the little dog pull out a piece of braised pork and eat it.

After finishing the meat, the dog immediately started digging again.

It didn't stop until all the meat in the pockets had been eaten.

But shortly after finishing the meat, the little dog's steps began to stagger. After it had only gone a short distance, it suddenly let out a miserable cry, then collapsed to the ground and began convulsing.

"Fuck! It's that poisonous?"

Ethan was completely stunned.

He had thought his mom would at most give him some sleeping pills and knock him out, but the poison in this meat was a little beyond what he had imagined.

He didn't know if his little sister would be okay after being forced to drink so much soup.

The moment he thought about it… the rough way his weird mom had forced the soup down her throat at the end scared Ethan a little.

It proved that when this crazy woman went insane, there was nothing she wouldn't do.

"No! I can't just sit here and wait to die."

Ethan looked out through the room's window. He had to find a way to escape.

But he looked left and right, up and down.

His home was on the fifth floor, and the walls below were completely bare. There really wasn't anywhere to put his feet.

Ethan didn't think he could jump down from here and survive.

And he didn't dare bet on it.

Even if he survived, if he ended up disabled or something and had to let his weird mom take care of him, he might as well be dead.

"If I can't go down, why not try climbing up?"

Ethan turned his head and looked upstairs. Fortunately, their home was on the top floor, and the rooftop was only about 1.5 meters above.

He climbed out the window, then grabbed the tiny bit of roof eave above the window and pulled himself up. Ethan actually managed to stand steadily on an eave that was only five centimeters wide.

Once he stood on the eave, he could just reach the railing on the rooftop.

He pulled himself up with a single pull-up.

But the instant he got himself up, Ethan was almost scared to death by the scene in front of him.

The moment Ethan saw what was in front of him, he immediately sucked in a breath.

Because somehow, Mom had already arrived on the rooftop, and she was dragging a very heavy plastic bag in her hand. The thing inside seemed to be quite large.

Scrape! Scrape!

Mom struggled to drag the black plastic bag along, fortunately without noticing him.

Ethan hurriedly took advantage of the opportunity and hid behind the water tank, afraid that Mom would discover him.

Then, after Ethan had hidden himself, he noticed that a long trail of blood had appeared behind the plastic bag.

'Could that be…'

'Could it be Riyana?'

Ethan's heart was beating fast. For some reason, he had a very bad feeling.

It seemed that as long as he angered this woman in front of him, the consequences would be serious.

Click! Click!

After Mom dragged the black plastic bag to another large water tank, she took out a golden key.

And the instant Mom took out the key.

Ethan saw a red exclamation mark appear above it.

[Clue 2: Golden Key]

A hint for the key.

Ethan's eyes immediately lit up. This was the second time he had seen a clue.

The diary from Clue 1 had also mentioned something about a key. It seemed to say that Father also had a key. Could that key be another clue?

After Mom left, he could take a look inside the water tank. Maybe he could find a new clue.

Click! Click!

Using the golden key in her hand, Mom unlocked the large padlock on top of the water tank.

Then she climbed onto the concrete water tank, which was more than a meter high, and dragged and hauled the large black plastic bag before throwing it inside.

Thud!

The sound of something heavy splashing into the water and sending countless droplets flying rang out from inside the tank.

After doing this, Mom happily locked the large padlock again, then turned around and left the rooftop.

Ethan waited for a while, making sure Mom didn't suddenly come back.

Only then did he hurry over to the water tank where Mom had just thrown the thing and try to open the lock on top.

The lock was about the size of a child's palm.

It was an especially old-fashioned steel padlock, extremely thick and heavy. Even smashing it with a hammer wouldn't be easy.

And Ethan didn't dare do that. Otherwise, he figured that before he could even break the lock, his weird mom would already come charging up with a knife.

He couldn't smash the lock, but… Ethan noticed that the hasp holding the lock in place was the most primitive kind, the type fastened with screws.

In other words, as long as Ethan unscrewed the few screws on the hasp, he could remove the large padlock directly and open the lid of the water tank.

Ethan felt around his body, but the only thing he found was a plastic school ID card.

The ID card was just the right thickness to fit into the screws and unscrew them.

'Perfect!'

'It really is a stroke of luck!'

He started twisting.

But before he could even unscrew a single screw, Ethan heard footsteps coming from behind him again.
