Chapter 193 - Chapter 192: The Origin of Avalon

Kailar smiled and shook his head slightly, but he didn't call out to her, because he knew that although she had left, she was definitely hiding nearby, watching him.

But since Yakumo Yukari wanted to watch, he couldn't pull her out. In fact, there were really only a few people in Gensokyo who could pull out Yukari.

Kailar gently shook his head, holding C.C.'s and Evangeline's small hands, and slowly walked along the lake towards the Scarlet Devil Mansion. Even though he was blind, there was a unique elegance in his heart.

The two were very well-behaved, having been frightened into a good deal of obedience by the dangerous Gensokyo, especially Evangeline.

"Hoo~ hoo~ hoo~" The Scarlet Devil Mansion's gatekeeper, a unique red-haired Chinese girl named Hong Meiling who spoke Sichuanese, was sleeping. In fact, she spent eighty percent of her time sleeping, which was very peculiar, and Kailar was quite fond of her.

Looking at her sleeping, Kailar didn't wake her up. He just chuckled, led the two through the courtyard, and pushed the door open.

The huge mansion was only lit by curtains, making it gloomy even in broad daylight. Evangeline immediately felt a surge of affection. Clearly, a Vampire's living environment, of course, was for Vampires.

C.C., on the other hand, was startled by the environment and clutched Kailar's arm, shrinking back.

Kailar smiled and gently patted her, then continued to lead the two down the corridor and further inside.

Before long, someone came forward to greet them. It was Izayoi Sakuya, the head maid of the Scarlet Devil Mansion.

Because there weren't many people in the Scarlet Devil Mansion, despite its size, there were only three servants: the gatekeeper Hong Meiling, Koakuma who took care of Patchouli's daily needs, and the two's superior, the head maid and chief butler, Izayoi.

Izayoi looked at Kailar with surprise, then turned her gaze to Evangeline's face.

Her face was filled with doubt and uncertainty for a moment.

From her perspective, it seemed as if Kailar was bringing a Vampire to meet relatives.

This gave Izayoi a big fright.

Kailar smiled slightly, and suddenly grabbed at the air with both hands. Izayoi immediately retreated three steps like a startled rabbit. This was her secret with Kailar, something that absolutely could not be revealed to anyone, not even to the Lady. It was just by chance that Kailar had found out... at that time, she truly had murderous intentions.

But the two still developed a somewhat awkward relationship.

Seeing Kailar's gesture and the mischievous smile on his lips, Izayoi was truly overcome with shame. She made to strike him, but seeing Kailar with his eyes tightly shut, her heart ached. She simply lowered her hand with a sigh and said, "Follow me."

Then she turned her head and walked towards the inner court.

C.C. curiously looked around the inner court, but she held Kailar's hand tightly, not daring to let go. Evangeline, on the other hand, looked at Kailar with a strange gaze. She had thought he was just a man who played small tricks, but not only had he slain a dragon before, his numerous interpersonal relationships now seemed to be as good as they could get. This made her instinctively curious. Such a man... such a contradictory existence, it was truly too strange.

The contradiction, of course, referred to how he could treat his friends with such kindness, like family, yet to her, an enemy, he was shamelessly untrustworthy. Such a man... was too strange.

"What are you doing here again?" With a clear voice, the Lady of the Scarlet Devil Mansion, Remilia, who was curled up in a Western-style armchair with a lazy air, lazily waved her hand at Kailar. Her sharp fingernails carried a demonic and enchanting allure. For a twelve or thirteen-year-old girl to make such a gesture, some perverted individuals would probably have a physical reaction.

Kailar, surprised, picked up Evangeline, and despite her struggles, he held her in his arms.

"Eh~" A soft sound escaped his lips. Kailar ignored the flailing and struggling Evangeline and simply handed her to Remilia. The fate of the two Vampires was thus sealed.

Kailar, however, smiled slightly and led C.C. further down, towards the Scarlet Devil Mansion's massive underground library.

He hadn't come today for Evangeline's sake.

Although Evangeline was a Vampire, in Kailar's eyes, C.C.'s role was thousands of times more important than Evangeline's!

In the Scarlet Devil Mansion's underground library, the dim oil lamps constantly flickered with crackling sounds. In Gensokyo, which was filled with magic, even Patchouli's mere familiar, Koakuma, could easily prevent fires.

Compared to the dim oil lamps, the crystal radiating white light on the desk on the other side was clearly used as a lamp for reading.

Sitting under the lamplight, Patchouli's face appeared flawlessly pale, beautiful enough to make one stop breathing. Her fair, onion-like fingers gently turned a page, the rustling sound being the only sound in the quiet place. Her jade-like fingers traced lines across the page, appearing wise and serene. With this kind of demeanor, Patchouli wore a loose nightgown and a soft silk cap on her head, appearing incredibly focused.

As if hearing their footsteps, Patchouli looked up and adjusted her glasses. This action instantly added several percentage points to her charm. Seeing Kailar, she smiled brightly, like a budding flower.

Her good friend, Remilia, who was skilled in fate, had once warned her not to interact too much with Kailar. But clearly, Kailar's charm in literature was irresistible, and as a literary girl, Remilia quickly became immersed.

Like a young lover seeing her husband return, Patchouli's face flushed slightly as she smiled at Kailar, who returned her smile.

However, when she saw Kailar's eyes, she frowned slightly and stood up, forgetting the book on her lap. The books immediately rained down. Without caring for the books, Koakuma would naturally clean them up. Patchouli stepped into the space between the books and came to Kailar's side, touching his eyes with her hand. Multicolored light appeared in her hand. As a Seven Stars Magician, her mastery of magic was at a Master level.

Frowning slightly, Patchouli shook her head. She gently stroked Kailar's brow with her jade-like fingers and let out a soft sigh.

Kailar smiled casually, not minding, and took C.C.'s hand. He asked Patchouli, "This girl has an immortal body, given to her by someone. Let's study it and see if we can transfer this ability to a medium, at least to add a healing ability for the master." As Kailar spoke, he thought of the future King Arthur legend... the so-called Gensokyo... no way, right?
