Chapter 98: The Name "Blue Demon"
"Whitebeard, aren't you going to help him?" Sister Shao asked urgently, looking toward the edge of the ship.
"No need. Just watch. That kid still has a lot of abilities he hasn't revealed. I think we're about to see one," Whitebeard said with a confident smile.
"Is that so…" Sister Shao murmured, slowly calming down.
In the sky, Luo Han hovered silently.
The crew on board had noticed him. Seeing him just float there, clearly preparing something massive, they felt completely at ease. After all, Luo Han had already proven himself.
By now, Luo Han had fully seized control of the seawater surrounding the three approaching navy warships with his telekinesis.
Looking at Garp and the others onboard, Luo Han flashed a wicked smile.
"Garp! Farewell. I hope you remember this lesson. Don't cross paths with me at sea again. Bye-bye!"
Without giving them a chance to respond, Luo Han narrowed his eyes. Instantly, the sea around the ships was parted by force—creating a massive 1,500-meter-wide void that reached all the way down to the seabed.
Garp, Sengoku, and the rest suddenly felt the warships tilt forward as a feeling of weightlessness struck. The ships plunged downward, their bows dipping as sailors screamed—some thrown overboard, others clinging desperately to whatever they could grab. Chaos broke out.
Only Garp, Sengoku, Zephyr, and a dozen Vice Admirals who could use Moonwalk managed to avoid being dragged down.
"You think it ends there?" Luo Han smirked, raising his right hand.
The seawater surrounding the massive void surged upward, rising 3,000 meters high to form a colossal water prison, trapping Garp and the others inside.
As he watched the despair in their eyes, Luo Han grinned and clenched his fist. The towering wall of water collapsed inward while the massive void rapidly refilled.
BOOM! A thunderous roar echoed—like the heavens had inverted—followed by massive waves a hundred meters high. Eventually, the sea calmed once more.
But Whitebeard and the others couldn't calm down. The sight of what had just happened burned into their minds.
"From this day forward, this man will be the most terrifying force on the sea."
That thought began to take root in everyone's hearts—and would eventually become a universally accepted truth.
Tap tap. Luo Han landed back on the ship. Seeing Whitebeard and Sister Shao's stunned faces, he grinned.
"Let's get out of here. That won't hold Garp for long."
"R-Right…" Whitebeard muttered, still dazed.
"Such a terrifying ability… For any Devil Fruit user, he's the last person you'd want to meet at sea," Sister Shao added.
Luo Han chuckled but said nothing. He used telekinesis to steer both pirate ships away from the area—partly sobered up now, he knew Garp would be out for blood, and it was best to leave fast.
…
An hour later, at the spot where the navy ships had vanished, under the faint moonlight, fragments of wreckage floated on the sea. A few surviving sailors clung to broken beams, their eyes hollow. Corpses drifted nearby.
Splash! Splash! Garp and Zephyr emerged from the sea, hauling wounded comrades.
Garp carried Sengoku while gripping a few unconscious Vice Admirals. Zephyr had three Devil Fruit users slung over his shoulders.
Thud! Thud! They placed the wounded onto a large piece of debris and looked around at the devastation, unable to accept what had happened.
Of the 400+ marines across three ships, barely 50 had survived. Over 100 were confirmed dead; the rest were missing, scattered by the waves.
Gurgle! Sengoku suddenly coughed up seawater and woke up.
Huff… Huff… He gasped for breath, then stood, surveying the wreckage and meeting Garp and Zephyr's somber gazes.
Crack! Sengoku clenched his fists, veins bulging as he stared toward where Luo Han had disappeared.
"Unforgivable… I swear I'll kill that brat!" he roared.
"Hey, Sengoku. The Den Den Mushi—still got it?" Garp asked quietly.
"Yes." Sengoku checked and pulled it out. "I'll contact HQ and have them send three more warships."
"Good. Zephyr and I will search nearby waters for other survivors. We need to regroup before they drift any farther."
"Let's move," Zephyr said, already sensing a few faint life signs in the distance with his Observation Haki.
"I'll check that side," he added, launching away with Moonwalk. Garp took off in the opposite direction.
…
The next day, news of the battle between Whitebeard, Luo Han, and the Roger Pirates spread like wildfire.
The name "Blue Demon" began etching itself into the minds of the world.
People called him:
"A demon from hell draped in blue armor, summoning the flames of the underworld—wherever he goes becomes a land of purgatory."
The new bounty poster only added fuel to the legend.
The photo showed Luo Han in the sky, unleashing his red meteor barrage of telekinetic stone serpents. His blue armor glowed above an island covered in magma pits and black smoke.
Beneath the image, a new bounty was printed:
"Blue Demon – Vinson Luo Han, Bounty: 800,000,000 Berries."
A bounty that made bounty hunters around the world drool.
That night, countless bounty hunters dreamed of slaying Luo Han and claiming that astronomical reward.
…
Meanwhile, Luo Han became a topic of the morning meeting among the Five Elders.
"What do you all think?" asked the blade-bearing elder, placing the intel on the table. "This was reported last night by CP-whatever."
"This kind of structured ability development… doesn't seem like the Infinite Fruit," the blond elder said.
"I agree."
"Still, it's an unknown Devil Fruit ability. Just have our agents keep monitoring it—no need to escalate this."
"Agreed. For now, let's focus on finding that island."
Luo Han's case was quickly filed and downgraded—not a top priority anymore.
…
Back on Whitebeard's ship, Luo Han awoke to the smell of meat. He squinted under the glare of the sun.
A few seagulls flew by as he inhaled the salty air, stretching and gazing out at the sea.
Whitebeard was nowhere in sight. "Probably up early somewhere, drinking again," Luo Han guessed.
Clatter! The head chef rolled a food cart onto the deck, placing several dishes down.
"Lord Blue Demon, your breakfast."
He bowed slightly and began to walk away.
"What did you call me?" Luo Han asked, frowning in confusion.
"Lord Blue Demon?" the chef replied nervously, lowering his head, afraid he had offended him.
"…It's fine. Go on," Luo Han said, waving him off.
"Yes, sir." Sensing Luo Han's discomfort, the chef avoided the title again and used a neutral honorific before leaving.
Luo Han sat in silence, processing the change. "Have I really become someone people fear…?"
He sighed. "Whatever. Food first."
He picked up a giant chunk of meat and bit into it fiercely, instantly feeling better. Then he tore into his meal with newfound hunger.
