Chapter 209: The Treasure Tree Adam
Ignoring the ongoing group activity in the bed, Luo Han used telekinesis to lift the Eternal Log Pose labeled "Adam Island" from the desk and floated it out through the automatically opened window.
The activity in the bed continued, unnoticed by any of the participants, who remained thoroughly absorbed.
Tap! The Eternal Log Pose landed in Luo Han's hand.
"This should be it," he said, handing it to Tom.
"Ah… yes," Tom confirmed after a moment, pointing at the base. "It's marked 'Adam' here. Should be correct."
"Then we'll head to Adam Island to get the Treasure Tree Adam wood. Once we're back, we'll be counting on you, Tom."
"No problem! Leave it to the great and mighty me! I'll definitely build a ship that satisfies you!" Tom patted his chest with confidence.
Luo Han chuckled and said no more. The four of them took to the skies, flying toward Adam Island in the direction indicated by the pointer.
…
Adam Island.
Famous worldwide for housing the Treasure Tree Adam, the cities and nations on the island had all developed around this majestic tree.
Generations rose and fell, but Adam stood unshaken.
It was huge. Incomprehensibly huge.
That was Luo Han's first impression upon arrival.
The four of them hovered 3,000 meters above ground in roaring wind. Looking back, they realized they weren't even halfway up the tree's height.
Above were thick branches and leaves that blotted out the sun; below, sprawling cities looked like tiny specks.
"You guys go ahead," Ellis said with a serious expression. "I've got something to do here."
"Alright, we'll go up," Luo Han responded, taking Sora and Akatsuki upward.
As the three rose, natural energy swirled around Ellis as she began communicating with the Treasure Tree Adam. She had questions to ask.
"So that's why Ellis wanted to come here," Luo Han thought. He had suspected this back in Water 7. If Adam was like the Sun Tree Eve, then it must also have intelligence.
He was curious—what kind of relationship did Ellis have with Eve and Adam? What roles did those trees play in this world?
"Maybe I'll eavesdrop a little," Luo Han smirked inwardly.
"Let's stop here," Sora suggested.
They had reached a branch. From below, it had looked average-sized, but up close, each branch had a diameter of hundreds, even thousands of meters.
Of course, some were smaller, between ten and a hundred meters across.
"This is so high up. How do people collect branches from the Treasure Tree Adam?" Luo Han asked, now realizing they were at least 10,000 meters above the ground.
How did merchants manage this?
"You don't know?" Sora said playfully.
"Know what?" Luo Han asked, raising an eyebrow.
Sora smiled. "Adam's branches fall off naturally from time to time. Everyone collects the fallen ones below."
"That's how most of the Adam wood is obtained. Its natural toughness makes it nearly impossible to chop branches in a short time."
"Plus, the wind up here is fierce. You could fall easily. So people just wait at the base for the branches to drop."
Luo Han gave her a weird look. Was she waiting for him to ask? This felt deliberate.
He ignored her and focused instead on Ellis and the tree. He could sense her spiritual energy fluctuating.
Huh… what does that mean? Luo Han frowned. He couldn't enter their telepathic communication space. It was like there was a tough membrane blocking him.
Was it Adam itself? Could its toughness translate into mental defenses too?
"Luo Han, are you alright?" Sora asked, noticing the changes in his expression.
"I'm fine."
He waved it off. "Let's pick a branch to bring back."
But after surveying for a while, Luo Han realized he had a new problem—he didn't know what size to choose.
"Ugh… I forgot to ask Tom how big he needed it."
He frowned. In hindsight, they had rushed over too quickly.
"Something between 50 and 100 meters in diameter should be fine. Not every part of the ship needs to be made of Adam wood," Sora suggested.
"Alright, we'll go with 100 meters. If there's leftover, we'll gift it to Tom."
Luo Han nodded, then prepared to "amputate" a branch using telekinesis.
"Wait! Luo Han."
Ellis 's voice echoed in his mind.
"What's wrong?" Luo Han asked telepathically.
A wave of spiritual energy followed. "Adam says… he'll do it himself. Don't cut anything."
Uh… Luo Han twitched at the thought. "Do it himself"? What a madlad, this Adam.
"Fine. Let him." Then he asked, "He knows what size we need, right?"
"He does."
With that, Ellis returned to her exclusive mental space—still inaccessible to Luo Han.
Luo Han pouted. "Adam better be female," he grumbled to himself. "Otherwise, hiding in a private mental space with Ellis is just perverted."
"Luo Han, are you sure you're alright?" Sora asked again, her eyes narrowing. Something was definitely off today—he kept spacing out.
"I'm fine." He smiled, not bothering to explain.
Thunk!
At that moment, a branch fell from above—right toward Akatsuki .
"Luo Han!" she cried.
Before it could hit her, Luo Han caught it mid-air with telekinesis.
"You should speak up more often," he teased. "If you hadn't called me just now, I might've forgotten you were even here."
"..."
Akatsuki stared blankly. Her large, expressive eyes locked on him. You were controlling me this whole time—how could you 'forget'?
Clearly, he was messing with her.
"Haha!"
Luo Han laughed. Akatsuki 's face was stiff as ever, but her eyes said it all. At least she has eyes to show emotion. Otherwise, she'd look like a zombie, Luo Han thought.
"That bastard! Flirting with a fish!" Sora fumed silently.
Is my figure not good enough? My looks? And that giant fuzzball? Her fur probably feels like steel wool! Doesn't he worry about getting stabbed?
"Finally showing other emotions… not bad," Luo Han noted. "All according to plan."
His Observation Haki sensed shifts in Sora's emotional state. It was a little forced, but still better than her usual blank calm.
Until now, Sora had always been composed—never happy or sad.
Just then, Ellis 's voice returned in Luo Han's mind.
"All done. Let's head back."
Luo Han was surprised. That was fast. She'd spent far longer talking to the Sun Tree Eve before.
"Alright."
He responded telepathically, then turned to the others. "Let's go back."
The three of them descended to where Ellis was waiting.
"Let's go," she said, not sounding particularly happy. Without waiting, she flew toward Water 7.
Luo Han was puzzled but didn't ask. He simply followed.
Behind them, the massive Adam branch floated in tow.
…
One day later—
The four of them returned to Water 7.
Thud! Luo Han dropped the branch into Tom's shipyard warehouse.
"Wow, it's huge!"
Tom's eyes lit up as he ran his hands over the wood. He had never seen a piece of Adam so thick and flawless.
Luo Han grinned. "Good enough for you?"
"It's perfect! The texture and hardness are top-tier. Judging by the color, it's a branch tempered by high winds for over a century!"
Tom turned to Luo Han with determination. "With this, I swear to build you the best ship in the world!"
"Haha! That's the spirit." Luo Han laughed. "We'll head off for now. I'll pay you when I return."
"No, that's not nec—"
Before Tom could refuse payment, Luo Han had already exited the warehouse.
Outside, Ellis was waiting.
"The ship's going to take time," she said. "Where to next?"
She had a feeling Luo Han had a plan—and knowledge of some mysterious islands.
"Sky Island," Luo Han replied.
"Sky Island?"
As expected, Ellis looked at him curiously. This guy sometimes acted like he knew everything.
"You know where one is?"
"I've heard of one above Jaya. We'll find it when we get there. After all, we can fly."
Luo Han gave her a look. "Why are you asking so many questions today?"
"Can't I be curious?"
"You can," he said.
Ellis pressed further. "How are we getting to Jaya? Do you have a Log Pose?"
"Haha!"
Luo Han laughed and summoned an Eternal Log Pose, which flew into his hand.
"Your power is way too convenient," Ellis muttered. Clearly, he had swiped it from another merchant in Water 7.
"Let's go."
Luo Han signaled, then took Sora and Akatsuki , who had been waiting, and soared into the sky once more.
Barely back in Water 7, they were already heading for the next destination.
…
Thanks to the Eternal Log Pose, they reached Jaya in just two days.
"Ugh, I'm starving. Let's eat, now!"
The moment they landed, Ellis grabbed Luo Han and marched off to find food. Akatsuki and Sora followed. Well, Akatsuki was still being moved by Luo Han's telekinesis—she didn't have legs yet.
"What's the rush? Two days without food and you're falling apart," Ellis grumbled.
It wasn't physical exhaustion—her real fatigue came from the constant mental effort of maintaining flight.
"I'm not rushing. I just want to return to the New World quickly," Luo Han replied.
His two main goals for coming to the first half of the Grand Line were building a ship—and beating Enel to the Rumble-Rumble Fruit on Sky Island. It was one of the fruits he desperately wanted.
Once those were done, he'd head back to the New World and search for the Lantern Fish.
The CP0 agent had shaved 40–50 years off his lifespan. If he didn't find Pure Gold soon, he'd visibly age within a decade.
He couldn't afford to wait any longer.
