Chapter 213: Perfected Kyoka suigetsu
"Still not quite there…"
Luo Han withdrew his spiritual sense from the young noble who was passionately embracing a street pole and frowned.
Over the past ten-plus days, he had conducted many experiments—but something was still missing.
He could already make others perceive something as a beautiful woman of their own imagination, yet the critical issue remained: subconscious behavior.
Even under the influence of Kyoka suigetsu , people would still act unnaturally—bumping into things or snapping out of the illusion due to a sudden mental shift.
Just like what happened with that young master moments ago.
Looks like I still need to focus on the core essence of psychic abilities, Luo Han concluded.
Until now, he had been developing other abilities through his psychic powers—like telekinesis—while neglecting their core.
He reflected, "So far, my Psychic-Psychic Fruit has revealed several fundamental abilities:"
Psychic Guidance, and Limitless Physical Evolution.
He looked at his own height and smiled in relief. "Being able to sense emotional and unique auras and guiding my own psychic flow allowed me to break free from the curse of being short. Now I stand at three meters tall, the average height of powerhouses in the One Piece world."
Next was the "Aura Implantation" he'd unlocked after his breakthrough at God Valley.
Thinking of this, Luo Han's expression darkened. On Fishman Island, the Otohime-like "Kotoamatsukami" ability was incredibly similar to his aura implantation.
Sharing emotions... that effect was essentially the same as when Luo Han implanted aura into Tak and others—gradually altering their physical strength until it aligned with the aura's symbolic potential.
Will Seeds worked the same way, except they affected the mind. Once implanted into someone's spiritual world, they would gradually influence and reshape that person's thoughts—eventually transforming them into unwitting puppets.
The difference? One targets the body, the other the mind.
"But… how did the previous Ancient Weapon, Poseidon—the mermaid princess—pass this ability down to Otohime?"
Luo Han was now certain the mermaid princess from 800 years ago was a Psychic Fruit user.
Otohime merely had special Observation Haki. She definitely didn't possess a "Kotoamatsukami" ability, nor the power to silently enter others' spiritual worlds.
"That too must be a psychic ability. At its core, it's psychic synchronization—or resonance."
Luo Han had figured out the principle behind that unique frequency.
By resonating one's psychic wavelength with someone else's, a mysterious state occurs—allowing bypass of mental defenses and access to the inner mind.
His eyes lit up. The challenge lies in achieving synchronized psychic frequency with others.
If Otohime could sense malice via Observation Haki, just like Luo Han could sense emotions, then malice was also a form of psychic signal.
If it could be sensed, then psychic abilities could adjust one's own frequency to match and synchronize with it—allowing entry into another's mental world.
But… Otohime wasn't a psychic ability user. So how did she do it?
Thinking deeper, Luo Han smirked. "And combined with the Will Seeds found in the Ryugu family's mental worlds, there's no doubt—Poseidon was a Psychic Fruit user."
"And not just any user—a fully awakened one. Otherwise, she couldn't have implanted Will Seeds into every Sea King in the world. Only with awakening could that be possible."
"Maybe even awakening isn't enough—you'd need to push psychic abilities to an entirely new level."
Luo Han guessed quietly, while growing more wary of this ancient mermaid princess.
"With such powers, she must've survived in some way."
His gaze sharpened. He had a feeling she would reappear in this era.
And when she did—would they be enemies or allies?
He sighed.
"For now, I need to focus on strengthening myself. Power is the only thing that brings peace of mind."
Resolving himself, he once again immersed himself in researching psychic abilities.
…
Another stretch of time passed.
It was midday, the sun blazed overhead.
Luo Han walked along the streets of Jaya Island, with Akatsuki floating ten centimeters off the ground beside him.
"Will it work this time?" Akatsuki asked.
They had entered a busy street where people walked in tightly packed crowds—sometimes only half a meter apart. Akatsuki 's massive body would definitely be in the way.
"Relax. It'll work this time," Luo Han smiled confidently. After all the time spent researching and refining, he was sure.
As they moved forward—
None of the passersby reacted oddly. To them, Luo Han and Akatsuki looked like two average people, both around two meters tall. There was no reason to step aside.
Clearly, they were all under the effect of Kyoka suigetsu .
Then, when the first wave of pedestrians passed near Akatsuki 's body—miraculously, they all instinctively walked around her.
"Yes!"
"That's the subconscious reflex I needed!"
Luo Han clenched his fists in excitement and turned to Akatsuki . "It worked!"
"Mhm." Akatsuki was pleased too. Though her stiff face couldn't smile, her sparkling eyes gave it away.
She had helped Luo Han with countless tests over the days—often being bumped into. Now that it was successful, she finally felt free.
"Haha! Let's go!"
Luo Han laughed as they walked on. He knew what Akatsuki was thinking, but she was the ideal test subject—her size made her perfect for trials.
"Mhm," Akatsuki nodded, following closely.
As they walked down the bustling street, everyone instinctively avoided Akatsuki —without realizing it.
One burly man walked past and thought he was moving beside a normal-sized woman. He even caught a whiff of her perfume.
In reality, he had walked in a half-circle around her.
Another young man came from the opposite direction. The two passed each other naturally, never bumping into Akatsuki .
Soon, they had walked through the busiest avenue on the island, and the results were all the same—everyone automatically moved around Akatsuki , and no one noticed anything strange.
Even those far away, watching others weave around her, didn't question it. To them, everything looked normal.
Perfect. Even at a distance, Kyoka suigetsu remained flawless.
"Haha! It's done!"
Luo Han beamed as they reached the intersection. His ability was finally perfected.
"Let's go eat!" he announced.
Since the job was done—it was mealtime.
"Mhm," Akatsuki answered simply.
…
On the way—
Luo Han was still excited about his success.
"This proves there's still so much potential in psychic abilities," he thought.
Refining Kyoka suigetsu had opened a whole new door.
He realized that recorded auras didn't have to be limited to talent or emotional states. They could also capture memories, thoughts, and ideas.
Combined with implanted auras and psychic resonance, these thoughts could be embedded into others' minds—subtly influencing their behavior.
For this case, Luo Han had recorded Akatsuki 's massive body as a cognitive concept and implanted it into people's mental worlds. So even if they saw a two-meter woman, their brains subconsciously perceived her as huge—and automatically stepped aside.
Just like how the captains in Bleach instinctively avoided Aizen's blade.
Furthermore…
"These two abilities—'recorded aura' and 'implanted aura'—can generate countless sub-abilities if I keep pushing my imagination!"
Luo Han was glad he chose to fully develop Kyoka suigetsu . Otherwise, he would've missed out on so many applications of his power.
For example: he could record the idea "I'm attracted to this man's appearance and physique" and implant it into a woman who had never seen him before.
Then, upon meeting Luo Han, she would feel an instinctive attraction.
Over time, this subconscious reaction would become genuine love.
"Of course, this kind of psychic hypnosis isn't permanent. Eventually, the implanted idea fades."
Even so, it was an incredibly potent ability.
Luo Han really liked it.
Hehehe… Luo Han chuckled weirdly.
"What's wrong with you?" Akatsuki glanced over.
He's been making weird faces this whole walk. What's he thinking about?
"Ah! It's nothing," Luo Han cut off his laugh, realizing he was getting carried away.
Akatsuki didn't press. He said nothing more.
The two walked in silence until they arrived at a luxurious mansion on the east side of Jaya—secluded and quiet.
Luo Han sensed that Sora and Ellis were already inside, preparing a meal.
As they entered, they passed under a plaque bearing the name "Kaist."
Just as they stepped through the door, Ellis reached out a hand toward Luo Han.
