Chapter 102: Yu Xiaogang Wants to Poach a Student
The battle was over.
Luo Ling and Dugu Yan stepped down from the stage together, while Yu Tianheng was carried off by other members of the Emperor Team.
"Yan Yan, do you know this friend?" A blue-haired girl walked up to them as soon as they exited the arena.
Dugu Yan smiled slightly and introduced, "Lingling, let me introduce you. This is my friend, his name is Luo Ling."
Luo Ling nodded politely to the blue-haired girl.
"Ye Lingling," the girl replied, also nodding slightly as she introduced herself.
The two didn't speak much more—after all, they had just met.
Not far away, two strong soul masters carried over the unconscious Yu Tianheng.
"Lingling, please heal our vice-captain," one of them said.
Ye Lingling didn't hesitate and summoned her martial soul—a beautiful blossom that radiated a gentle aura.
The Nine Heart Begonia.
The most powerful healing-type martial soul.
Luo Ling recognized it immediately.
Soft light enveloped Yu Tianheng, gradually healing his wounds. His breathing steadied, and he slowly regained consciousness.
As he opened his eyes, Yu Tianheng noticed everyone staring at him and immediately felt awkward—especially since someone was still holding him.
He quickly broke free and stood up on his own.
Just then, a middle-aged man approached.
Yu Tianheng looked up, feeling disappointed. "I'm sorry, Teacher Qin, I lost."
The man didn't respond right away, his gaze instead shifting toward Luo Ling.
"Hello, my name is Qin Ming. Are you and this soul master from the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan both from Shrek Academy?" he asked suddenly.
"No, I'm not a Shrek student. I'm just an escort," Luo Ling replied casually, glancing at Ning Rongrong beside him.
Qin Ming froze for a moment, and even Dugu Yan turned her head in surprise.
Just then, the other members of Shrek Academy approached.
Flender and Zhao Wuji led the group. When they saw Qin Ming, their eyes lit up.
"Qin Ming, is that you, kid?" Flender exclaimed gleefully.
Qin Ming smiled. "Dean Flender, Vice-Dean Zhao Wuji, it's been a long time."
"What are you doing here?" Zhao Wuji asked, patting Qin Ming on the shoulder.
"I heard that a Warlock appeared in Soto City, so I brought my students to learn something," Qin Ming replied respectfully.
"You're still as stiff as ever," Flender said, adjusting his glasses. "It's been a while since we've seen each other. Let's find somewhere to sit down and catch up. Are these your students? Bring them along."
Qin Ming nodded after a moment's hesitation. The Emperor Team followed with puzzled looks.
…
In a private dining room, members of the Emperor Team and Shrek Academy sat together.
They introduced themselves, and the Shrek group learned that Qin Ming was now the instructor of the Emperor Team.
Luo Ling sat between Ning Rongrong and Dugu Yan, and the atmosphere between the two girls was clearly tense.
"Long time no see, Yan Yan. You've gotten stronger."
"You're not bad either, Rongrong."
Their unusual tone drew curious glances from everyone around.
"Yan Yan, you know this beautiful lady?" Yu Tianheng asked in surprise.
"She's the little princess of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan. We met before. And I told you not to call me Yan Yan," Dugu Yan replied with mild irritation, glaring at Yu Tianheng.
Yu Tianheng ignored her attitude and looked at Luo Ling instead. "Then is he also from the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan?"
"I'm Rongrong's cousin," Luo Ling said calmly before Dugu Yan could respond, giving her a quick meaningful glance.
Dugu Yan blinked for a moment but quickly composed herself.
She wasn't stupid—Luo Ling had warned her on the arena stage not to reveal his true identity. That "cousin" title was obviously fake.
Qin Ming, who had been quietly observing, took everything in.
He had seen Luo Ling's staggering strength earlier, clearly strong enough to meet Shrek's monster-level standards. That was why he had asked about his affiliation.
"Dean Flender, what's the story with Luo Ling?" Qin Ming asked in confusion. "With that level of power, why didn't you recruit him?"
Flender froze briefly, then gave a wry smile as his gaze landed on Luo Ling in the distance.
"His strength is indeed impressive—probably the greatest among our current students. But he's from the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan. People like that look down on a small academy like mine."
"But that girl is also from the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan. Why would she join Shrek Academy?" Qin Ming asked, pointing at Ning Rongrong.
"Rongrong ran away from home. Attending Shrek is part of her personal training. Luo Ling was assigned by Clan Leader Ning to protect her," Flender explained with a helpless shake of his head.
Qin Ming nodded thoughtfully and didn't press further. Matters involving a great sect like the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan were beyond his authority.
After several rounds of drinks, everyone became pleasantly drunk.
Yu Xiaogang suddenly stood, walking over to Yu Tianheng. "Let's talk privately."
Under the puzzled gazes of the others, the two left the room.
Tang San looked surprised.
Noticing his confusion, Flender chuckled. "Don't be surprised. Xiaogang is Yu Tianheng's uncle—they're both from the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan."
Everyone looked shocked, including Qin Ming. It was the first time any of them had heard of the Master's family ties.
"Tianheng, do you still remember me?" Yu Xiaogang stopped walking, his expression complicated as he looked at his nephew.
"Of course, Uncle. It's been a long time," Yu Tianheng nodded.
He had wanted to talk during dinner but Yu Xiaogang had ignored him the whole time.
He knew Yu Xiaogang had been expelled from the family, so he dared not speak rashly.
They came to a quiet spot, and Yu Xiaogang's tone softened slightly. "Looks like you've done well over the years. Level thirty-nine already."
"You've been at Heaven Dou Academy all this time?"
"Yes, Uncle."
"The clan head must have sent you, right? Your target is probably Dugu Bo's granddaughter, Dugu Yan."
A sneer appeared on Yu Xiaogang's face. He knew the ways of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan all too well.
They never acted without benefit. Otherwise, Yu Tianheng wouldn't have joined Heaven Dou Academy.
"Uncle, you know about that?" Yu Tianheng looked up in surprise.
"Anyone with eyes can see it," Yu Xiaogang scoffed, then added teasingly, "Though that Dugu girl doesn't seem that interested in you."
Hearing that, Yu Tianheng scratched his head awkwardly.
It was true—Dugu Yan had never shown any fondness for him.
"If it doesn't work out, you could transfer to another academy. I doubt the clan head would blame you," Yu Xiaogang said casually.
That was his real motive. With Dai Mubai gone, the Shrek Seven Devils were incomplete, and he needed new talent.
Luo Ling was unapproachable, so Yu Tianheng could be a suitable candidate instead.
