Chapter 153: The Ghostly Yu Xiaogang, Part Two
Both sides unleashed their martial spirits—the battle was about to erupt!
Fiery scales of a dragon began covering Huo Wushuang's body. His spirit was the Firestorm Dragon, a dragon-type spirit like Yu Tianheng's, though not as powerful as the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon, it was still formidable.
Behind Huo Wu, a blazing fiery silhouette appeared, exuding tremendous heat.
Huo Wushuang charged first, heading straight for Dugu Yan.
Dugu Yan was not a pure control-type spirit master. Her constrictions and poison were equally terrifying. Of all the opponents present, only Huo Wushuang could restrain her to some extent—no one else could limit her.
As for Shi Mo, he was purely a defensive-type spirit master with little offensive power, best ignored in battle strategy.
Before the fight began, Blazing Academy had already formulated a plan—originally it was to focus on eliminating Luo Ling, but now that plan was redirected toward Dugu Yan.
Facing Huo Wushuang's rush, Dugu Yan activated her first spirit skill, Jade Scale Crimson Venom.
This toxin could damage a person's body while stimulating their nerves, enhancing attack speed and perception at the cost of physical strain.
Instead of targeting the Blazing Battle Team, Dugu Yan released the toxin toward her own teammates from Heaven Dou Royal Academy.
Though harmful, it also served as an effective stimulant.
Empowered by the Frenzied Venom, Shi Mo became visibly excited. Moving to the front, he blocked Huo Wushuang with his massive defensive strength.
Flames and fireballs raged around, but they were meaningless before Shi Mo's Xuanwu Turtle spirit.
Defensive spirit masters might be slow, but their defense was solid and unyielding.
Under the venom's stimulation, the rest of the Heaven Dou squad surged forward, their target being Huo Wu.
Just as they neared, a brilliant fire ring burst forth, exploding outward and sending all of them flying.
The remaining Blazing Academy members seized the opportunity and pressed the attack.
The battle grew fierce and chaotic.
Dugu Yan rushed into the scattered formation of Blazing Academy, her poison forcing their members to retreat again and again.
Meanwhile, Heaven Dou's other members became complacent. Taking advantage, Huo Wushuang—finally free from Shi Mo's restraint—joined Huo Wu, and together they swept several Heaven Dou members off the stage.
Seeing this, Dugu Yan immediately unleashed her fourth spirit skill.
The Blazing Academy members, already poisoned, turned pale as the toxin erupted within them. Moments later, they collapsed.
Her fourth spirit skill—Putrefying Explosion!
By detonating the toxin inside their bodies, it caused massive damage and rapid contagion.
Those Blazing Academy fighters had lost all combat ability.
Only four remained on the field—Dugu Yan, Shi Mo, Huo Wu, and Huo Wushuang.
The siblings exchanged glances, preparing to unleash their ultimate technique.
Huo Wu's fifth spirit skill—Blazing Sun Dance.
This soul skill could absorb spirit power from teammates to bolster its power, and even fuse spirit rings to magnify its destructive strength.
However, the other five teammates were already incapacitated, leaving only the two of them.
Huo Wu instantly activated her fourth soul skill—this was her last remaining strength.
Huo Wushuang poured his entire spirit power into her. Before the stunned eyes of the crowd, Huo Wu's four spirit rings began merging into one.
Unlike Luo Ling's fusion ring, her fusion was within a single spirit—enhancing the technique's power but adding no new effect.
Dugu Yan locked her gaze on the radiant fire gathering in Huo Wu's hands. From that dazzling light, she sensed immense danger.
The scorching sphere carried power at the very limit of a fifth-level fire-type attack skill—enough to make even a Spirit Emperor tread cautiously.
At that moment, Dugu Yan finally understood Luo Ling's earlier warning. The Blazing Academy truly lived up to its reputation. She had never seen such a fusion technique before.
"Blazing Sun Dance!" Huo Wu's crisp shout echoed as she unleashed the terrifying fireball.
Just as she was about to throw it, a deafening explosion erupted from nearby.
The thunderous sound silenced the roaring audience for a brief moment.
Startled, Huo Wu instinctively faltered, and the energy within the fireball burst uncontrollably.
She quickly tried to stabilize it, but a considerable amount of power had already dispersed.
The attack's might dropped sharply, and her face turned pale.
Sensing the change, Dugu Yan smiled faintly and exhaled a thick wave of deadly poison toward her opponent.
Huo Wu had no choice but to hurl the unstable fireball forward.
The collision of poison and flame flared brilliantly. Even though Blazing Sun Dance had weakened greatly, it still incinerated the poisonous mist—but could no longer threaten Dugu Yan.
The outcome was sealed.
…
Elsewhere, Luo Ling, still controlling Yu Xiaogang's body, hurled the iron sphere outside the prison.
An earth-shattering explosion followed. Surrounding houses had their windows blown apart, shards scattering everywhere.
Still in his invisible state, Luo Ling paused, surprised at the sheer noise.
Though the blast itself wasn't powerful, the sound was far louder than expected. Even the ground trembled beneath him.
At that moment, Flender and Zhao Wuji dashed out of the prison. Seeing the thick smoke, they hurriedly met up with Yu Xiaogang.
"Xiaogang!" Flender called, just as he was about to ask something—only for Luo Ling, still controlling Yu Xiaogang, to interrupt.
"Don't talk! I saw guards coming from the right! Move quickly!" "Yu Xiaogang" said in a panicked tone.
Flender and Zhao Wuji exchanged startled glances, then Flender immediately grabbed Yu Xiaogang and bolted to the left.
The explosion had already drawn nearby residents out of their homes. Seeing the smoke rise from the prison, panic spread—many feared that prisoners had escaped.
Hidden in the shadows, Porcupinefish Douluo, who had been monitoring the area, tensed as he prepared to investigate—until a hand tapped his shoulder.
"Who's there?!" he exclaimed, leaping back and turning around.
Standing calmly before him, Luo Ling smiled faintly.
"Your Highness, the Holy Son?" Porcupinefish Douluo's eyes widened in shock.
He could hardly believe it—Luo Ling, a mere Soul King, had appeared beside him completely undetected.
"Yu Xiaogang has taken the prisoners away. Elder Porcupine, you may report this to Qian Renxue now," Luo Ling said with a calm smile.
Porcupinefish Douluo was silent for a few seconds, then nodded slowly.
…
Meanwhile, Flender and Zhao Wuji, still carrying Yu Xiaogang, had already escaped far from the prison.
As they hurried down a deserted street, the body in Flender's arms suddenly convulsed.
"G–gh–ghost!" Yu Xiaogang screamed hoarsely.
Startled, Flender stopped in his tracks and set him down. Yu Xiaogang's face was pale as death, his whole body trembling in terror.
"Xiaogang? What's wrong?" Flender asked anxiously, staring at his friend. Something about Yu Xiaogang's current state was utterly abnormal.
