Chapter 106 - Chapter 106: Shifting Offense and Defense

Chapter 106: Shifting Offense and Defense

Yan instantly unleashed his strongest technique—the fourth soul skill.

He showed no sign of underestimating his opponent and gave Dugu Feng no time to react.

The air on the arena thickened as heat and pressure swirled violently, dark red smoke blending into turbulent currents that soon enveloped the entire dueling stage.

"Lava Hell—being able to witness my fourth skill is an honor for you!"

Yan's voice carried a cruel edge as he grinned.

The hard stone floor began bubbling like molten magma, fiery bubbles bursting one after another.

To the audience's eyes, Dugu Feng seemed submerged in molten lava itself.

This was Yan's fourth skill—Lava Hell.

The ground rolled with magma bubbles, and even the air itself warped with heat.

There was no escape from the inferno wherever one stood.

Yet Dugu Feng's face remained calm.

Even as fire and molten rock surged around him, the terrifying heat seemed to vanish upon touching his body—like snow melting the moment it met flame.

Upon closer look, the purple mist on his hands had already covered his entire body, transforming into a faint violet glow.

Where that glow touched searing heat, the fiery particles dissolved into soft violet dust and disappeared into the air.

The blazing magma descending toward him suffered the same fate—swallowed by the purple haze and turned to vapor.

Around Dugu Feng, the world fell into a strange purple stillness—deathly quiet and deadly toxic.

Poison, for him, was not just a weapon—it was also a shield.

Fire may be poison's natural counter, but when poison grows potent enough, it can devour flame itself.

And Dugu Feng wielded not mere poison, but a chaotic blend—his violet toxins consumed both air and magma as if both would perish together.

Of course, his confidence came from the three spirit bones within his body:

The Scorpion Claw on his shoulder, the Eight Spider Lances on his back, and the Blue Silver Emperor right leg bone.

Their combined defense was far beyond that of an ordinary soul master.

On top of that, he wore a unique treasure—the Eight Treasure Glazed Soft Armor.

Crafted by master craftsman Lou Gao, it could defend against attacks below the sixth spirit ring level.

He had won it from Ning Rongrong long ago and had worn it ever since.

With such layers of protection, plus his formidable physique, Dugu Feng thought coldly—Yan, your calculations are wrong.

He continued to walk forward, step by steady step, eyes locked coldly on Yan.

He had not unleashed a single offensive skill, yet his composure while walking through boiling magma without so much as a flinch testified loudly to his strength.

It was as though a phoenix walked through fire, awaiting rebirth.

"Dugu Feng! Dugu Feng!"

"Dugu Feng!"

The crowd erupted in a frenzy of cheers that shook the entire arena.

"Impossible! Even I can't endure Yan's fourth skill head-on. How can he?"

Xie Yue's composure faltered.

Dugu Feng truly was enduring Yan's fourth soul technique without dodging, face unchanged.

"What terrifying poison and what incredible physical endurance," Hu Liena murmured in awe.

The violet glow surrounding Dugu Feng constantly dissolved the flames.

To onlookers, it appeared as though Yan's magma was swallowing Dugu Feng whole—but in truth, it dissipated the instant before contact.

"This won't be an easy win," Hu Liena said softly, though she still believed Yan would prevail in the end.

For a Soul Elder to neutralize a Soul Master's attack was impressive, but the soul power cost would be massive—surely Dugu Feng couldn't sustain it long.

Originally, Yan and Dugu Feng stood on opposite ends of the stage.

Now, Dugu Feng strode calmly into the center, moving closer and closer to Yan, each footstep carrying the weight of inevitability.

The closer he came, the heavier his killing intent grew.

Though he hadn't activated the full Killing God Domain, he could easily summon its murderous aura.

The killing intent bursting from him stunned Yan.

For a fleeting second, an image of mountains of corpses and seas of blood flashed before his mind, and an unfamiliar tremor of fear rippled through his spirit.

"How could I…fear? Die! Infernal Flames!"

Yan, unable to bear the pressure, unleashed his third soul skill.

A self-enhancement technique that greatly amplified both his strength and defense, doubling the might of his flames.

He charged toward Dugu Feng.

Originally, he'd wanted to maintain distance to avoid poisoning, but since his wide-area attack failed, there was no choice but to fight up close.

Under the power boost, his body swelled again, towering over four meters tall.

The flames on his body turned deep crimson streaked with blue, and his heat soared until he resembled a living fire giant.

His arms were the most daunting—dark red and wreathed with molten veins of lava, snaking around like fiery dragons with every swing.

This was his first soul skill—Infernal Magma Strike—a brutal close-range attack.

Combined with his second skill, Flame Rock, his melee strength was unparalleled among his peers.

But as he tried to approach Dugu Feng, he met fierce resistance.

Dugu Feng's third soul ring suddenly lit up.

A surge of dense dark-green soul power burst forth, forming into three humanoid projections that darted forward like swift phantoms.

He had waited to use this move until now to catch Yan completely off guard.

Had he used it earlier, the flames and magma's interference would have weakened its power.

Still, even now, the problem he'd anticipated occurred—the magma bubbles surged upward to intercept the phantoms.

"Jade Phosphor Twelve Fingers!"

Dugu Feng roared as both hands flicked wildly, unleashing streak upon streak of toxic energy.

Every strike shattered bubbles and dispersed flames, clearing a path.

"Kill!"

His shout thundered across the arena, each motion brimming with a chilling, deadly precision.

His finger strikes were like blades—razor-sharp, unrelenting—piercing toward Yan's position.

Two of the green phantoms were engulfed in fire and melted away, but the third broke through and struck Yan head-on.

Wrapped in purple-green energy, it latched onto him tightly.

Yan's molten rock-like skin sizzled and cracked under the poison's corrosion, the flames on his body flickering violently.

Moments ago, Dugu Feng had resisted Yan's hellfire; now Yan struggled to withstand Dugu Feng's venom.

The tide had turned—the attacker and defender had switched roles in an instant.
