Chapter 244: Meeting the King of Slaughter
Outside the forest, Tang Xiao and Tang Hao both sensed the strange fluctuations emanating from the Blue Silver Forest.
"Xiao San is absorbing his fifth spirit ring. That must be A-Yin's gift." Tang Xiao sighed softly.
"I will avenge A-Yin," Tang Hao said bitterly. "Sooner or later, I'll find the one who stole her spirit bone."
Tang Hao strongly suspected that the one who took A-Yin's spirit bone was also the same person who had twice stolen Tang San's external spirit bone.
That thief knew him too well. Back then, while Tang Hao had been occupied protecting Tang San on the way to Shrek Academy, the culprit had taken A-Yin and her spirit bone.
Now, to have targeted his son's external ring again—there was no doubt it was the same person, someone stalking them relentlessly.
Tang Hao had already shared these thoughts with Tang Xiao.
Both brothers swore to one day capture this hidden enemy.
This time, they would use Tang San's ring absorption as bait—if that person was watching, he would surely appear.
"Brother, nothing yet. The Second Elder and Third Elder haven't found anything either," Tang Xiao whispered. Though calm outwardly, he was speaking to Tang Hao using secret soul transmission.
They weren't alone—two additional Title Douluos were hidden around them, guarding Tang San from different directions.
Everyone was waiting—ready for the shadow to show itself.
"Patience," Tang Hao said coldly. "Let Xiao San finish the absorption first."
Time passed quietly. Soon, Tang San's aura steadied—his ring absorption was complete.
But nothing happened. No signs of disturbance, no threats nearby.
It seemed the hidden enemy wouldn't show this time.
Tang Hao and Tang Xiao exchanged disappointed glances.
"He's watching, I know it," Tang Hao growled. "Once we escort Xiao San to the City of Slaughter, we'll see if he dares to make a move there."
The mention of the City of Slaughter made Tang Xiao visibly uneasy.
He disliked the idea. It was too dangerous for Tang San.
But Tang Hao was resolute, and Tang San himself was eager.
He couldn't bear the quiet pace of normal cultivation—it was too slow. How long would it take to reach Title Douluo at that rate? How long until he could bestow rings upon his second martial spirit?
He craved faster growth.
After learning about the City of Slaughter from his father, Tang San saw potential.
In a place where spirit skills were forbidden, wouldn't his Tang Sect hidden weapons dominate completely?
With no external powers to rely on, it would truly be his arena.
Seeing his son's determination, Tang Xiao finally relented. All they could do was hope everything went smoothly.
Haotian Sect's recent streak of misfortunes had already left him deeply cautious.
Three days passed. Everything remained normal. Tang San finally emerged from the forest.
His strength had grown enormously—and even his appearance had changed.
He now bore a graceful resemblance to A-Yin, the Blue Silver Emperor herself.
Both Tang Xiao and Tang Hao were moved to tears.
For a brief moment, it felt as though A-Yin had returned to them.
Emotions calmed eventually, and the three set off again, accompanied in secret by the Second and Third Elders.
Together—five in total—they headed toward the City of Slaughter.
Meanwhile, in that dread city itself, Dugu Feng and Xiong Ba had arrived once more.
He had encountered Xiong Ba back in Heaven Dou City, right after safely bringing Ning Rongrong home.
While in Heaven Dou, he had told her only that he intended to train at the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well to break through to Spirit Emperor.
He kept his true goal—returning to the City of Slaughter—a secret from everyone.
Even Ning Fengzhi couldn't know.
If chaos erupted there and his name surfaced, suspicion would inevitably fall on him and the Dugu Clan.
And the clan still needed to remain in the shadows—hidden, powerful, and safe.
Caution was always Dugu Feng's strongest weapon.
He and Xiong Ba traveled unhindered until they reached the mountains behind the Killing Town, where an entrance to the City of Slaughter lay hidden.
Before entering, Dugu Feng released his Jade Dragon Snakes.
He instructed them to patrol the outer perimeter of the city.
With their stealth and perception, any visitors—be it Bibi Dong or Tang Hao—would be detected the moment they approached.
Once satisfied, Dugu Feng and Xiong Ba entered the gate, stepping again into the blood-drenched streets of the inner city.
Along the way, he learned from Xiong Ba why the King of Slaughter wanted to meet him:
to discuss strategies against Spirit Hall and the Haotian Sect.
Apparently, the King was nervous—perhaps even frightened.
Or maybe Dugu Feng's public manipulations had worked too well.
The phrase "One generation of Haotian, one generation of kings—each hammer slays a pope" had spread throughout the continent.
Even the King of Slaughter had reason to fear—what if the Haotian Hammer fell upon the City of Slaughter next?
That wariness suited Dugu Feng perfectly.
Enemies growing paranoid meant advantage. He needed blood to boil among them—to make them fight, not peace.
Walking through the dim streets, a familiar thrill stirred within him.
The killing aura in his veins responded, hungering to awaken.
Perhaps this visit could also help him refine his Killing Domain into Shura Power.
Soon after, he arrived at the chamber of the King of Slaughter.
The King looked unchanged—still draped in a massive crimson cloak, pale as ash, eyes burning blood-red.
"Demon King of Poison," he said sharply. "You claimed you could handle the two Killing Gods. Yet Haotian Sect and Spirit Hall grow stronger by the day. What have you done?"
His booming voice filled the hall—a test of dominance.
Dugu Feng glanced briefly at Xiong Ba and the seductive woman standing beside the King, silently implying that he wanted privacy.
He was no subordinate anymore; he had the right to set his own terms.
The King's eyes flickered. He hadn't expected Dugu Feng to ignore his intimidation so calmly.
Looking closely, he realized how much the young man had changed.
From a reckless youth—a mere Spirit Grandmaster—he had become a composed, palpable force, his Spirit King-level energy radiating beneath the surface like a volcano ready to erupt.
That power made the King nod inwardly.
The stronger Dugu Feng was, the more useful he would be.
"Leave us," the King ordered coldly.
Xiong Ba obeyed immediately, while the woman shot Dugu Feng a venomous glare before swaying her hips out the door.
As the room fell silent, Dugu Feng said casually, "Great King, you must see that the current conflict between Haotian Sect and Spirit Hall was not mere coincidence."
"Oh?" The King sneered. "Are you saying this is your work?"
"Without my guidance, such flames wouldn't have spread across the continent," Dugu Feng replied coolly.
"Haotian Sect has hidden its power for years.
Aside from Tang Hao and Tang Xiao, five other Title Douluos had concealed themselves until recently.
Do you think their exposure was an accident, My Lord?"
The King went silent.
Dugu Feng's tone was calm, but his meaning was sharp: their alliance existed because of him—and he deserved credit.
Now came the time for the King of Slaughter to pull his weight, to strike when Haotian Sect and Spirit Hall were at each other's throats.
The poison had been sown.
It was time for the slaughter to begin.
