Chapter 219: The Two Angry Silver Dragon Kings?
"What are you going to find her for?"
Na'er's delicate face tightened in a frown. Was he seriously planning to leave again?
She suspected he was just joking—trying to make her plead with him to stay.
"Jiang Chen! Stop right there!"
She dashed down the stairs and grabbed the corner of his jacket, refusing to let go.
After all the effort it took to get him here, how could she possibly let him walk away now?
Send him back to Gu Yue or Xue Di?
Absolutely not!
"What are you doing?" he sighed. "Miss, I don't have time to babysit you!"
He began to suspect that she was plotting revenge—keeping him here to tease him until she repaid all past humiliations.
If that was her plan, she could dream on.
Na'er pushed him back onto the sofa, gritting her teeth as her silver eyes flashed.
"You're staying here. You're not going anywhere!"
"Why?" he demanded.
"Because Gu Yue won't let you off so easily. Only I can protect you!"
Jiang Chen blinked, utterly baffled.
"Protect me? Shouldn't you be the one in danger?"
He poked her forehead lightly, leaving a faint red mark.
"Let me remind you—I'm the one protecting you."
"So listen obediently. I'm not staying. If something comes up, message me."
Did he want to live there?
Of course he did.
But what about Xue Di?
Gu Yue was easy enough to coax when angry, but Xue Di… Xue Di simply vanished when upset, leaving him no chance to explain.
And besides—men and women shouldn't share quarters!
He was pursuing Xue Di now. Living under the same roof with Na'er would look very bad for his "pure and devoted" image.
"Let me go," he said firmly. "I have to find Xue Di."
He'd nearly forgotten—he hadn't even told her he was back.
If Gu Yue's sudden abduction had left her stewing in icy fury, he'd better calm her down before things got worse.
"I'm not letting you go!" Na'er retorted. She wrapped her arms around his waist, pulling him down with her onto the sofa.
When he opened his mouth to protest again, she bit him.
A sharp nip against his lips.
"Shut up!" she snapped.
Meanwhile, at the Lake of Life, silver light burst from the depths.
A woman emerged—striking, radiant, her long silver hair glistening with droplets of water that sparkled like crystal.
Her violet eyes gleamed bright and cold, her black dress flowing elegantly down her perfect form. Delicate stockings embroidered with roses traced her long legs, combining grace with undeniable allure.
With a wave of her slender hand, the moisture vanished from her body.
Her silver hair darkened to midnight black; her divine beauty faded into something plain, humble, deceptively ordinary.
"I have reconnected with the Dragon God's Heart!" she declared proudly. "Once I seize the Golden Dragon King's bloodline, I shall become the true Dragon God and restore the dragon race's glory!"
"I will be the ruler of all dragons!"
A faint smile tugged at Gu Yue's lips.
"That fool must be bored to death by now," she murmured. "Serves him right—always clinging to that woman! You're meant to walk the dragon's path, not fool around with soul beasts!"
"Consider this… a small punishment from me."
Every time she pictured Jiang Chen with Xue Di, irritation boiled in her chest. The Dragon God's power required emotional balance—and anger made it unstable—so she'd locked him away partly to calm herself.
Now, with her emotions steady, she reached out with her spiritual sense to sweep the entire city below.
And froze.
"Where… is he?"
Her smile vanished.
In the next instant, she teleported.
Appearing inside the villa.
"Master!" Bi Ji greeted her calmly. She was used to her mistress appearing out of nowhere.
Sensing the icy aura radiating from Gu Yue, she lowered her head respectfully.
Bi Ji released a wave of soothing life energy to temper the tension, but it barely made a dent.
"Where is he?" Gu Yue asked coldly.
Bi Ji didn't dare stall. "Master… Jiang Chen is gone."
The air instantly froze.
Gu Yue's gaze sharpened to a killing edge. The pressure of her spiritual aura pressed down like an avalanche.
For one who ruled as Queen of all soul beasts, disobedience was unforgivable.
Her fury was palpable, the rise and fall of her chest betraying her anger.
Bi Ji spoke quickly. "He said he had urgent business and went back. He promised to wait for you at the academy gates once you left seclusion."
"Master, forgive my boldness, but cutting him off from the network and trying to control him like this—someone like Jiang Chen won't tolerate it."
"If you want to reach him, try… a gentler approach. He yields to kindness, not force."
Gu Yue crossed her arms. "You mean I should please him? Don't be absurd."
Bi Ji sighed silently.
So much for advice.
If things continued like this, Gu Yue might lose not only a friend but make an enemy.
And if—just if—her master truly developed feelings for him… that could end in disaster.
Bi Ji had known for ages that Jiang Chen was no ordinary man.
He resembled Ditian in strength of will—but was fundamentally different.
Ditian's arrogance came from proud lineage, from witnessing the splendor of the dragon clan.
Jiang Chen's arrogance was innate—an inborn dominance that bowed to no one. Everything in the world existed beneath his gaze.
Gu Yue, though brilliant, always defaulted to force when conflicted.
Whatever she desired, she had to possess.
Given her nature, imprisoning Jiang Chen—or worse—was entirely within the realm of possibility.
Bi Ji could only warn softly, "Master, he and Xue Di have known each other for years. They walk the road to godhood together. That bond isn't something you can sever."
"You're saying I'm inferior to that woman?"
Gu Yue's violet eyes flared dangerously.
The air thickened with death. Even the dragon egg beside them ceased its pulse—life energy halting as if frozen in time.
Bi Ji's face went pale, hands raised. "N-no, Master, that's not what I meant! I only meant you might want to… change your approach a little!"
"You're teaching me how to act now?"
Bi Ji clamped her mouth shut immediately.
Fine. Let fate take its course.
She'd tried.
As Gu Yue's silhouette vanished again, Bi Ji sighed deeply, rubbing her forehead.
"Alas… she really is turning into one of those human drama characters," she muttered.
"At least she has strength on her side."
Then, glancing toward the city below, she added quietly, "Poor Jiang Chen, though… he's the one who'll be suffering soon."
