Chapter 260: Shrek Encounters Evil Soul Masters!
"Hey? Na'er? You really don't want to go back?"
In the neighboring villa, the Shrek team was busy packing their belongings.
Dai Lingyu grumbled in frustration.
"What's so great about staying here anyway? Shrek Academy is way better!"
That was right—Dai Lingyu had taken a liking to Na'er.
Beauty, strength, and the personal disciple of Sea God Pavilion Master Yun Ming—she had everything.
If she could become his sister-in-law, that would be perfect.
Once the idea took root, Dai Lingyu started encouraging his fourth brother to take action.
Of course, Dai Yueyan was already thinking along the same lines.
Na'er was gorgeous, talented, and held an extraordinary status—very likely to succeed Yun Ming as Pavilion Master one day.
As the future emperor of the Star Luo Federation, forming such a bond with Shrek would be immensely beneficial.
Everything pointed toward pursuing her.
Unfortunately, Na'er gave them no chance at all.
Not only was she rarely seen, but even during team training for the Shrek Seven Devils, she was distant and elusive.
Dai Lingyu cast a look of disdain at his older brother.
Useless.
He then shifted his gaze toward Na'er, who sat silently on the sofa, lost in thought. Moving closer, he asked, "You're really not going back?"
He couldn't understand why she insisted on staying behind.
When he remembered the name she'd mentioned—and that she lived with that person—his brows furrowed.
"Na'er, living with a guy like that doesn't seem proper, you know."
Na'er didn't respond for a long while.
Finally, her eyes refocused, and she said quietly, "He's different."
Dai Lingyu: …
…
"Wulin, what's wrong?"
Xie Xie had noticed Tang Wulin's gloomy mood and had been trying for days to cheer him up.
"Come on, it's just a woman! What's there to sulk about? Think about the future! Someday, when we're Title Douluo, you can have any woman you want!"
He puffed out his chest proudly. "I'll even find you seven or eight beautiful ones!"
"Disgusting!"
Xu Xiaoyan stomped on his foot hard. "You pervert! Stop drooling over girls!"
"Shut up already!"
She didn't even know how to console Tang Wulin—what could she say?
After all, the senior sister he was hung up on had once been her brother's girlfriend.
Watching her friend spiral deeper into heartbreak made her feel helpless.
Love really was terrifying.
At his age, he should be focusing on studies!
She patted her chest, thought for a moment, and decided to tell him, "My brother's here these days."
Tang Wulin didn't move—but something in his aura shifted.
Xu Xiaoyan continued, "He's… with Senior Sister Zixin."
Tang Wulin froze.
And then she delivered the final blow. "They haven't returned for two days."
That did it. Wulin's heart snapped.
"Xie Xie, Xu Xiaoyan—see you later!"
Without even finishing lunch, he bolted out like a man fleeing disaster.
Xie Xie stared at Xu Xiaoyan, exasperated. "What's wrong with you!? Why'd you tell him that!?"
Even he felt bad for the guy.
Xu Xiaoyan sighed. "I'm helping him! He needs to give up already. It's been so long and Senior Sister Zixin still hasn't budged. That means there's no chance! If he keeps this up, he'll just waste his time—and his talent!"
She was right. Wulin's potential far surpassed both her and Xie Xie's.
Watching him waste it over love was painful.
"I don't care," Xie Xie huffed. "You broke his heart! He was barely holding together, and now? You've crushed him."
"Then go comfort your dear brother," she retorted.
…
Today was both a sad day—and the day Tang Wulin was to depart.
Looking back at the place that had brought him so much pain, he knew it was time to move on.
Maybe he'd return in a year. Maybe two.
It would depend on how quickly he progressed, and more importantly—on his studies under Zhuo Shi, who would teach him how to create his own bloodline-based soul skill.
With only his Blue Silver Grass, he could never fully draw out the power of the Golden Dragon King bloodline in his body.
Alongside the returning Shrek students, several Douluo University exchange youths had also been chosen to go to Shrek Academy for study.
Unlike Wulin, however, they were just there for training—he was there as a personal student.
He didn't really know them—and in his depressed state, he wasn't in the mood for conversation anyway.
"Where's Sister Xinglan? Anyone seen her?"
In the Douluo City airport terminal, Xu Lizhi had been searching around in a panic.
After what had happened at the hotel last time, he had almost been heartbroken.
Thankfully, Ye Xinglan had given him a brief explanation later—it was only training.
He believed her wholeheartedly.
His Sister Xinglan would never lie to him!
She hadn't found a boyfriend! She hadn't given herself away to someone else!
Relieved, he'd stopped worrying.
But now, after two days without seeing her and zero replies to his messages, his anxiety was returning fast.
As departure time drew near, panic set in.
"Ye Xinglan has requested leave. She said she'll come back in a few days," Dai Lingyu said cheerfully, trying to reassure him.
"Oh… a few days?"
With no other choice, the Shrek team boarded without her.
The decision to leave had come suddenly—no one wanted to linger on "enemy" territory any longer.
If Ye Xinglan had chosen to stay, so be it. She had come on her own—forcing her to return now was unnecessary.
The priority was getting everyone else back to Shrek safely.
That was Zhuo Shi's conclusion.
Still, he couldn't shake off a vague, uneasy feeling.
"Boarding complete. Prepare for takeoff."
This was the newly opened direct route between the Douluo Federation and the Star Luo Federation—from Douluo City to Star Luo City.
As the Soul-Guided aircraft soared into the sky, white clouds streamed past the windows like rivers of fog. The world below retreated at incredible speed.
Everything was perfectly smooth—until suddenly, the bright blue sky split open.
A jagged surge of dark violet energy tore the horizon apart, slicing through the clouds—its path aimed straight at their ship.
Boom!
The aircraft's defense array activated immediately, but the impact shook it hard.
Inside, the passengers jolted violently as if riding a runaway roller coaster.
"How dare they! Who would attack the Star Luo delegation's ship!?"
