Chapter 236: What Class of Trash Dares to Cackle?

The sudden voice startled everyone into a brief silence.

The blue robed woman at the forefront, her face pale and mature, froze mid motion. A flicker of hope appeared in her eyes, and the expressions of the Jia Nan Academy students behind her shifted to show similar anticipation.

On the other side, the Blood Sect's group tensed momentarily. Though confident in their strength, they couldn't completely rule out the possibility that someone formidable from Jia Nan Academy had come to their rescue. After all, the academy had produced many capable graduates who roamed the Black Corner Region.

Both groups turned to the source of the voice. As the figure emerged, the atmosphere grew heavy again but for entirely different reasons.

A black clad youth, no older than sixteen or seventeen, sauntered confidently forward with an expression of exaggerated heroism.

The Jia Nan Academy members' brief flicker of hope quickly turned to despair. Their pale faces became even more ashen as they realized their so called "savior" was just a boy.

On the other hand, the Blood Sect's members were no longer tense. In fact, they were laughing so hard that some of them were doubled over.

"I thought it was someone impressive, but it's just a fool!" Fan Ling, the Blood Sect's young master, sneered.

After laughing heartily, he fixed a cold gaze on the boy. "Kid, I'll give you one chance. You've amused me, so leave now, and I'll spare your life."

Xiao Yan, the black clad youth, chuckled and shook his head. "I said, let go of those girls."

He continued walking toward the group, eventually stopping near the Jia Nan Academy party. His gaze swept over the young women in the group before sighing, visibly disappointed.

"Not bad, but not great," he muttered to himself. His standards, shaped by his time in the company of top tier beauties, were evidently higher than most.

The blue robed woman, seeing the boy approach, forced a bitter smile. "Young man, you should leave now. You can't possibly stand against them."

She didn't want this good hearted stranger to get caught in their troubles.

But Xiao Yan merely grinned mischievously. "If I drive them off, you girls are mine, right?"

The blue robed woman froze, her forced smile stiffening. The other female students also stared blankly at the youth, unsure of how to react to his playful tone. Normally, they would have reprimanded such an audacious statement. But in their current dire situation, they lacked the energy to respond.

The Blood Sect members, however, burst into mocking laughter.

"This guy must've lost his mind!" one lackey jeered.

Fan Ling himself chuckled darkly. "You're a riot, kid. But I'd be doing the world a favor by putting you out of your misery. How about I feed you to the blood ants to clear your head?"

Before Fan Ling could finish his taunt, a fierce gust of wind rushed past him, stinging his face. A shadow flashed before his eyes, followed by a loud, resounding smack.

Fan Ling's body spun uncontrollably before slamming into the ground, leaving a deep crater. The deafening slap echoed across the battlefield as everyone froze in shock.

When they looked again, they saw Xiao Yan standing over Fan Ling, his foot firmly planted on the young master's face.

The Blood Sect members gaped in disbelief. Even the Jia Nan Academy party was stunned.

"He… he has an afterimage technique!" someone whispered in awe.

Only now did they realize the youth wasn't some foolish braggart but a true expert.

Xiao Yan smirked as he looked down at Fan Ling. "I gave you a chance, didn't I? Too bad you didn't take it."

Fan Ling, humiliated and furious, roared, "You'll regret this! My father is the Blood Sect's leader! He'll kill you!"

Xiao Yan ignored the threat, his gaze calm and unwavering.

He let out a low grunt, as if gathering something in his throat, and spat.

What came out wasn't ordinary spit but a multicolored flame. The sight of the flame made Fan Ling's defiant expression crumble into terror.

"An… an Heavenly Flame?! No !"

The multicolored flame pierced through Fan Ling's chest effortlessly. His body ignited in a blaze of seven colored fire, burning away in mere moments.

The entire scene was eerily silent as the flame vanished, leaving nothing behind not even ashes.

The Blood Sect members stared in horror, their sneers and bravado replaced by trembling fear.

Xiao Yan cracked his neck and turned to the remaining Blood Sect members.

"What kind of trash uses lines like 'keh keh keh'?" he asked, his tone mockingly casual.

His finger twitched, summoning a small, multicolored serpent of flame.

"You picked the wrong person to mess with. Don't blame me; blame your poor judgment."

The fiery serpent darted toward the Blood Sect members, weaving through the air with deadly precision. One by one, their bodies ignited in flames, burning away into nothingness before they could even scream.

When it was over, Xiao Yan turned to the Jia Nan Academy group, his expression calm yet commanding.

For the first time, the group of students and their instructor truly understood the power of the man before them.

The blue robed woman, her voice trembling slightly, managed to whisper, "Who… who are you?"

Xiao Yan smirked. "Just someone passing through. Now, how about we get you back to safety?"
