Chapter 140: Ma Xiaotao Gets Addicted, Journey to the Extreme North
Ye Chen arrived at the inner court early.
Activating his Heaven and Earth Infinite Eyes, he swept his spiritual vision across the grounds, monitoring everything within range without restraint.
Even Mu En himself couldn't detect his gaze.
Though it was technically a support skill, it was astonishingly powerful—and as it grew with his spiritual strength, he couldn't help wondering if one day he'd be able to spy on the God Realm itself, to see how Tang San was doing now.
Recently, Ye Chen had made it a daily habit to curse Tang San.
Unfortunately, that curse seemed to weaken against stronger targets—"strong meets strong, weak meets weak." Ever since Tang San's power had dropped, the spell's effects had lessened.
Now, all it managed was to disrupt Tang San's spirit power for a while—no more realm reduction.
Still, that hint of backlash proved the connection existed.
Perhaps Tang San had found some countermeasure or recovered slightly from his wounds.
Either way, Ye Chen didn't mind. Even mild interference was enough.
If he kept at it, day by day, his "daily check-in" would eventually tie up Tang San's attention completely.
He didn't need the curse to kill him—just delay him for a few years.
"Ye Chen! I knew I'd find you here!"
Just as Ye Chen locked onto Zhang Lexuan's location through his spiritual sight, a familiar voice called out, full of delight.
Turning, he saw Ma Xiaotao striding toward him.
"Ah—Sister Xiao Tao? What are you doing here?" he asked, startled.
"Hmph, did you forget?"
Ma Xiaotao lifted her hand, showing off the ring on her finger—the birthday gift Ye Chen had given her.
As long as either of them infused it with soul power, they could sense each other's location within a certain range.
Ye Chen rarely used it.
Ma Xiaotao, on the other hand, used it often—but when he was in the outer court, she had deliberately held back to avoid bothering him.
The moment she sensed him enter the inner court, though, she couldn't resist rushing to meet him.
"Caught you, little brat! Sneaking into the inner court—up to something, aren't you?" she teased, grabbing him by the head and pulling him into her arms, rubbing his hair roughly.
"Ahem—Sister Xiao Tao, stop, I have serious business today…" Ye Chen said quickly, trying to pry her off.
Ever since that incident, Ye Chen had noticed that Ma Xiaotao seemed… addicted.
Even though she "lost" to him every time, by the next day, she'd be back to her spirited self and drag him through another all-nighter.
When she got tired, she quit first—but he was never allowed to rest, or she'd mock him for being weak.
Once or twice might have been manageable, but every day? With other women still needing his attention? Even for Ye Chen, it was exhausting.
"Hmph, serious business, huh? What kind of business could it be? You're not scared, are you?" she said with a sly grin, eyes glinting like a wolf closing in on its prey.
Ye Chen: "…"
…
Half a day later.
Ye Chen finally emerged from Ma Xiaotao's dorm, heading toward Zhang Lexuan's residence.
He didn't visit Zhang Lexuan often.
Every time he stepped into the inner court, Ma Xiaotao was the first to find him—and she never let him go afterward. Visiting Zhang Lexuan was almost impossible.
Still, every woman in Ye Chen's life had her own unique charm.
To appreciate them all, one had to take turns.
Lately, he couldn't help regretting progressing too fast with Ma Xiaotao.
Before that night, she had been gentle and caring—always attentive, always patient.
But afterward, everything changed.
The dark evil fire within her left her especially dependent on him—driven, and increasingly assertive. Every encounter now was wild, overwhelming, almost predatory.
It was only with Zhang Lexuan, calm and elegant, that Ye Chen could relax again—enjoy real warmth and tenderness.
Zhang Lexuan's personality was soothing, that of a nurturing elder sister. She made him feel a rare peace.
With a few quick teleports, he arrived at her courtyard.
Today, she wasn't training; she was tending to her flower garden, a picture of quiet grace.
Sensing his approach, she turned slightly—and a familiar smile spread across her face the moment she saw him.
"Xiao Chen, what brings you here?"
She set down her shears and walked over, her expression soft and radiant.
"Well, I missed you, of course. I had to come see my beautiful sister~" Ye Chen said with a grin.
Zhang Lexuan chuckled, hands resting on her hips, but her eyes still glittered warmly.
Today, she wore a simple pale-blue dress that reached mid-calf, revealing a glimpse of her shapely legs wrapped in sheer black stockings—dignified yet subtly alluring.
"What are you staring at? Naughty boy," she scolded gently, pinching his nose.
Ye Chen didn't even pretend to look away—his gaze was glued to her legs.
"Nothing…" he said with a crooked smile before clearing his throat. "Actually, Sister, I came to ask a favor."
"A favor? What's wrong, Xiao Chen? Tell me—whatever it is, I'll help," she said, instantly concerned.
"It's nothing serious," he explained. "I've reached level sixty and need to acquire a new soul ring."
Of course, he omitted the real plan. He didn't need her help to hunt one—he just wanted her along as backup and company.
"Already level sixty?!" Zhang Lexuan gasped.
Even knowing he had special cultivation methods, his growth speed defied logic—completely rewriting history itself.
Not even the famed Shrek Seven of old could match this rate.
At this pace, she realized, it wouldn't be long before he caught up to her.
"I just train fast, that's all. But I still need your protection, Sister~" Ye Chen said playfully.
"Don't give me that."
She rolled her eyes, half exasperated, half impressed.
Though she felt the pressure of his monstrous talent, pride and joy outweighed any trace of envy.
"When are you planning to depart?" she asked, already agreeing in her heart.
It didn't matter why he hadn't asked Yan Shaozhe or Xian Lin'er—what mattered was that he trusted her with this mission.
"Not immediately," Ye Chen replied. "I'll leave after the freshman assessment ends. For now, I just want to spend a little time with my favorite sister."
As he spoke, he reached for her hand, gently intertwining their fingers and giving them a light squeeze.
"Hmm~ such a sweet talker," she murmured, smiling shyly.
Ye Chen really did know how to charm his way into a woman's heart—his words, his eyes, even his timing. Everything about him radiated warmth and confidence, impossible to resist.
Zhang Lexuan's smile deepened, her heart light and happy.
He might be mischievous, but he always made the world feel brighter.
