Kairo kinda regretted killing Absalom. Not because killing was bad or anything, and it wasn't a moral thing to do.
Kairo's morals were dubious at best. It wasn't like he had no redeeming factors about him—no, there were plenty of those. He would not kill an innocent person, nor kill someone without a reason.
He had some morals, but they leaned more on the pragmatic side of things. If he saw a Celestial Dragon killing someone, if he could, he would kill that Celestial Dragon. But if it wasn't worth it, it simply wasn't worth it.
However, if it was a kid being assaulted, that head would come flying smoothly off. David did not like watching kids die, and Kairo did not want any kid to go through what he went through.
This was one of the few things the two souls agreed on.
Absalom did not fall into any of those categories. The reason why Kairo regretted killing him was simple.
"I could have used him to reanimate Roger." Yup, that was the reason—a body to summon the King of the Pirates.
Though Moria should have some stuff to give him.
Perona, however, was chirping like crazy, giving any and all info that she possessed, down to the last minute detail.
It seemed like she truly feared for her life.
Wonder why.
"So this Moria guy can steal our shadows?" Zoro was thoughtful for once. If someone's shadow got stolen, the sun would burn them.
Chopper, meanwhile, wasn't in the best of moods. At first, he was happy when he heard Doctor Hogback was on the island, but the second he found out what the man was doing, Chopper's view of the man was lowering by the second.
Even stories about what Moria did with shadows and about the ancient giant he had locked in a freezer somewhere.
This did pique Kairo's interest. He might have to go look at that corpse sometime soon.
"Where is Moria? I want to kick his ass." Luffy seemed ready to box. He was promised a fight—he would get it.
"He is over there."
Gum-Gum Rocket
"Didn't think he would be that eager," Kairo said, looking at Luffy's shape just vanishing into the background. He was going straight in that direction.
Nami's eyes were twitching. Could Luffy act like a captain for two fucking seconds?
"He will be fine," Kairo said nonchalantly, before his gaze landed on Zoro, then at the corpse that Absalom left behind. A shame—he could have used his body for a good cause.
Placing his hand on Zoro's shoulder, Kairo opened his mouth and said,
"I will be going now. Don't get yourself killed."
Before anyone could react, he vanished instantly.
There were now only a few people left on the ship: Nami, Robin, Franky, Usopp, and Chopper.
As for Brook, his ass had jumped onto the water and was running on it the second Luffy had jumped, so yeah, there was that.
Nami was annoyed. On one hand, she kinda wanted to go. On the other hand, she did not want to go to that scary place.
All here alone with the weak trio—herself included.
"Do not worry, Nami-swan, I will protect you!" Oh yeah, Sanji was still there.
Perona was still tied up, and she was still scared. It did not help that Absalom's body was still there.
And it also didn't help that his body looked so soulless, as if something that had been precious to it had been ripped away from his body.
"Sanji-kun," Nami said with doe-like eyes.
"Yes, Nami-swan!" Sanji would do anything if it meant impressing Nami.
And Nami kinda didn't want to be looking at a corpse 24/7, and you would catch her sooner giving Sanji a kiss before you ever caught her throwing that corpse overboard.
It wasn't like she had anything against corpses. It was just that the corpse of someone who had his Devil Fruit ripped out of his body while he was still living, and watching that person try to scream as their soul was sucked out of their body—like trying to scream with no lungs—made her not really want to touch that corpse in the slightest.
"Can you please toss the body away~" Acting so cute, as if she wouldn't scam Sanji for his money if she were given the chance.
"Your wish is my command!" Sanji bowed and all, before at superhuman speed teleporting—more like using Soru—in order to appear in front of the body.
He attempted to grab the body to just toss it into the ocean. However, as his hand touched the body, the skin just broke down, looking like a piece of shit in his hand.
It was, of course, very nasty.
Usopp almost puked, but he controlled himself. And Sanji, not willing to touch it any longer, stepped hard into the floor.
Sending the body into the air before kicking each and every single piece of the man's body into the ocean.
When he was done, he looked at his shoes... they looked like they were covered in shit.
So were his hands.
Yet, he could tell that was human remains.
