Chapter 30 - Chapter 29

Blood Reaper staggered to her feet, one wing dragging, smoke rising from a gash Sol carved straight across her chest. The wound burned with lunar corruption — white fire eating at her skin like acid.

Sol approached her slowly.

Like royalty.

Like a goddess.

Like death.

"Kneel," Sol commanded, voice echoing with divine pressure.

Not demonic.

Not celestial.

Lunar. Ancient. Pure.

Blood Reaper spat blood onto the ground.

"Bite me."

Sol blurred—

Her claws raked across Blood Reaper's abdomen before she could react.

CRASH—!

Blood Reaper flew backward, shattering a stone column of the old ruins. Rubble buried her. The ground smoked where her body skidded through.

Nina screamed,

"STOP! She's not your enemy—!"

Sol's head snapped toward Nina, eyes glowing white-hot.

"Everything beneath the Moon is mine."

Blood Reaper pushed herself out of the debris, coughing, wings trembling. She forced herself upright.

Sol watched her struggle.

Then—

Sol's aura shifted.

The air turned silver.

Gravity thickened.

The sky itself bent downward.

Nina gasped and covered her mouth in horror.

Sol's form began to change.

Her wings expanded—tripling in size, each feather now dripping silver light like molten moon-metal.

Her horns elongated upward, curling into a regal halo shape.

Her skin turned obsidian smooth, glowing with lunar veins.

A white full moon appeared behind her, hanging impossibly low, illuminating her like a queen's crown.

Her voice layered, divine:

"I am Sol, Daughter of Elyon.

Daughter of Morvath.

Moon Queen of the Last Light."

Nina stumbled backward, wings shaking.

"I—I can't—"

Her voice strangled, her lips locking involuntarily.

She grabbed at her throat.

"I can't SAY IT—!"

Destiny looked up, terrified.

"Nina?! What's happening—?"

Nina's eyes flooded with teal tears.

"It's— it's DIVINE LAW—"

She forced the words through clenched teeth.

"Angels… w-we can't speak against… t-the Moon Queens— THEY'RE ABOVE US—!"

Sol slowly turned her head toward Nina.

"Correct."

Nina choked on a sob of fury.

Blood Reaper snarled and forced her burning wings open.

The Moon Queen's light intensified—

blinding, crushing, suffocating.

Destiny shielded Keuirseu with her own body, shaking, praying silently.

Sol raised her hand.

A single gesture.

Blood Reaper's knees nearly buckled.

The pressure was so intense her bones creaked.

Sol stepped toward her like a goddess descending on a mortal.

"You cannot stand against us," Sol said.

"You were created from darkness.

I was created from Gods."

Blood Reaper exhaled a short, bloody laugh.

"Two gods," she mocked.

"No wonder you act like royalty."

Sol's eyes sharpened.

She extended her clawed hand—

aiming to slice Blood Reaper's head clean off.

Nina screamed, powerless to stop it.

"NO!"

Sol's blade-hand descended—

—and Blood Reaper barely blocked with her staff, sparks exploding where lunar metal met Reaper-flame.

CRACK—!

The staff splintered.

Sol lifted her other hand—ready to finish her—

When the ground beneath them quaked violently.

A massive pulse ripped through the air.

A starburst of black-red energy exploded from where Keuirseu lay.

Destiny screamed.

Nina's eyes widened in terror.

Sol slowly turned, fury flashing in her moonlit eyes.

Keuirseu's body floated upward—

limbs limp, head dropped—

eyes glowing with ancient, demonic fire.

Astaroth was waking.

Not just possessing.

Emerging.

Blood Reaper looked up through blood-soaked hair and smirked weakly.

"Moon Queen…

you might want to worry about the Duke of Hell inside my friend."

Sol's expression shifted from arrogance—

to recognition—

to rage.

The forest trembled.

The war had just escalated.

Astaroth's laughter echoed through the ruined clearing as purple lightning crawled over Keuirseu's skin. His body lifted off the ground, rising as if the world itself bowed to him.

Veins of violet light wrapped around his muscles, twisting into glowing runes. His wings unfurled — massive, radiant, dripping purple fire.

A tornado of energy spun around him, ripping up corpses, dirt, even pieces of the earth.

Destiny gasped as the purple light reflected in her eyes.

Keuirseu — or what was left of him — slowly lowered to his knees, head bowed.

The voice that came out of him was layered, ancient, seductive:

"Finally…

A body worthy of a God."

He rose, purple lightning snapping off his fingertips.

His eyes—no longer Keuirseu's—glowed with deep amethyst fire.

His gaze locked onto Destiny.

Astaroth smirked.

"And you…"

He tilted Keuirseu's head.

"Why are you so beautiful when you're frightened?"

Destiny felt her heart jolt.

Her knees weakened.

Her face flushed red.

Nina growled, stepping in front of her.

"BACK OFF."

Astaroth raised a brow.

"Relax, little angel. I'm only admiring."

Then, without even raising a hand—

every demon in Sol's army turned to ash.

Instantly.

Silently.

Gone.

Only Sol remained.

Her eyes widened.

Her wings trembled.

"Astaroth…"

Her voice cracked.

"Impossible. You should be dead."

Astaroth winked at Destiny.

"I am very…

very alive."

Sol snarled and, fueled by fury and fear, grabbed Blood Reaper by the jaw and crushed it audibly before throwing her aside like trash.

Blood Reaper hit a pile of bodies, black-gold fire sputtering from her mouth.

Destiny screamed, "BR!"

Astaroth didn't flinch.

He shot toward Sol in a blur, slamming her into the corpse pile and pinning her by the throat.

Sol tried to resist — but he tightened his grip.

Purple flames sank into her neck, draining her soul.

Sol choked, eyes flickering.

Astaroth leaned in close, whispering wickedly:

"Bow to your better."

Blood Reaper rose, cracked her jaw back into place with a snap.

She, Nina, and Destiny all froze—

As Astaroth released Sol and turned around…

And instantly—

Keuirseu blinked.

His wings shrank.

His runes faded.

His hood reformed.

His eyes softened back to their normal sweet glow.

He looked down at himself, confused.

"Huh?"

He rubbed the back of his head.

"What… happened?"

Everyone stared at him in horror.

He smiled awkwardly.

"Did I miss something?"

Sol's body hit the ground with a wet, echoing thud.

Her wings twitched once.

Her fingers curled.

Then—

nothing.

Astaroth had drained her down to an empty shell.

The Moon Queen was dead.

The forest fell silent — like reality itself held its breath.

A small sound broke the silence.

"...Keuirseu?"

Destiny.

She stumbled through the ash, tears on her cheeks, eyes locked only on him.

Keuirseu turned toward her, blinking, confused — still half in a daze.

Destiny didn't hesitate.

She ran.

And she slammed into him, arms wrapping around his waist, head buried in his chest.

"Keuirseu—! I thought— I thought you were gone—!"

Keuirseu froze.

All the confidence Astaroth had?

Gone.

Deleted.

Replaced with a panic attack wrapped in wings.

His face turned bright red.

His wings puffed out like startled bird feathers.

His hands hovered uselessly in the air.

"I—uh—D-Dest—Des—Destin—Dest—"

He swallowed hard.

His voice cracked.

"I… am… being… hugged… by… girl…"

Destiny pulled back, face red too.

"You're alive," she whispered.

Keuirseu blinked rapidly, unable to look at her.

"I-I'm sorry I— I didn't— I didn't mean—"

His voice shook so hard he sounded like he might pass out.

"I don't know what— I don't know what happened— I'm not— I didn't—"

His wings wrapped around himself in embarrassment.

Destiny touched his cheek gently.

"It wasn't you," she said.

But Keuirseu didn't believe it.

Blood Reaper stood over Sol's corpse, jaw still cracked, blood dripping down her chin.

She barely flinched as Nina approached.

Nina stopped right in front of her.

Her teal eyes shimmered with a strange recognition… a memory long-buried.

"You…" she whispered.

Blood Reaper tilted her head slightly.

Nina stepped back once, wings trembling.

"I haven't seen you since—"

Her breath caught.

"—since you were a baby."

Blood Reaper's eyes narrowed, expression unreadable.

A long silence.

Then Nina took another step backward… then another.

Without another word—

she took off into the sky, wings burning blue fire behind her, fleeing as if she had seen a ghost returned to life.

Destiny watched her go, confused.

Keuirseu watched her go, trembling.

Blood Reaper watched her go, eyes full of ancient knowing.

The last of the purple glow faded from Keuirseu's eyes.

And then—

the memories hit.

His breath hitched.

His knees buckled.

He clutched his chest as if stabbed.

Images flooded him:

— his hands crushing throats

— people screaming

— blood splattering his face

— bodies tearing like paper

— Shadow laughing through his voice

— their eyes staring at him as they died

He dropped to the ground.

"No… no… that wasn't…

that wasn't me— it wasn't me—"

Destiny knelt beside him.

"Keuirseu, don't—"

His voice broke into a sob.

"I felt them die," he whispered.

"I felt their souls— I felt their fear—

I… did that… I…"

Blood Reaper stepped forward, her shadow falling over him.

"It wasn't you," she said firmly.

Keuirseu stared at her, eyes wet and horrified.

"But I REMEMBER—!" he cried.

Blood Reaper crouched down, grabbing his chin and forcing him to meet her gaze.

"That was Shadow.

And Astaroth.

Not YOU."

Keuirseu shook, shoulders trembling.

"But… I let them in…"

Blood Reaper released him.

"But you're still here."

Destiny wrapped an arm around him.

He didn't pull away.

He shook in her arms.

The forest remained silent…

Sol's corpse cooling…

Nina gone…

Shadow sealed in a vial…

Astaroth lurking inside Keuirseu's soul…

And war is still coming.
