After the momentary silence, the first floor erupted in cheers.
''Wow! Would you look at that? His punch was so fast I couldn't even perceive it.''
''To think he would knock a Sixth Life Rank swordsman.''
''Even though he was still a Novice Life Rank to be knocked out so effortlessly prove this man was beyond his level, incredibly so.''
''So handsome, so strong!" The female adventurer who shouted this felt a chill down her spine and stopped speaking altogether as she felt death looming if she were to entertain any weird thought.
Meanwhile, the couple, followed by Lucien, arrived at one of the counters with an elf receptionist, a bob-cut blonde with green eyes.
''Welcome, what can I do for you?" With a professional smile, she asked the couple trying not to show her surprise.
''We wish to register and become adventurers,'' Gabriel said to the receptionist who nodded.
''1 silver coin per person,'' she said and Lilith was the one to speak next.
''We don't have any money, but on our way here, we killed a bunch of monsters we wish to sell. Is that possible?"
''Yes, it is, but because you aren't an adventurer yet, a certain fee will be deducted.''
''No problem!" The couple found no problem with this and soon they were led to another room where the receptionist asked to bring out the monsters they wished to sell. Lucien was left being, he seemed uncomfortable being left in the middle of a bunch of adventurers, and he felt they were eyeing him like prey.
Meanwhile, in the other room, Lilith stepped forward before slashing upward, opening up space. The receptionist widened her eyes; it was her first time seeing something like this despite having lived so long. This woman could be more powerful than she initially asserted her to be. A powerful demon and an angel, chaotic times await, she firmly believed.
From the void, the carcasses of countless monsters were thrown out and soon piled up on the platform in front of the group.
The elven receptionist was so surprised she stayed silent until Lilith's voice brought the elf receptionist back to the conversation at hand, and she gave a slight nod in apology.
''So, how much can we get from this?"
''Let me calculate. She ran a quick calculation after appraising each monster; she was certain these two were really powerful.
''200 Gold coins minus the five percent fee, which is equal to 10 gold. I will give you 190 gold coins, and as a bonus, you will be registered for free. Is that okay with you?''
Lilith and Gabriel exchanged a look, seeing surprise in each other's eyes. If they knew the few casual monsters Lilith had picked could fetch so much, they could have brought more.
''Yes, it is.'' Gabriel accepted the offer, and soon the trio was back on the first floor. The couple waited beyond the counter.
''I'm Elfie.'' the elven receptionist introduced herself.
''Gabriel!"
''Lilith!"
''Okay, Gabriel and Lilith, please fill these forms and dip your blood at the end, we will use it to register you.'' She gave them two papers with two pens. They scanned through it, important things like name, race, age, any affiliation, any criminal record, and a warning about how dangerous this job is, better not take it too lightly. Adventuring is not only about seeking wealth and glory, but it's also about protecting the people so it must never be taken lightly.
The couple had to admit it, this sentence held some truth to it. They filled the form, dripping a little bit of blood on it before handing it over to Elfie, who verified it before nodding. They put angel and demon in the race section.
Elfie took it and disappeared somewhere before returning, handing two black cards and two orange dog tags. As soon as she handed over she began explaining to the couple.
''Adventurer is divided into five ranks from the lowest to the highest. 1-Star:Orange tag, 2-Stars:Green tag, 3-Stars: Blue Tag, 4-Stars: Black Tag and lastly 5-Stars: Gold tag. The black card serves as identification, a pass to go to any country while also serving as a credit card. As soon as you've registered an account, which has been created at the universal bank, you can store your money and pay whatever you want with this card. Better not lose it neither of them because to reissue it, it will cost 1 gold coin. You'll only receive missions corresponding to your rank. To increase your rank, it will be through missions and tests.''
The couple nodded, finding this system interesting. They wore their respective tag while pocketing the cards.
''I want to ask something,'' Lilith said while looking straight at Elfie in the eyes.
''Go ahead.''
''I want to know if it is possible to skip rank directly?"
All eyes were on the couple again right after Lilith raised this question.
''Another one who wants to skip rank,'' one of the adventurers mumbled, but when Gabriel looked in his direction, he looked elsewhere.
''Well, normally it's impossible, you'll have to slowly rise in rank.'' Elfie explained with a light smile.
''With our strength, it will be a waste of time to start at the lowest rank. Our strength will not be put to real use. Hence, if it's possible to take a shortcut to rise in rank it will be great. For example, facing someone powerful to test us.'' At the end of her sentence, she released a little of her strength; immense pressure bore down on those present. Gabriel did the same, doubling the pressure. Every receptionist and every single adventurer present wore a serious expression. Those two are really powerful.
Elfie messaged her temple before saying.
''I'll be back shortly.''
She disappeared upstairs, surely to meet the guild master.
Gabriel nodded looking at her retreating back his thoughts unknown before giving one gold piece to Lucien, bidding him farewell. The latter was too emotional to form any coherent words; he was lucky, as he could pocket the rest of the money after paying the entrance fee.
