Chapter 107 - Chapter 107: The Good Guy Corin

Corin saw from afar that the Leviathan was taken down not long after. No surprise at all.

"With these two together, even if you throw them into an unfamiliar map, they'd still rage-clear it."

He looked up at the sky. The alien chariots that had been flying everywhere just moments ago were now almost gone.

But on the ground, the Chitauri infantry were still moving in groups.

Colonel Rogers had used everything he had to rescue the civilians trapped in the bank. He now stood there silently.

His profile was full of iron will and exhaustion.

Agent Natasha was hijacking a chariot, flying toward Stark Tower, but she could only steer it. She couldn't fight back.

Behind her was another chariot.

Energy blasts came one after another. Natasha was being chased nonstop.

And Loki, in full armor, was sitting leisurely in the back seat of that chariot.

Corin's eyes lit up, then his face turned disgusted.

'Chariot? Good stuff!'

'Loki? Piece of trash!'

With a powerful leap, he flew toward the building.

He was determined to get that 3 billion.

"Ugh! Barton! Help me out!"

Natasha's chest hurt from the chase. The enemy's energy cannons were terrifying. One shot nearly brushed past her hair.

With no lifesaving ability at all, Natasha's palms turned cold, and she couldn't help calling for backup.

Barton stayed calm, drawing his bow and releasing an arrow.

Whoosh!

The arrow shot straight at Loki's carotid artery, but just before it hit, Loki grabbed it firmly in his hand.

At that moment, Corin in midair muttered inwardly, 'Not good.'

He didn't know whether other arrows had explosive tips, but the one shot at Loki definitely did.

If he didn't act now, the money would be gone again.

"Agent Romanoff, jump!"

Natasha had just reached near her target location. The thought of jumping off the chariot had just crossed her mind when she heard Corin's reminder.

Who knew his words would actually delay her timing.

Before Corin even finished speaking, the magnetic field had already covered the area.

The two chariots, front and back, defied Newton's laws and froze in midair.

But the chariots stopped.

The people didn't.

"… "

Loki had just grabbed the arrow and was about to show off when he flew forward.

Spinning in midair, Loki's mind was full of question marks.

"Are the brakes that sensitive?"

BOOM!

Before Loki could form another thought, the arrowhead in his hand flashed blue and exploded right beside his face.

The shockwave blasted him toward Stark Tower.

Agent Natasha was also flung hard into the air.

"Ah!"

What does it feel like to free-fall from the top of a skyscraper?

You'd have to ask Tony.

But Natasha knew she was probably done for. She couldn't fly.

She screamed instinctively. Watching the ground getting closer and closer, her eyes filled with despair.

Corin controlled himself and the two chariots, landing steadily on the rooftop of Stark Tower. He raised his hand and redeemed:

[Redemption successful! +3 billion USD! Account balance: 355 billion USD]

At the same time, he saw Natasha's figure falling downward.

"Damn it, didn't I tell you to jump?"

Corin had no choice but to release another force field.

Creak!

A teeth-grating sound rang out as a piece of metal was torn off from Stark Tower's outer layer, chasing after Natasha.

———

At that moment, an explosion sounded not far away. A figure flew out of the smoke. It was Loki.

Though he had a godly body and strong resistance to hits, even he couldn't fully withstand the chain of explosion and crash.

He landed flat on his back on Stark Tower's rooftop. His helmet flew off, and his hair was a mess.

The large metal plate Corin controlled caught Natasha steadily in midair, then turned into an elevator and lifted her back up.

At this moment, Natasha deeply felt that S.H.I.E.L.D.'s uniform was truly breathable.

If it wasn't, the sweat in her pockets alone would've drowned her.

Landing safely on the upper rooftop, the survivor of disaster dropped onto the ground. Her eyes happened to meet Dr. Selvig, who had just regained consciousness.

Corin took two steps toward Loki and noticed his hand was empty.

"Where's the scepter?"

Just then, a huge figure jumped up.

Loki's face was full of anger. The explosion had shattered the elegance he had conserved for so long.

Bang!

Before he could even stand up, Hulk charged over and rammed him flying again, slamming him into the wall inside the hall before bouncing back down.

The floor-to-ceiling windows shattered everywhere…

"No technique at all. Seriously?"

Facing the brutal Hulk, Loki could no longer suppress his rage, "ENOUGH!"

"You are all of you, beaneth me! I am a god you dull creature!"

"I will not be bullied by—"

With eyes wide in fury, Loki loudly declared his superiority. Before he could finish, his body was dragged out of frame.

Hulk grabbed Loki by the leg and smashed him back and forth on the floor, like women in the old days pounding clothes against rocks by the river.

Even the sound was the same: Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

There was even a bit of rhythm.

Each slam created a shallow crater in the floor, sending debris flying.

What shattered all over the place along with it was Loki's dignity.

At this moment, Loki was the hammer in Hulk's hand, as if testing the earthquake resistance of Stark Tower's flooring.

To be fair, not bad.

All that smashing, and the floor was still mostly fine.

After the storm passed, Hulk walked away satisfied.

"Puny god."

He couldn't understand how this weakling dared to show off in front of him, and spat in disdain.

Meanwhile, poor Loki was embedded in the floor like a dead hamster, arms curled up, eyes lifeless, questioning his godhood.

Tap! Tap!

Before long, Corin walked over, holding the Mind Scepter. Seeing Loki lying there in a daze, he couldn't help smiling.

"Went too far, huh?"

He had just found the scepter on the lower balcony after searching for a while.

But he didn't need to go downstairs to get it. With a raise of his hand, the scepter flew into his grasp.

Right then, he heard Loki shouting and turned around just in time to see Hulk wildly smashing him on the ground.

'Hiss!'

'It hurt just looking at it.'

Only because Loki had special bloodlines. Anyone else would've exploded into a cloud of blood long ago.

Still, it really looked stress-relieving.

Corin suddenly remembered watching movies with popcorn back in the day.

"How come there's no popcorn?"

"A grilled sausage would work too!

"Or a can of cold beer, with some peanuts and edamame. That'd be perfect…"

Loki wasn't in mortal danger. He hadn't even passed out. His eyes were still open.

He had just experienced the double shock of his faith shattering and his pride exploding, and couldn't recover for a long time.

Hearing Corin's mockery, Loki's eyes moved slightly.

When he saw the Mind Scepter, a spark returned to his gaze.

Struggling to stand up, the arrogance in his eyes, paired with his messy hair, made it hard to talk about any kind of presence.

"Give it to me! You are not worthy to possess it!"

Corin's eyes were playful. He said nothing.

He looked Loki up and down, especially at that set of armor that still shone gold despite everything.

A thought rose again.

'This guy really forgets the pain once the wound heals.'

Thinking that, Corin extended the scepter forward.

Loki's eyes lit up.

"See? There are still people who understand the weight of a god."

He reached out to take it.

But the next second, not only did Loki fail to grab the scepter, Corin's other hand seized his outstretched wrist.

Loki's confident expression froze. A sense of doom rushed to his brain. He instinctively looked up at Corin.

Corin smiled slightly and tightened his grip.

And started swinging.

"I'll mix you up evenly."

Hulk had grabbed Loki by the leg earlier. That probably sent too much blood rushing to his head, letting him still say such inflated words.

Corin decided to be a good guy to the end, help Loki calm down, and let the blood in his head flow back properly.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

Same rhythm. Same sound…

Loki was numb. Again?

Only now did he finally remember who this person was. Wasn't this the disaster who had blasted him with beams on the spaceship without a word?

How come after not seeing him for a while he even changed clothes?

Why was his strength this terrifying too?

If he had known it was this guy, he would've strategically played dead just now.

'No, no…'

'So sick. I'm gonna throw up.'

Corin was swinging him with great enjoyment, smashing as he spoke, "Trying to mess with me, huh?"

Bang!

"You think—"

BANG!

"You've got it—"

BANG!

"All figured out?"

BANG!
