Chapter 7 - The climb.

A few days have passed, Jairo had gone through basics combat training and cardio for those days. It wasn't anything special, but now he could dodge and block a basic punch or two.

As of now, he was in a bush, there he saw Ariel. Closing in, he found his moment to strike. Rushing in, He rushes, swinging at her while her back is turned.

She turned faster and kicks him in the gut. "Decent, but like always, needs work."

Jairo was currently curled up into a ball and groaning. "No…no I think you may just be a bit too strong."

Ariel turned back to him. "Try using that excuse on an enemy you actually have to sneak up on. Do you think they will care?"

Jairo had to admit, she had a point. Though, how she took a compliment and tried to spin it into a lecture had in fact, pissed him off a bit. Obviously he wouldn't say it to the enemy.

Imagine getting beaten and then telling your adversary how strong they are, they'd laugh and then kill you while having an ego boost.

Standing up and brushing himself off, he had to give it to her. "You got a point, but it's no use against you. If there was someone like you on the battlefield, the best option would instead be to hide instead of a sneak attack."

Ariel turned to him, putting a hand on his shoulder. "Not a bad idea."

the next time they switched places. He hid atop a tree, spare water dripping from him. 'I got in some water to throw off her scent, and with luck I smell just like any other tree.'

This was perfect. Better than her strategy anyway. Just hiding walking around in plain sight was going to work here, but there was no way in hell she was finding him now.

As his inner cackling continued, He noticed a figure in his peripheral, and not only his mood soured, but he was scared, almost falling off of the tree.

Ariel reached out and grabbed him. And personally he was getting tired of this. "No way you're normal. You definitely have some hidden power." He wasn't playing anymore. She had to have some kind of power besides being a werewolf.

Ariel paused, squinting her eyes a bit.

"I do actually, but that's not for you to find out. Maybe if you're able to land a blow on me, then I'll show you. But for now, let's go to a bigger tree."

With that, Jairo was once again chasing after Ariel, his training not bearing much fruit yet. He was able to run for a few more minutes but nothing major yet.

Ariel was jumping in between the trees like a certain character from an anime he used to watch in his childhood and teen years.

eventually, Ariel stopped. As she held out a hand, Jairo stopped, almost tripping over. He had some serious work to do. She turned and looked towards a giant tree, with red bark. Much bigger than her fathers house, or any other building he had seen for that matter.

Along the side, there seemed to be grooves that you could grab onto and even stick your claws into. So it was routine to climb it and she wasn't bringing him on a suicide mission, thank god.

This should be easier than he thought at first glance. Hopefully. Just looking at it made him feel out of breath.

Ariel was easily moving through the holes, clumping up like it was what our species was built to do, grabbing one part, and throwing her body into the next.

It was disheartening almost, seeing someone this perfect while not being as great. The only thing one could do was to accept that the heavens had favorites and move on.

Noticing his unsatisfied expression, she looked down at him. "Come on! You're doing much better than expected."

This entire training session was like telling a homeless man to buy a home. She admits to being an abnormality. Jairo would throw that out there, but he didn't know if he was below average or not.

"Be quiet up there, I'm trying to focus." Jairo said as he carefully put his hands where the grooves were on the tree bark, even sticking his claws in them and deepening them, making it easier for the next wolf after him.

Ariel looked at him struggling, making sure to get just out of reach to make him mad enough to keep going, but close enough so that he wouldn't feel too discouraged.

So far he was doing well, thankfully.

Ariel finished, climbing to the top of the tree without a change in breath, and looked down at Jairo who was struggling.

His arms grew weaker, but Ariel clump down just enough, wrapping an arm around his body as she carried him up the rest of the way.

After he climbs up they are on a small cave like entrance. One could barely stand inside. They weren't even close to the top of the tree, yet Jairo could look up and see many other trees that looked small by comparison.

The sun's golden light bounced of the tree leaves, and a beautiful blue sky seemed just a little bit closer.

Jairo rejoiced, seeing how beautiful and large the forest was in its…he wanted to say it's totality, yet he couldn't see an end to it. How big was this place?

Ariel turned to him. "As a young girl I always had a sense of wonder, curiosity. Perhaps too much for my own good. I wish I could say it left me and my responsibilities finally took over my mind."

She then shook her head. "Being inside of a room full of angry people who only wish for the betterment of them and their subject of people is exhausting. I'd sooner run away from it all."

Jairo nods. "I understand. People are terrible and easily irrational, irritable and exploitative. It's common to want to not have to deal with them for a living."

Teachers at his old school used to go through hell. needless to say, people sucked.

The moment of peace was nice, but Jairo had a question that was taking over his mind and ruining it. "Uhhhh. How do we get down?"
