When I finally return home, Roan and Ren are both waiting for me under the tree in front of my house. They look far more relaxed together than before, and a peace washes over me. The sun is already setting behind the mountain peaks, and the purple of dusk has fallen over Stonehollow.
Their handsome faces look especially captivating in such dramatic lighting—not that I care, or anything. It's just an observation.
"Hey, guys," I call as I approach. Ren doesn't look surprised at all—he can feel my presence, after all, so I guess he already knew I was coming.
Roan turns to grin at me, "Zor!"
"Welcome home," Ren says calmly, serving a lazy smile. "Did it… go well?"
I furrow my brows. That's a good question.
"Uh, I met most of the bear beastwomen—and had to visit with a brokenhearted friend," I reply awkwardly, rubbing the back of my neck.
Roan sucks in a breath, "Ohhh… right, Mira? She alright?"
