Chapter 523 - Chapter 523: Irene & Selene

"It seems you are somewhat lost."

Hearing the voice, Irene immediately turned her head to look beside her.

From within a spatial passage came the sound of wooden sandals stepping onto the floor, and Selene slowly walked out.

Irene stared at Selene without blinking, as though trying to see through her.

Selene accepted her scrutiny without the slightest change in expression.

"I don't know any Magic that can peer into people's hearts. I merely saw it from your expression."

"What are you here for now?" Irene frowned and asked bluntly.

Raizel had already said that they would visit the lord's manor again tomorrow morning, so Selene obviously had not come because of tomorrow's matter.

Selene stood with dignified posture and calmly opened her folding fan, half-covering her beautiful face.

"I have come to ask you for a favor."

Irene's tone carried a trace of disbelief as she asked in return, "The famous Moon Dragon God of Guiltina needs my help?"

Selene's self-awareness was extremely clear.

"I'm called a Dragon God only because humans granted me the name of a god. I'm not an actual god."

Irene gained a slightly new impression of Selene.

She looked at Selene with a hint of approval.

In Irene's view, for the proud dragon race to produce such an oddity as Selene was rather interesting.

Added to Selene's praise for the Sage Dragon Belserion, Irene decided to hear what Selene wanted.

"What do you want my help with? Speak directly."

As Irene listened to Selene's explanation, her eyes instantly filled with confusion and surprise.

With a complicated and doubtful gaze, she stared at Selene, who stood beside her.

Eliminate the Five Dragon Gods and the Black Dragon, then create a world without dragons?

Then what was she, a dragonified Dragon Slayer, supposed to do?

Kill herself?

Irene raised her eyebrows slightly, a strange expression appearing on her face.

"Why do you want to do this?"

"Because negotiation is impossible. You know what Acnologia is like. As for the Wood Dragon God, Aldo... heh. In his eyes, humans are merely nutrients."

"How many people have you recruited now?"

"One."

Selene raised a single finger.

Irene raised an eyebrow.

"Raizel?"

Selene tried to hide the smile at the corner of her mouth, but failed.

A teasing look appeared on her face.

"That's correct. But Raizel said Fairy Tail would bring me many surprises. Although I have yet to see them, from the look of things, you should count as one."

"But I am a Dragon Slayer who has become a dragon."

"Even if you became a dragon, you are still human."

Selene said it as if it were perfectly natural.

"You were originally human. Though you underwent dragonification, you still wish to be human. No matter what side effects you suffer, that does not change the fact that you are human."

Irene merely watched her without confirming or denying it.

"Even so, why should I help you?"

"I can help you repair your relationship with Erza-chan, I get along quite well with Erza-chan you know."

Irene looked at Selene with a strange expression.

"Erza.....chan?"

"Don't you think Erza-chan sounds nice?"

Irene answered flatly, "No. As for your condition, it's not... tempting."

...

Selene did manage to scatter Irene's gloomy thoughts.

It had to be said that Selene's strange way of thinking gave Irene, who had been caught in a dead end, quite a bit of inspiration.

And just like that, these two terrifyingly powerful female Mages chatted under the night sky for nearly two hours.

Of course, most of it was Selene explaining why she was so obsessed with eliminating the Five Dragon Gods and becoming a good person.

Selene's first negotiation with Irene did not succeed.

But Selene was not discouraged, because Irene had not rejected her outright.

She went to find Raizel and asked him for advice about the content of their conversation.

"You mean Irene did not reject you immediately, but instead asked about the way you addressed Erza?"

Raizel had Selene skip over the conversation about the Five Dragon Gods and caught the key point.

"That's correct. Why?"

Selene blinked, looking like a curious baby.

"Generally speaking, if someone has absolutely no interest in your condition, they should immediately say they are not interested or that the condition will not work. That would be a rejection. They would not focus on a form of address instead. Of course, it is also possible that the way you addressed Erza was indeed..."

"I see."

Selene supported her chin thoughtfully and nodded.

Raizel's voice interrupted her thoughts.

"Actually, the timing of your approach was a bit wrong."

"Why?"

Selene's expression instantly grew tense, and her tone faintly carried a trace of panic.

"You should have brought it up after she solved her side effects and was in a better mood. That would have greatly increased the chance of her agreeing."

"Think about it. If you lost your sense of taste and couldn't sleep, would you still care about things like the age of dragons coming to an end or eliminating the Five Dragon Gods? If you lost those things, then your desire to become human would no longer even stand on solid ground."

Selene did not know how to put herself in another person's shoes.

If she did, her relationship with Elefseria would definitely not have become so tense.

Raizel's words once again made Selene fall into thought.

She was wondering if she had messed things up.

"But it shouldn't be a big problem. Irene seems to have a decent impression of you. Otherwise, she would not have been willing to stay with you for two hours and listen to you talk about humans and dragons for nearly two hours."

"If it were someone she had no interest in, she would have thrown them out long ago. Of course, that assumes she could beat you."

Selene's eyes lit up.

She closed her folding fan and tapped it lightly against her chest, then asked tentatively,

"You're saying Irene has a decent impression of me?"

Raizel nodded.

"Most likely."

Raizel's guess was mainly based on the fact that Irene was willing to spend two hours alone with Selene.

After dragonification, Irene's personality was not only cold and aloof, but she also mainly preferred acting alone.

Otherwise, the only things left around her would not have been two swords imbued with Personality Enchant.

Those two swords seemed to have their own personalities and thoughts and could even chat, but in reality, they were merely the settings Irene had given them when she enchanted them.

For Irene to be this lenient with Selene could absolutely be called a once-in-a-lifetime exception.

"That's good, that's good."

Selene finally let out a sigh of relief, muttering in a tone of disbelief.

"But do you think Erza-chan sounds bad?"

Selene tilted her head sideways and looked at Raizel with a puzzled expression.

"Then what about little Erza-chan?"

Raizel shrugged.

"I think you should ask Erza for her opinion. When it comes to forms of address, you should get permission from the person herself."

"You're right!"

Selene raised an eyebrow, her eyes shining as she quickly walked toward the room.

"Oh, right. Can I call you Raizel-chan from now on?"

Before entering, Selene suddenly turned back and asked.

"NOOO!"

Raizel furiously unleashed a loud roar.

'What are you trying to do? turn me into some little screw with grand ambitions?!'

Selene did not answer.

The corner of her mouth curved into an eerie smile, leaving Raizel alone on the balcony, standing in the cold wind.
