An opening is small distortion in space which all people can feel but don't know what it is. It is an transparent barrier that once is opened turns into a rift. Resonance can be used on the opening but can only give an estimated reading.
Openings are important because that is how rifts are monopolized. There are only 2 ways for an organization to own a rift.
The first is reporting the rift opening to the government and claiming it by first stabilizing the rift. Stablization of a rift is the method in which the rift remains even after clearing it. A rift can only vanish after the core of the rift is destroyed.
The second is purchasing the rights to the rift from EVOLVED and becoming the owner that way. Why is this important you might ask? Owning the rights to the rifts is what guilds want and then they would sell access to the rift back to all Evo for whatever price they want and can ban whoever they don't like from these rifts as well.

The next morning comes and he feels them approaching again while having breakfast. "Not again man" he says as he sighs. "Can i not have 1 peaceful morning..". Arthur gets ready to leave and just hears "See you later dear" as he leaves. He gets escorted to the roof again.
Thomas stands looking over the horizon as Arthur comes onto the roof. As he steps closer, he stops at a good distance away. Neither of them speak as the cold breeze continously strikes them. Arthur feels water come from above him and he sticks his hand out.
More water droplets hit his hand and he feels the rain about to begin. "They were talking about an opening" says Arthur as he starts the conversation.
Thomas' interest has been peaked as he turns around and walks towards him saying "Go on". "I infiltered and listened on the conversation" "They said one of their scouts discovered an opening" "They were able to get a reading on it and that is was Rank C". "I wanted to continue to listen, but i think one of them spotted me".
Arthur said all that while looking away until after finishing his sentence, he looks at him and he sees a heinous joy come from and it leaves him shocked.
Thomas walks away not saying a word and Arthur stands there as he does. "Why didn't you kill them?" Thomas inquires as a change in the atmosphere around them occurs.
Arthur feels pressure that is squeezing him tight like a hand gripping his entire body attempting to crush him,
[Calm Mind Activates]
A system notification pops up and he regains some semblence and says "Because it wasn't the right time". "If i had killed them after they recently found out about a rift opening, only one person will get blamed."
"You." he says as he goes en garde.
A referee stands at the ready to say the command. A mental battle begins.
"How do you know it was recent?" he asks as if Thomas has broken his guard and attacked him 5 different types.
Each offense is dodged as he says "If it wasn't recent then you would know about it". Signalling he knows about the hidden mole.
"The best time to take of a nuisance is when nobody is watching" says Arthur. "Away from prying eyes and not be blamed if something goes wrong".
"Keep going" says Thomas as he walks past him. "Nobody would blame you and you would be able to keep your image". "Ascending the guild to new heights".
Thomas' greedy side comes out and he says to himself quietly "Yes yes yes" and gets louder each time. He chuckles to himself and then quickly regains his composure. "Leave" he says.
'Was he always this creepy' 'Urgh' he thinks to himself before leaving.
Several hours later, A meeting is called. On one end sits Thomas and his backers to his left. The other side is the Guild masters people. He arrives late, but his presence is felt. He takes his seat and waves his hand.

A secretary reads a report stating "Approximately one hour ago, our scouts located an opening at the edge of Trent park. It is expected to open within the next 3 days. Early readings say it's a C rank rift, but we will know more when it opens". She finishes her report but the whole time, Zekus was watching Thomas' reaction and got nothing.
On the other hand, his team showed confusion, bewilderment and excitement. "This is an opportunity for our guild to take the first step ascending into the realms of the great guilds." says Zekus. "Everyone here will be going" "Be Ready". He ends it with.
The meeting comes to a close and Zekus goes back to his office, sits on his chair and opens the first draw. He looks at the black card with the opening location. "This is just the beginning" he says leaning back in his chair looking out of the window.

BUZZ BUZZ
Freya's phone rings and she gets it out, but still hears the buzzing in her pocket. She's in a meeting with several key individuals within EVOLVED and she steps out into the hallway taking the call. The president looks at her and she turns to face the room as she is about end the call with a stern look in her eyes. Soon after she steps back inside and nobody questions her.
The air in the room becomes stuffy and those catch her gaze feel pressure.
3 days later...
The day of the rift opening has arrived and 10 EVO with 5 porters wait on standby for the rift. They see the ripples and cracks in space, but are a safe distance away. The scared and awe reactions are warranted as most never get to see an opening.
1 day before.
"I don't want you revealed so you will join the porter team". "Understood" replies Arthur to Thomas. A moment of silence occurs and then Arthur speaks "To increase the odds of it being a success, Can you add someone else into the porter team?" he asks. Thomas looks at him suspicious and asks "Who?".
"An EVO I know that is B rank close to A". "They are in need of money so they said they will do anything you want". He stares at him for a couple seconds, but he finally agrees.
