It was such a random day today… do you know why? Because randomly today someone decided to debrief me on the presence of queen consorts.
No wonder the palace had been so unnaturally quiet these past months. I should have taken the hint.
Instead, I had been living peacefully, believing the palace contained only the king, his nine sons, and the unfortunate omega who had somehow become the center of their lives.
Apparently I had been very, very wrong.
"The queens are coming."
"What?"
That was what I heard from Aiden while I was sitting in the garden, enjoying the afternoon breeze and trying not to think about the fact that my stomach had grown round enough to rest a teacup on if I leaned the wrong way.
I blinked up at him slowly.
"The queens?" I repeated.
Aiden stood in front of me with his usual calm posture, tall and composed as ever, his broad shoulders blocking half the sunlight while those ice-blue eyes looked at me like he had just announced something perfectly normal.
