Von finally got down from the car. He pulled a spare black facemask he had borrowed from Chloe's car up over his nose and mouth to hide his identity.
After waving Chloe goodbye from the sidewalk and reminding her to stay safe, he quickly turned and disappeared into the dark shadows cast by the hotel's exterior walls.
Chloe watched him walk away until he was completely swallowed by the darkness. It was only after she had driven her car forward and was waiting for the security gate to open did she suddenly realize something terrible.
'I haven't gotten his number!'
Just that sudden realization was enough to make her want to cry all over again.
"I'll never forget you, Mr. Janitor," Chloe said to herself with tears in her eyes, sitting alone in the quiet car for some minutes.
The security gate slowly rolled open. Now, it was time for her to find her way back to her room without alerting the guards.
