Chapter 63 - A Banned Name

"January 20th, 662.

Today, I went to the cemetery.

I visited Lady Enith.

I planted flowers near her grave, but I met a woman who looked remarkably similar to her…

She told me she was Enith's younger sister.

When I returned home to reflect, I couldn't focus.

Lord Edmaniel's words keep echoing inside my head.

I can still hear his voice saying,

'When you see your own death in the future—and the person who will kill you—you'll die from shock. You are limited.'

Yet Lord Ron Feng didn't object…

I don't think I believe him either."

Kayden paused briefly. Looking toward Henry, he noticed that the latter was carefully writing the sentence into his notebook, as though attempting to analyze it.

Then Kayden turned the next page.

There was nothing useful Three pages Meaningless.

But on the fourth page, it felt as though time itself had suddenly leapt forward.

Even Henry stopped writing and looked up at the others.

" July 29th, 663

Lord Ron Feng came and took me to attend a celebration. He said I was exaggerating my grief.

At the end of the celebration, he brought me somewhere else… and there, I found myself face to face with Lord Edmenial.

The moment I saw him, I wanted to kill myself.

This time, he did not hide his face.

In that instant, I realized that what stood before me was neither human… nor a monster… but something else entirely, something simply called Edmenial. A new category beyond everything.

He was perfect in a way that terrified the soul.

Yet Ron Feng laughed and mocked him.

"Why aren't you hiding your face? Are you trying to cause trouble?"

Edmenial remained completely unaffected and replied with sarcasm,

"Ron Feng, are you married? Are you jealous? Are you afraid your wife might see me? I could change your wife's mind about everything… She must be living in hell."

I found myself wondering… why would he need to hide his face?

The two fell silent and stared at one another.

At that moment, I understood something.

Ron Feng was responsible.

He was the source of ninety-nine percent of the world's problems.

And little by little, I began to fear him."

Kayden's tone shifted as he continued reading.

"In truth, that nuisance and I worked together to obtain a divine weapon. It wasn't simply a mission… It was theft.

I used that nuisance's face to draw everyone's attention while I finished the job.

Unfortunately, the Great Lady was present and witnessed everything.

At the time, neither of us was immortal. Not me, and not him. However, I was stronger than he was and still ahead of him.

We were both punished for the theft, but Edmenial's punishment… was far harsher."

Ron Feng spoke as though he were telling a joke, yet deep inside, I felt it wasn't that simple.

Ron Feng was no fool.

He was a devil wearing a human mask.

With deadly precision, he moved events exactly as he wished.

Then Edmenial produced something Ron Feng had been searching for.

After that, we left.

During the journey back, Ron Feng stared at that object as though he were looking upon a miracle "

Kayden finished reading and leaned forward slightly. "So… what did ugly Adam write? What exactly is he searching for?"

Henry took a deep breath, as if trying to connect countless scattered clues, then pointed at a poorly written word. "He wrote 'weapon' here. I think he's searching for whatever Ron Feng obtained. Something powerful… something mysterious."

"The date is getting closer to the war," Colton suddenly said in a pessimistic tone.

Henry stared into space. "I wonder what Edmenial looks like… for him to be placed in a category completely separate from humanity itself."

They look at Colton. Colton answered coldly,

"I've never seen him. What's wrong with you people?"

Kayden turned the next page and sighed dramatically while rubbing his forehead. "Poor Colton… he truly lives in an ugly world."

He turned another page and noticed that the date had changed again.

" December 8th, 663

I returned to my isolation once more.

I stopped leaving my house. I stopped doing much of anything.

I met Lady inith's sister again. It was a pure coincidence… but she looked exhausted, as though life itself had been slowly draining from her.

I approached her and spoke with her.

She was crying. She told me her life was falling apart and that everything had begun disappearing after her sister's death.

I stayed beside her that day.

Mostly silent.

Like a ghost witnessing a collapse that could never be repaired.

When I returned home that evening, I found that Lord Ron Feng had visited me.

He is… my only friend, despite how rarely we meet.

Lately, however, his frequent visits have begun to frighten me.

Without warning, he said, as casually as if suggesting a meal,

"You could marry her sister."

His words struck me like a cold slap.

A wave of fear washed through me, though I couldn't explain why.

Yet he did not back down.

Instead, he encouraged the idea.

Then he asked,

"Is there anyone who might propose before you do? You still have time to become immortal."

I did not wish to speculate, so I looked into the future again.

After seeing it, I told him the truth. "Yes… it is fate."

Afterward, I asked him about the punishment he and Edmenial had received from the Great Lady.

He told me that both of them had suffered severe restrictions upon their level of power.

The pain had been unbearable.

However, one of Ron Feng's companions intervened quickly and helped them.

Even so… the price was enormous.

Edmenial's face…

"His entire face was burned. The burns were so deep they nearly exposed the bone. Since then, he has never shown his face again. Even after treatment… only a handful of people still remember what he truly looked like."

A moment later, I found myself telling Ron Feng a secret I had hidden for years.

I told him that I had been watching a child.

His reaction felt like a second slap.

He looked at me with disgust and said,

"You're disgusting. I should have punched you from the beginning."

My words failed me.

I hurriedly explained.

"I don't watch him for any particular reason. I simply want to watch life… to see it unfold before me once again, even if only in silence. That child once stood among the dead. Now he has become a young man, but he was hurt too deeply. He no longer feels anything."

Only then did Ron Feng fall silent.

After a pause, he simply replied,

"That sounds normal."

Kayden slowly exhaled and closed the notebook for a moment.

Henry played with his pen and frowned. "What is this? This man has been watching a child? What is he even trying to say?"

Kayden answered quietly, "Maybe the child is connected to the future… or to the weapon he's searching for."

Colton slowly shook his head. " He's a complete loner."

"Should we start meditating?" Kayden asked while turning another page.

Colton nodded calmly. "Actually… both of you desperately need to begin meditating and training seriously. Haven't you already started training under Lord Ayrton?"

Kayden nodded, exhaustion visible on his face. "Yes… but training with him is unbelievably harsh. It feels as though we're fighting undefeatable shadows."

A faint smile appeared on Colton's face. "I'll help train both of you. But you must begin thinking seriously about your abilities. This isn't merely about physical strength. It's about focus, discipline, and directing your essence. Do not rush. Recklessness is more dangerous than weakness."

Then he glanced at the old notebook and pointed toward it.

"I don't want either of you to become like the owner of these journals… A man lost between his desire for power and his fear of destiny."

At the inn

Adele finished her meal and sat quietly by the window. "How can I obtain a spiritual essence as well?"

Friedrich was leaning back on the sofa in a relaxed posture. He gestured toward her with his fingertips.

"A sacrifice ritual will be held soon… in the city of Arin."

"And what are the sacrificial materials?"

Friedrich shrugged indifferently, as though it mattered very little to him. "They say… they're twins."

"And why are you telling me this?"

He stared at her for a long moment before answering in a low yet confident voice. "You're human… and I'm a Servitor. If we were to have a physical relationship right now, you'd die beneath me. I won't apologize for that; that's simply how things work in this world. But let me explain something… Once you become a Servitor as well, you'll belong to me. Whenever I feel desire, I'll come to you. And this isn't like a master and maid relationship. This isn't a free offer it's a deal. And you… are extremely beautiful. That's why I don't want to kill you tonight."

He waved a hand dismissively and continued, "I know it sounds like seduction, but it's just logic… a guaranteed transaction."

Adele covered her mouth thoughtfully and spoke with a faint smile hidden behind her hand. "That was somewhat expected. In the end, you're a man. That's not an accusation, merely an observation. Nothing comes for free, does it?"

She studied him carefully and added with greater boldness,

"We could do it right now if all you want is my body… and then I could simply die afterward ,Honestly… your offer isn't very tempting. You're nothing more than a despicable man."

Resting her cheek against her palm, she continued while watching him with growing fascination.

"You're like a devil. You try to tempt me politely, but you still have principles. You don't want a single moment you want repetition. That's what mutual benefit is called, isn't it?"

She looked up at him again. "If I walk out that door… will I die?"

Friedrich smiled. "That's correct. Very clever."

She pointed at him. "You're deceptive. Should I refuse? There's hardly any room for that. Perhaps I should agree?"

Friedrich suddenly clapped his hands and laughed. "You're a genius! I should have found you years ago. All my previous partners… were incredibly annoying."

Adele stood and asked, "Were they… stupid?"

He rose as well and gently placed a hand on her shoulder.

"Stupid, boring, and incapable of understanding anything about life. They want power without paying the price."

Adele glanced at his hand and exhaled quietly. "Can you tell me about some of them? We live in the same city, after all. Maybe I've heard of them."

Friedrich shook his head. "I can't. It violates the rules."

Adele muttered simply, as though speaking more to herself than to him. "People who don't understand the pleasure of living… I don't know why they even exist."

Her words were light, yet sharp as a blade.

She ignored the hand reaching toward her as though it were nothing more than a speck of dust.

Friedrich ran his hand gently through her hair and asked in a low voice, "And do you understand the pleasure of life?"

Adele brushed his hand away lightly, as though removing a crawling insect from her skin.

Then she slowly shook her head. "If I didn't understand that pleasure… I probably wouldn't have spent even a moment considering your unethical offer."

Then she pointed a finger at him, her gaze sharp and amused. "Think about it. Aren't you supposed to be smart?"

Friedrich smiled and nodded with genuine admiration.

"After thinking about it… that's absolutely true. You understand it carefully, precisely. I admit it you are intelligent."

Adele's expression softened for a moment before she spoke again, this time more quietly. "So… my fate is death?"

Friedrich stepped closer, his eyes reflecting something that resembled happiness wrapped in desire.

"That's right. If you try to run away, you'll die. And if you enter a physical relationship with me… you'll die."

For a brief moment, Adele seemed ready to surrender.

Then she suddenly sighed, lifted her head, and looked at him. "You're an annoying man… And you should be grateful I'm still speaking to you."

Friedrich chuckled softly, as though her words pleased him more than anything else. "You can joke too!"

Adele walked away and slowly entered the room, leaving the door open behind her.

In a quiet voice she said, "You can do whatever you want now…"

Friedrich replied from behind her. His voice was low, yet carried something strange that almost sounded like restraint.

"You'll die… And I don't want to waste you."

Then he reached out and turned off the light.

"You're incredibly arrogant," Adele muttered.

"I want to ask you something…"

Friedrich stopped moving. He stared at her for a moment before replying with a puzzled tone. "Go ahead."

"Have you ever met anyone else named Adele before?"

Friedrich placed a hand on his chin, searching through his memories for an answer. After a moment, he slowly shook his head. "No… this is the first time I've ever heard that name. Wait a moment you haven't even told me your name yet."

A wide smile spread across Adele's face, as though she had pulled it from some dark corner of her soul. She began walking slowly around the room, searching for a comfortable spot as if choosing the stage from which she would exert control. "My goodness, Friedrich, you're poor… You'll never understand what this name truly means. This name was designed exclusively for me. Afterward, the King issued a decree banning it. No one is allowed to bear it anymore. Even if a child is born with that name, their parents are forced to change it immediately. It is illegal now… Just like someone trying to steal a crown that does not belong to them."
