Bai Jinhai closed the door behind him with a soft click. He felt drained.
He took off his shoes and his coat, not noticing the presence of someone else in the room when a soft voice rang out.
"You're back"
Bai Jinhai was startled, raising his head to head to see a faint outline of someone sitting on the couch.
"A'li? Why didn't you turn on the light?"
He walked over carefully and Pei Lifu pointed to one of the sofas.
"Sit"
Bai Jinhai sat down without a word, a fawning smile on his face.
"What's wrong?"
Pei Lifu didn't answer his question, instead asking one of her own.
"You went to see Qin Yue?"
Bai Jinhai knew this conversation could no longer be avoided so he answered honestly.
"Yes"
Pei Lifu sighed softly.
"When were you going to tell me? Or did I not deserve to know? I was going to marry you Bai Jinhai!"
Bai Jinhai's eyes were filled with heartache and forbearance.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know how to start. It's complicated"
