Chapter 278 - Chapter 278: Encrypted Communication – The News Andrew Brought

After listening to Ezalia's explanation, Felix did not inquire further or raise any objections.

Seeing that Felix had no more questions, Ezalia proceeded to ask about the situation on the battlefield.

"How is the current state of the battlefield?"

Looking at Ezalia, Felix replied, "At the moment, the situation is essentially a stalemate. Due to our troop numbers, we cannot gain an advantage over the Earth Alliance Forces, and likewise, they cannot gain an advantage over us."

Hearing this, Ezalia nodded slightly. Her gaze fixed on Felix, she continued, "Once the reinforcements arrive for you, will it be possible to capture or destroy the Ptolemy Military Base?"

As the question reached his ears, Felix remained silent for a long moment before speaking. "I can't guarantee a hundred percent success, but as long as the Earth Alliance does not send reinforcements, there is a high probability we can take the Ptolemy Military Base."

"Alright, I understand."

With a calm reply, Ezalia ended the communication. Watching the screen go dark, Felix turned to Aric.

"Report any developments promptly!"

With that, Felix stood up and walked out of the bridge.

Aric watched Felix's departing figure and nodded, replying loudly and decisively, "Yes!"

After his reply, Aric saw Felix disappear from the bridge. Turning back, he continued to monitor the screen and communicated with the leaders of other units.

In Felix's Room

"You're back?"

Lacus looked at Felix as he returned, a gentle smile on her face, speaking to him like a wife waiting for her husband's return.

Hearing Lacus's soft and melodious voice, Felix walked up to her, took her small hand, and nodded with a tender smile. "I'm back."

Lacus intertwined her fingers with his and asked with a smile, "Was there anything urgent?"

Felix led Lacus to sit down and spoke to her without holding back. "Nothing out of the ordinary. The Ministry of Defense informed me that reinforcements will be arriving soon."

Upon hearing the news of the approaching reinforcements, a trace of sorrow flickered across Lacus's face. Seeing her expression, Felix knew she was saddened by the war again.

Holding Lacus's hand tightly, Felix asked her, "Have there been any recent updates from the Earth Alliance internal moderates?"

Hearing the question, Lacus pushed back her sorrow, looked up at Felix, and shook her head. "There's no new information yet."

Felix frowned slightly at her response.

Watching Felix's furrowed brow, Lacus pressed her lips together and remained silent, quietly staying by his side.

After a long silence, Felix said, "The prolonged lack of news from the Earth Alliance internal moderates is not a good sign."

"I've already informed Mr. Waltfeld to try and contact them." Lacus nodded in agreement and relayed this to Felix.

Felix nodded approvingly at Lacus's arrangements. Just as he was about to speak, another communication alert rang out.

Hearing the sound, Felix frowned, released Lacus's hand, and stood up to walk toward the desk.

Upon seeing the communication number forwarded by Aric, Felix immediately pressed the answer key.

The communication screen lit up, revealing Andrew's face.

"Not in combat?" Andrew instinctively asked the moment he saw Felix.

In response to Andrew's question, Felix replied calmly, "The battle just ended a short while ago. We're currently in a ceasefire."

As he answered, Felix glanced back at Lacus.

Understanding his look, Lacus stood up and approached.

Seeing Andrew on the screen, she greeted him warmly, "Mr. Waltfeld, how are you?"

"Miss Clyne, hello," Andrew nodded slightly and smiled in return.

Listening to their exchange, Felix cut in and asked Andrew, "Andrew, did you call with important news?"

Hearing Felix's question, Andrew snapped back to attention and spoke seriously, "I just had negotiations with the moderates within the Earth Alliance."

"What was the outcome?" Felix asked, a flicker of hope rising in his heart.

At the inquiry, Andrew's face clouded with worry as he shook his head. "The results of the negotiations aren't particularly good news."

"Mr. Waltfeld, please speak plainly," Lacus urged, seeing Andrew's troubled expression.

Taking a deep breath, Andrew explained, "The radical warmongers still hold the upper hand within the Earth Alliance, with those from the Atlantic Federation being the most dominant. For the time being, there's little that can be done."

Hearing this outcome, Felix wasn't surprised and even gleaned some indirect intelligence from the news. "It seems the Earth Alliance will continue reinforcing their troops toward the Moon. Ending this conflict will still take some time."

Andrew nodded in agreement with Felix's analysis and then asked in return, "Felix, what are your plans regarding this?"

Looking up at Andrew, Felix replied with a calm yet somewhat heavy expression, "We'll keep fighting the Earth Alliance Forces!"

Then, shifting his tone, he continued, "Now isn't the time for you to intervene and offer a way out. On the contrary, stepping into the war now would only cause casualties without serving as an effective exit strategy."

"So, you mean we should continue lying low, right?" Andrew confirmed, understanding the implication.

Felix nodded toward Andrew. "Exactly. You need to keep lying low until the right conditions emerge—one of which is a change in the higher-ups within the Earth Alliance."

"Mm," Andrew hummed in acknowledgment.

Then, shedding his serious demeanor, he grinned playfully and asked, "Felix, when are you planning to send Miss Clyne back?"

Hearing the inquiry, Felix raised an eyebrow, a smile spreading across his face as he replied.

"There's no need for you to worry about this matter."

Upon hearing this, Andrew chuckled and then ended the encrypted communication. Watching the communication cut off, Felix turned to Lacus.

His voice tinged with a hint of helplessness, he said.

"It seems neither our PLANT nor the Earth Alliance has reached the tipping point for war yet."

Lacus looked at Felix, her expression grave as she nodded.

"Mhm."
