Chapter 258 - Chapter 258: Words Are Also a Weapon

Chapter 258: Words Are Also a Weapon

Sometimes, achieving your goal does not require anything complicated. You only need to accurately seize the opponent's vital point, and the result will come on its own.

The Hyuga Clan was the perfect example.

When facing Hiashi, Kenichi had never wanted to fight him head on. He understood very clearly that once he clashed with Hiashi, it would be hard to end things quickly, and Konoha's reinforcements were already on their way.

Even if Kenichi did not lose in a prolonged fight, it would still be a headache. So he changed his approach.

He found a way to speak to Hiashi alone, and only said a single sentence.

"I'm cooperating with Danzo to let ordinary ninja activate and deactivate the Sharingan. The Hyuga Clan does not want to be next, do they?"

That one sentence was enough.

It kept Kenichi from getting trapped in a siege, and it still let him take what he needed: a drop of Hinata's blood, and a small piece of tissue peeled from her Byakugan.

That was plenty for his experiments. And with this "cooperation" established, it would also be easier to talk business with Hiashi the next time.

Besides, Kenichi believed Hiashi would soon figure out that this did not only involve Danzo. The Third Hokage was not a fool.

"I just wonder whether the Hyuga Clan will end up clashing with Konoha," Kenichi yawned.

He was squatting atop the Hokage Rock, looking down at the village. A faint smile tugged at the corner of his mouth.

The number one hidden village in the ninja world was now drowning in civil war. Shinobi fought in the streets, and flames rose everywhere. With the Uchiha Clan's particular fondness for Fire Release, Konoha looked almost festive, like it was holding a torch celebration.

"Still, the final direction of this war depends on that place…"

Kenichi's gaze shifted toward where the Hokage Building stood.

Or rather, where it used to stand.

The building was gone now. In its place remained only the towering, furious Susanoo, awkwardly fending off attacks from every side.

That was the core battlefield of the Uchiha rebellion.

In Kenichi's eyes, whether the rebellion succeeded had little to do with the ordinary Uchiha shinobi. The key was the outcome among the top fighters.

It was not that Kenichi looked down on the Uchiha, the famed ocular jutsu clan of Konoha. It was simply reality.

The Uchiha were in decline. Shisui had already taken his son and a portion of the clan away. Meanwhile, Konoha itself was far stronger. Even without the Uchiha, Konoha was still the number one village in the ninja world.

And according to Shisui, the clan should not have any other Mangekyo users. At most, they had three tomoe Sharingan.

If Fugaku fell, the rest of the clan would not be able to stir up anything meaningful. Once Hiruzen was free to act, he would wipe them out.

"Fugaku looks like he can't hold much longer," Kenichi muttered, still squatting on the Hokage Rock as he stroked his chin.

Was Susanoo strong?

Of course it was.

And the Mangekyo Sharingan was terrifying.

But the current Third Hokage was not the frail old man of the future. His strength had not yet declined to that extent.

After observing for a moment, Kenichi jumped down. He planned to check on Naruto, and then leave Konoha.

However, just as he was about to go, he sensed something unusual.

At the edge of the village, he seemed to catch sight of someone leaping into Konoha.

Kenichi was curious who had entered the battlefield, but he had no interest in joining the chaos. He turned away and headed directly for Naruto's location.

Naruto was staying obediently at home.

Four shinobi were stationed around the house, responsible for his security. It was clear that even with Konoha in turmoil, the Third Hokage still cared deeply about Naruto's safety.

Or rather, he cared about the Kurama sealed inside Naruto.

Kenichi shook his head.

If Naruto had been left unguarded, Kenichi might have interfered. But with protectors present, it was better not to touch that line. If he got tied to Naruto too closely, it would not be a good thing for the boy.

Kenichi actually liked Naruto quite a bit. Leaving aside Naruto's identity, Naruto's own effort also played a role in the success he achieved. Even if being the protagonist helped, the boy still worked for it.

"I hope Fugaku can land a heavy blow on Hiruzen," Kenichi thought, taking one last look at the battle still raging in the distance.

Then he shook his head again.

"But if Hiruzen really dies now, Danzo will probably be celebrating, right?"

Kenichi turned and left Konoha.

This unrest had nothing to do with him. Even if Hiruzen truly died, the Hokage seat would most likely still go to Tsunade. The chance of Danzo becoming Hokage was simply too low.

"This kind of flame is truly troublesome…"

At the former site of the Hokage Building, Hiruzen let out a long breath as he stared at the Susanoo before him. Then his eyes flicked, wary, toward the scroll under his foot.

He had nearly been burned by that ominous black fire. It kept burning without dying out, and ordinary Water Release or Earth Release could not extinguish it.

However, Hiruzen was the Professor of Ninjutsu. He was not without methods.

For example, the Fire Sealing Method he had learned before could deal with this strange flame.

"Hiruzen! Don't be soft hearted!" Danzo roared.

He fired off a Vacuum Great Sphere, then rushed forward with bloodshot eyes, desperate to seize merit.

This was a Mangekyo Sharingan.

If he could transplant it into himself, would the position of Hokage not be within reach?

"…Sigh." Hiruzen exhaled again.

He immediately used a combined technique, Earth Dragon Flame Flow, blending it with other ninjutsu released by the surrounding clan heads. For a moment, even Fugaku struggled to parry.

"Susanoo is both offense and defense," Hiruzen said, eyes locked on the giant chakra warrior, his heart itching with a dangerous sense of certainty. "But it is not unbreakable."

Back when he studied under his teacher, he had learned many techniques, including one designed specifically to deal with Susanoo.

His teacher had explained it clearly: it could only counter an incomplete Susanoo.

If it was a complete Susanoo, the technique would be useless.

Now, it seemed like the perfect time to bring it out.
