Chapter 117 - I Am Called Miracle (Part 2)

A/N: This chapter is best enjoyed with the background music "Banished Immortal" by Luo Tianyi, as that's what I was listening to while writing it.

The scene showed Mu Qing, clad in black combat armor and wearing the group leader's insignia of the Dawn domain combat team, devouring food in a restaurant.

Compared to Feng Qi's memories of her, the current Mu Qing had shed her childishness, her appearance having undergone significant changes.

The gazes of passersby were no longer filled with fear or disdain, but with awe and respect.

This Mu Qing was no longer the cute, food-loving little girl. Now exuding the aura of a mature woman, her eyes held only cold determination.

The mysterious girl suddenly appeared in the frame, sitting across from Mu Qing and curiously studying her as she ate.

Mu Qing looked up, her expression puzzled. "Do you need something?"

"Heh, I knew I wasn't wrong about that old man. They actually did it!" The mysterious girl beamed, her gaze fixed on the crimson rune crystal embedded in Mu Qing's left arm.

Under Mu Qing's questioning gaze, she eagerly proposed, "Mu Qing, interested in pulling off something big with me?"

"I don't think I know you," Mu Qing said.

"But I've known you for a long time. I've been watching you grow, and I know what you yearn for. What you desire is exactly what I desire."

Hearing these words, Mu Qing's expression shifted slightly.

"What do you think I yearn for?" she asked.

"You share the same yearning as Feng Qi. It's a pity he died so young, or I would have definitely supported him."

At the mention of Feng Qi's name, Mu Qing's body visibly trembled.

She hadn't heard that unfamiliar name in ages, yet it remained vivid in her heart.

"What exactly are you trying to say?" Mu Qing asked coldly.

"I want to fight for humanity." As she spoke these words, the mysterious girl's playful smile vanished, replaced by an utterly solemn expression.

"I am already fighting for humanity," Mu Qing replied gravely.

"What you're doing now is just small-scale skirmishes. After years of training, you've developed exceptional combat command skills. Combined with your extraordinary strength, you should be doing something truly significant..."

As time passed, the restaurant emptied, but Mu Qing continued listening to the girl's impassioned words.

As the girl spoke with passion, she couldn't help but gesture wildly, using her body language to emphasize her points, making her appear both mischievous and endearing.

Mu Qing's cold expression gradually softened, a hint of emotion flickering across her face.

"So, you're suggesting we establish a scavenger army and merge all scavenger factions?"

"Exactly! First, we build a powerful army, then we can proceed with our subsequent plans."

"What are these subsequent plans?"

"Heh, I can't tell you yet. I'm worried about the safety of those around you. Revealing them now would be too risky. Let's focus on building the army first. I'll help you."

The memory fragment blurred at this point.

When Feng Qi saw Mu Qing appear in the memory, he suddenly realized the identity of this mysterious girl.

She was Mu Yao, the enigmatic figure he had seen in the database, and the second-generation leader of the future Dawn Army.

These fragmented memories confirmed his earlier suspicion:

Mu Yao was the "miracle" Liu Yue had spoken of.

She seemed to be constantly searching for any force that could help humanity rise again.

The founders of the Scarlet Research Institute, Mu Qing, Emperor Ye, the mysterious boy, Wei Wei... Apart from the boy, whom he knew nothing about, every one of them stood on the front lines against the domain creatures.

At that moment, he recalled Liu Yue's words about the mysterious girl:

"She has lived for countless ages, tirelessly seeking miracles for humanity. Her repeated failures have never deterred her. To me, she is humanity's miracle."

The scenes unfolding before him seemed to confirm Liu Yue's description.

She relentlessly pursued miracles, or perhaps nurtured their emergence, only to be met with constant failure.

Emperor Ye's Domain Combat Team Alliance had long vanished from history.

Mu Qing's Dawn Army was crushed under bloody suppression.

Wei Wei and the Scarlet Research Institute suffered the same fate, ultimately overthrown by the machinations of a dark force.

Perhaps there were many details he remained unaware of, but every force connected to Mu Yao that he knew of had ultimately met its demise.

As the fifth scene concluded, a new memory flashed into Feng Qi's mind.

His head throbbed with excruciating pain, as if it were about to explode. The sheer volume of information threatened to overwhelm him.

The sixth scene unfolded within the Scarlet Research Institute, in Wei Wei's private laboratory.

In the scene, Mu Yao hugged Suction Cup, pressing her face against the creature's and rubbing affectionately. Her voice carried a hint of seduction:

"Little Muqing, you must grow up quickly. Once you've mastered your skills, you must strive for humanity's resurgence."

Suction Cup, despite her expression of disdain, nodded vigorously.

Nearby, Wei Wei, clad in a lab coat, watched the scene with a hint of exasperation. "Old woman, it's time to leave. This isn't your place. Be careful, or I'll capture you and use you as an experimental subject. I've been eyeing your body for quite some time."

Mu Yao ignored Wei Wei's words, instead pinching Suction Cup's cheek with a doting smile. "Who did your hair? It looks so pretty."

Suction Cup's face lit up with a delighted grin. "I did it myself! It took me ages!"

"Hehe, that's wonderful! You must become a great person!"

As the scene faded, Feng Qi felt his mind straining under the weight of the information.

Seventh scene, eighth scene... Fragments of images swirled through his mind like shattered glass, impossible to piece back together.

Just when the pain became unbearable, the fragmented images finally coalesced into a whole.

In this scene, Mu Yao wore battered armor, her face still radiant with a smile.

It seemed that no amount of despair or sorrow could break her spirit. Despite repeated disappointments and crushing hopelessness, her resolve remained unshaken.

Before her stretched an endless horde of domain creatures, surging toward her with relentless speed. Yet her eyes showed no trace of fear.

Her silver-white spear pointed straight ahead as she charged into the swarm of domain creatures.

With each sweeping strike, the spear emitted a dragon's roar, drawing spiritual energy from heaven and earth. A furious silver dragon materialized above Mu Yao, coiling around her head.

As she thrust her spear forward, the dragon roared and lunged at the domain creatures.

At that moment, she resembled a war deity, her spear reaping death among the domain creatures with every strike.

Even the most terrifying creatures—those whose mere gestures could tear through space—were powerless against her. Enveloped in silver light, they withered under the blossoming silver lotus flowers that bloomed around them.

This battle seemed to be the final stand before the world was consumed by the domain.

Feng Qi watched as a curtain of black mist slowly descended upon the world, while a crimson Blood Moon rose ominously from the horizon.

The sunlight seemed to have been devoured by the Blood Moon, its brilliance now dimmed and lifeless.

Feng Qi could clearly sense the desolation and despair in Mu Yao's heart through the images, yet she refused to give up, choosing to continue fighting.

Even if she was the last person left in the world.

At that moment, countless fragmented images flashed through Feng Qi's mind:

On a wind-swept mountain peak, Mu Yao stood with her silver spear slung across her back, arms outstretched, smiling as she shouted at the sun:

"I, Mu Yao, never give up! If there are no miracles, then I'll create them myself!"

In a remote scavenger village outside the city, Mu Yao gazed at a grimy little girl before her, hands on her hips, and roared with laughter:

"Hahaha! Another miracle to look forward to! I'm so happy!"

Amidst swirling snow, Mu Yao lay severely wounded in the snow, letting her blood stain the white ground crimson. Ignoring her injuries, she pouted at the sky and muttered to herself:

"Another failure... I'm used to it by now, but it still hurts so much. I'm so discouraged..."

Under the radiant moonlight, Mu Yao soared through the clouds, gazing down at the earth, humming cheerfully:

"Miracle, miracle, where are you hiding? Come out, I'm coming to catch you! La la la la!"

Through these fragmented memories, Feng Qi could clearly sense the unwavering conviction in Mu Yao's heart, a belief that had never faltered from beginning to end.

If there are no miracles, then create them with your own hands.

This conviction burned fiercely within her, unshaken even as the domain threatened to consume the world.

Though she chose a different path, she, like you, constantly faced despair, yet never abandoned hope for a glimmer of dawn, always anticipating the arrival of a miracle. Feng Qi, you were never truly alone.

Hearing the Narrator's words, Feng Qi couldn't help but sigh.

His heart was deeply moved.

In the final fragments of the shattered memories, the sky's oppressive darkness gradually enveloped the earth. Mu Yao stood alone, gripping her spear with one hand, blood dripping from her battered armor.

Yet she refused to retreat a single step.

Sky and ground, as far as the eye could see, were swarming with domain creatures. Undaunted, she stood her ground, her spear held horizontally.

Wherever her figure passed, silver lotus blossoms bloomed, no domain creature proving a match for her.

As the black curtain gradually enveloped the world, Mu Yao's combat prowess waned. Domain creatures she had once effortlessly slain now proved impossible to dispatch with a mere wave of her hand.

It was as if her life force was intrinsically linked to the world's fate. As the domain consumed and devoured the world, she too was inexorably drawn toward annihilation.

The moment the sky was completely shrouded by the curtain of storm clouds, a jade-colored radiance enveloped Mu Yao's body, her movements growing increasingly rigid.

In the final instant before her body froze completely, she raised her spear and pointed it toward the heavens.

The rage, hatred, and despair in her heart coalesced into a surge of power that erupted outward.

An invisible force radiated from her, annihilating every domain creature within its shockwave, reducing them to dust.

The ground beneath her collapsed violently, forming a massive crater.

Gazing at the sun sinking into the sky, gradually being replaced by the Blood Moon, a trace of melancholy crossed Mu Yao's face. A crystalline tear slid down her cheek as she murmured softly:

"No one stands with me at twilight."

At that moment, Feng Qi felt the loneliness in Mu Yao's heart as her life faded away.

Time and again, her efforts had been met with failure, yet she always chose to face each setback with optimism, rallying herself to continue searching for the elusive "miracle."

She was both a witness to history and a driving force behind it.

Now, the emotions buried deep within her, never revealed, finally surfaced as the sun sank, transforming into a solitary sigh:

No one stands with me at dusk.

As her body completely froze, it transformed into a statue, spear raised and pointing toward the heavens.

A torrential downpour began, as if the world itself were bidding a final farewell to this unyielding warrior.
