Chapter 259 - Reunion with the Mist 2

Translator: CinderTL

It was nine in the morning.

After glancing at the map, Feng Qi lifted his foot from the accelerator.

The snowmobile continued to glide forward for a short distance before coming to a stop.

He was now very close to the Silent Domain Field and decided to proceed no further by vehicle.

The snowmobile's roar would inevitably alert the United Battle Group.

He had no intention of meeting Mu Qing at this time.

On this Sacrifice Line, their futures diverged sharply.

After detaching the tablet used for navigation, he grabbed the backpack from the passenger seat and stepped out of the vehicle.

The snow was thick, and his legs sank deep into the drifts as he landed.

Instantly, his mental energy surged outward.

He pulled himself free from the snow and landed on the snowmobile's roof.

Opening the backpack, he found it packed with instant food and emergency supplies.

The most crucial item was the "Active Needle," stored in a specially designed metal case. This needle held the key to preserving his memories.

If it were lost, all the efforts on this Sacrifice Line would likely be in vain.

He pulled out some compressed biscuits and began eating rapidly.

Only after consuming three boxes did he finally feel full.

Next, he retrieved his snowboard and bindings from the snowmobile's trunk and began gliding forward.

As for the snowmobile, he left it behind for now.

After gliding for some distance, the first rays of dawn suddenly pierced the sky, and his vision expanded dramatically.

Feng Qi spotted wisps of smoke rising in the distance.

As he continued forward, the Joint Task Force's encampment came into view.

He slowed his pace.

The Joint Task Force's perimeter faced the Silent Domain Field, so he didn't need to worry about being detected.

Still, he chose to maintain a safe distance as a precaution.

Noticing that the United Battle Group hadn't yet begun their operations, Feng Qi leaned against a large, exposed boulder and took off his backpack to eat.

During the winter months in the far north, nights are longer than days. Within hours, darkness once again enveloped the land.

Despite his robust physique, the constant extreme cold began to seep into him, though the temperature remained within his tolerance range, so he didn't take any measures to warm up.

He raised his head and peered toward the distant encampment.

The camp had clearly passed mealtime. The cooking fires were extinguished, and apart from the sentries, the warriors had retreated to their tents to rest and recuperate for the next day's exploration.

Leaning against the boulder and gazing at the night sky, Feng Qi closed his eyes.

He wasn't sure how long he slept, but a sudden commotion in the distance jolted him awake.

He immediately turned, craned his neck, and looked up.

In the distance, a misty hand stretched down from the gray sky, forcefully grabbing a running warrior.

Instantly, blood gushed from the warrior's pores, and within the blink of an eye, he was drained dry and collapsed.

Chaos erupted across the battlefield.

Figures could be seen organizing warriors within the camp to attempt a rescue.

Seeing the hand coalesced from mist, he knew his judgment had been correct: the master of the Silent Domain Field was indeed the Lord of the Mist.

After the sudden crisis, the camp sprang into action.

Each battle group began preparing for their exploration mission.

Several hours passed before the major battle groups finally launched their operation.

They split up, each responsible for entering the Silent Domain Field from a different direction.

Realizing that the Lord of the Mist and Mu Qing were about to clash, he flipped over the large rock and slid toward the Silent Domain Field.

Since logistics personnel were still present in the camp, he chose to take a detour.

Upon reaching the Silent Domain Field, he didn't immediately enter.

Instead, he lay low near the field, waiting for an opportunity to arise.

He wasn't confident he could seize this chance.

After what felt like an eternity, the ground trembled violently, a tremor he could clearly feel even outside the Silent Domain Field.

As he continued to wait, he saw a large number of figures rushing out of the Silent Domain Field.

Among them was Mu Qing.

Her eyes glowed with a scarlet light, like a deity of slaughter, radiating a terrifying aura and oppressive presence.

Seeming unable to control herself, she turned and re-entered the Silent Domain Field.

Moments later, the tremors from within the field intensified dramatically, a testament to the ferocity of the battle raging inside.

Feng Qi already knew the outcome of this battle.

His heart remained calm, with no need to worry about Mu Qing's safety.

After an indeterminate amount of time, he suddenly heard a cracking sound.

Looking up, he saw fissures spreading rapidly across the gray Domain Field's sky, accompanied by violent ground tremors.

At that moment, a mass of gray mist emerged from the sky and fled into the distance.

Recognizing it as the escaping Lord of the Mist, Feng Qi immediately enveloped himself in mental energy, levitated into the air, and gave chase.

The Lord of the Mist moved with incredible speed.

Even severely wounded, he was beyond Feng Qi's ability to catch up. After a brief pursuit, Feng Qi lost track of him.

Yet he remained unperturbed.

Given the Lord of the Mist's critical injuries, Feng Qi reasoned that he couldn't have fled far.

After flying for some distance, Feng Qi descended.

He then initiated a systematic, grid-like search.

An hour later, he arrived at a snow-covered forest.

By this point, he had little hope of finding the Lord of the Mist.

He realized he had underestimated his quarry. Even severely wounded, the Lord of the Mist had managed to flee this far.

Feng Qi now had no precise idea of the Lord of the Mist's location, only a vague sense of the direction he had taken.

Entering the snow forest, he resumed his methodical search.

After advancing some distance, he suddenly spotted a broken tree branch in the distance.

Looking down from the break, he saw a purple-haired youth lying motionless beneath the tree, his hands buried in the snow.

A smile crept across Feng Qi's face at the sight.

The next phase of his plan could finally begin.

With this thought, he strode toward the unconscious Lord of the Mist.

Reaching the Lord of the Mist, he crouched down.

After scanning him with his mental energy, Feng Qi's smile froze.

He discovered that the Lord of the Mist no longer showed any signs of life.

"Damn it! Could he have been killed?"
