Chapter 77 - Chapter 77: Damn Rich!

The news that Kakashi would be taking Uchiha Souji out of the village spread quickly through the underground information networks.

And although nothing was announced publicly, there were people in Konoha who paid attention to every small shift of power—especially those whose lives revolved around control and ambition.

Shimura Danzo was one of them.

He stared at the report in his hand with a dark expression, the candlelight flickering across his face. The ink on the scroll detailed Kakashi's intentions:

> Kakashi Hatake will officially take Uchiha Souji as his personal disciple.

He will take the boy on a long-term mission outside the village.

And most importantly—

He intends to teach him Chidori.

To the average person, this meant nothing more than a talented student learning from a talented teacher.

But to Danzo?

This meant Sarutobi Hiruzen had approved every single step.

This meant Hiruzen was ready to start grooming Uchiha Souji into something bigger—maybe even the future of the village.

This meant the Uchiha were regaining influence.

And to Danzo, this meant only one thing:

He himself was one step further away from becoming Hokage.

Danzo's fingers curled tightly around the scroll.

His eye grew fierce and cold.

"Uchiha Souji… you are really damned."

---

He carefully flattened the scroll, rolled it back up, and stamped a sealing formula over it. His movements were methodical, yet tense, like a man silently sharpening a blade.

Beside him lay a little white snake—small, elegant, and unnervingly calm.

This was one of Orochimaru's messenger snakes.

A direct communication line between Danzo and the former Leaf Sannin who had defected.

The snake opened its mouth unnaturally wide, almost to 180 degrees, and swallowed the sealed scroll whole.

Puff—

A burst of white smoke erupted.

The snake vanished instantly, returning to Ryūchi Cave.

Danzo exhaled slowly.

"Orochimaru… don't let me down this time."

He had hoped to kill Souji quietly before the boy could become a threat. But when he had prepared Root forces to act, he found ANBU stationed outside his underground base.

Sarutobi Hiruzen had already anticipated his move.

The message had been clear:

"Don't do anything stupid."

But Danzo wasn't the kind to accept defeat so easily.

If he couldn't kill the boy himself…

Then he would let someone with no moral hesitation do it.

And who better than Orochimaru?

A missing-nin, a criminal, a man with a twisted interest in Sharingan users…

A man who already had reasons to hate Souji.

"Yes," Danzo muttered coldly. "Let Orochimaru clean up this troublesome Uchiha."

And with that, his dark plan was set in motion.

Next Morning — Konoha Gate

The sun rose brilliantly over the village, scattering gold across the rooftops and making the leaves sparkle. The air was warm, slightly breezy — perfect weather for travel.

Kakashi stood near the Konoha gate, looking up at the sky with a backpack slung heavily across his shoulders.

He had been waiting for only a few minutes when a familiar voice echoed from behind him.

"Well, Kakashi-senpai, I met a black cat at a street intersection, so I got lost on the road of life. I'm so sorry!"

Kakashi turned around instantly.

Uchiha Souji approached, yawning lazily, hair still messy from sleep, moving like a child dragged out of bed too early.

Kakashi's eye twitched.

"Don't use such a nonsense excuse when you know exactly what it means!"

He paused.

Then quietly touched his chin.

"…I think I used the same excuse yesterday…"

Souji stared at him with a deadpan expression.

He didn't even need to say anything. His eyes did all the talking.

Kakashi coughed loudly and changed the subject.

"This is for you. Carry it."

He took off his backpack and tossed it at Souji.

But Souji simply stepped aside.

The backpack dropped to the ground with a heavy thud.

Souji crossed his arms.

A proud Uchiha. A genius. A time traveler.

There was no universe where he willingly carried a bulky physical backpack like some poor villager.

He pulled out a seal scroll from his inner pocket and waved it smugly.

"No need, Kakashi-senpai. Everything I need is sealed inside this. A backpack is too big and inconvenient."

Kakashi's mouth twitched visibly.

"This is your first time traveling," he said. "You might not be prepared enough."

Souji raised a brow and pulled out another scroll.

"The first scroll was tableware. This one is medicine."

Then he took out a third.

"This one has ingredients. This one has bedding. This one is for water. And this one—these are the knives."

He kept pulling out scroll after scroll.

"I even packed a portable house. And a field toilet."

Kakashi froze.

Souji continued.

"And I have emergency snacks. Clean clothes. A backup tent. Spices. Spare money. A bathing kit. Travel shoes. And my cookbook."

Kakashi stared at him.

With a dead expression.

"…"

Souji added innocently, "Senpai, should I show you the scroll with my extra pillows?"

Kakashi finally snapped.

"ARE YOU GOING ON A TRAINING MISSION OR A VACATION?!"

Souji blinked.

"Why can't it be both?"

Kakashi covered his masked face with his hands.

There was only one sentence left inside his soul.

"If you have money, can you really do whatever you want?"

Souji didn't hesitate even half a second.

"Of course, Kakashi-senpai. Isn't that obvious?"

Kakashi fell silent.

Then nodded grudgingly.

"…Fair enough."

But he quickly regained his dignity as a teacher and said:

"But even so, you will still carry this backpack."

Souji glared.

"Why?"

"Weight training," Kakashi answered instantly.

He confiscated every single scroll Souji had prepared.

"All of these? Confiscated."

"What?! Why?!"

"You are going on training, not a luxury trip. You must learn wilderness survival. No scrolls allowed."

Souji clenched his fists.

If he hadn't been a time traveler with strong mental discipline, he would have punched Kakashi right then and there.

Even Onitoru whispered inside the sheath:

"He is bullying you."

Souji grit his teeth.

I know!

But a teacher was a teacher.

So in the end…

Souji left Konoha carrying Kakashi's heavy backpack on his shoulders

while his own carefully prepared scrolls were all taken away.

Life was unfair.

---

As they walked toward the open path leading out of the village, Souji tried again.

"Kakashi-senpai… can we drop by the capital of the Fire Country?"

His tone was soft. Too soft.

It was the voice of someone with a plan.

And Souji did have a plan.

He wanted to check the real estate market in the Fire Capital.

He wanted to buy land while it was cheap.

He wanted investments before he defected from Konoha.

Because plans were useless without money.

And money was power.

Kakashi blinked in surprise.

"You… want to go to the capital?"

Souji nodded eagerly.

Kakashi shrugged.

"That's actually our destination. We're going there to find Jiraiya-sama."

Souji froze.

His heart dropped like a rock.

He could have brought more money!

He could have brought better clothes!

He could have brought his "capital exploration toolkit" if Kakashi hadn't confiscated everything.

His face went pale.

He felt like he had just lost 1 billion yen.

The backpack on his shoulders suddenly doubled in weight, feeling like Mount Tai crushing him.

He could barely straighten his back.

"Why does this backpack feel heavier all of a sudden?" he muttered.

Onitoru whispered inside the sheath:

"Because despair is heavy."

Souji nearly cried.

---

And thus, their journey began.

One genius Uchiha.

One lazy teacher.

One ridiculously heavy backpack.

And one extremely irritated wallet.

But one thing was clear:

Uchiha Souji really was damn rich.

And Kakashi seriously regretted taking him out before teaching him humility.
