My heart melted right there on the porch steps, all my old frustrations fading under the genuine love shining in her eyes.

And the instant she said those words, I immediately forgot the series of a random dudes she'd try to pair me up with and force me to go on blind dates with them on some occasions, whether I liked it or not.

I pulled her into a tight hug, forgiveness washing over me even as guilt twisted deeper inside me.

"It's okay, Mom," I murmured against her hair, my voice thick with emotion. "I know you meant well. But things are different now...sure it isn't easy, but omegas can carve their own paths, marriage or not, no matter what society says. I'm figuring it out my own way."

She smiled then, bright and proud, cupping my cheek as she whispered how happy and proud she was of the strong, independent man I'd become.
