My heart sank, confusion crashing over the pleasure like a cold wave. I blinked up at him, a protest forming on my lips because there was no way this infuriating, wonderful man would leave me trembling like this after everything we'd shared.
"What? You can't be serious. You're really not going to... after all that? Don't you dare leave me high and dry, I swear I'll—"
His chuckle was warm and affectionate, cutting through my frantic words as he leaned down to brush his lips against mine, calming me with a soothing kiss.
"I'm not going to fuck you," he murmured again, his voice low and sincere. "I'm going to make love to you."
Those words landed with such sweetness, stealing my protests and replacing them with a rush of emotion that made my eyes sting. Before I could fully grasp it, he eased his fingers out of me, leaving me clenching around nothing, aching and empty.
